Sean Taylor (1 Viewer)

Jurb, why do you think they change the rules for the Pro Bowl? Why do you think people don't like Taylor?Would it be okay this weekend in the NBA All-Star game if someone takes a hard foul when a player is coming down the lane for a monster dunk? I mean, hard fouls are a part of the NBA, right? How about the MLB All-Star game? Is it okay for Randy Johnson to throw at someone's head who he thinks might hit a home run against him? I mean, throwing at someone is a part of baseball, right?
I was under the impression that the rules are not changed for the Pro Bowl, just that the players don't play quite as hard. And as a avid sports fan I would love to see all of the All-Star games played harder. Also Drew Brees had his elbow dislocated during the Prow Bowl. I don't recall who hit him (Suggs got him by the ankles IIRC) but where is the criticisim for that player?

:nerd: at Sean Taylor laying out a punter with the hardest hit he could deliver and the punter jumping up uneffected.
 Either Taylor is really kind of wussy, or Moorman is one of the toughest guys in the league.

(My vote is for the latter. Moorman is one tough SOB and most definitely a football player.)

His one punt in the game was for 64 yards. (Too bad Devin Hester was the returner and punt coverage teams are so terrible. He ended up with a 1 yard net punt) :nerd:
It only took about 5 seconds worth of searching th internet to see how outlandish you two really are...... Taylor
What do you mean by that? And where is the link to the highlight video with all the late-hits, personal fouls, blown plays, etc.?
Same place the highlight videos are with all of Jim Brown's negative rushes, Joe Montana's INTs, and **** Butkus' missed tackles.
That's just plain ignorant, and insulting to those HOF'ers. Taylor is by no means the best at his position current day, let alone all-time like the guys you bring in here. He gets way too many 15 yd penalities chasing the big hits, which extend drives and give the opponents better field position. He isn't exactly the best in coverage either. He can throw so big hits, though  , which I guess makes him so great in some fans' eyes. And all of you ST lovers out there, let's not forget that he only made the ProBowl this year as an injury replacement for the Best safety in the NFC (possibly NFL), Brian Dawkins.
He is alot like Roy Williams, suspect coverage skills, hard hitter good runstopper. I don't get the misnomer about all the 15yd penalties everyone is talking about. I watch every Redskins game and he doesn't log any more than your average player. I do think he can't control his temper sometimes, and does do something stupid, but what player doesn't??I also would not disagree with you about Dawkins, one of the best and classies guys around.

Who's a Sean Taylor lover...I'm just defending him from the morons. I'm guessing if it was someone like Troy Polamalu who made the hit we'd be talking about how great it was. However since it was a punk like Taylor people are taking about how dirty it was.

I wasn't comparing Taylor to any of those players. You asked the stupid question of where his highlight video is making mistakes. Every player makes mistakes. Every highlight video is designed to be positive.
He gets way too many 15 yd penalities chasing the big hits, which extend drives and give the opponents better field position.
He really hasn't had too many, IMO. And, most of his personal fouls have been the result of simply being aggressive. That's what I want from him. I want him to be a BA and play aggresively.
He isn't exactly the best in coverage either. He can throw so big hits, though  , which I guess makes him so great in some fans' eyes.
He's not bad in coverage. He had a bad year in 2006 for a number of reason, none of which have to do with his skill level. He was excellent in coverage in 2004 and 2005. He also had a bad year in 2006 with missed tackles, but was very solid there in 2004 and 2005.
And all of you ST lovers out there, let's not forget that he only made the ProBowl this year as an injury replacement for the Best safety in the NFC (possibly NFL), Brian Dawkins.
He should have easily been a Pro Bowler in 2005. He was named the alternate this year based off his reputation his first two years and his seemingly impressive tackle numbers.

the Skins haters on here just look stupid. Its fine that you hate a franchise, I hate the carolina tarheels in basketball. But i'd never be so stupid to say Jordan wasn't an incredible player. Sean Taylor has freakish abilities, and is one of the best young safeties in the game. Talk all the crap you want about him, but the kid IS the real deal. And Roy Williams is the most overrated safety in the NFL. He gets burned more than Pam Anderson's boyfriends.

He can throw so big hits, though  , which I guess makes him so great in some fans' eyes.
"This is football. This is not a contact sport. It's a collision sport." GB Jack Tatum, and every safety since that has tried to emulate him.
FTR, I realize that quote isn't from Tatum himself (it's in the video though) but Tatum is the mold I want "my" safety to be cast from.If you have intimidators at MLB and safety you start every play with the upper hand.

Help me recall exactly where Taylor was penalized on that play or what rule he broke?
Is this your best response to my questions? Thanks anyway.
Oh, that's right. You mean the "unwritten" rule that guys don't play hard that players all agree too. Well then, why where none of the actual players upset about the hit? It seems the same players you claim should be in arms because of this broken phantom rule were the ones congratulating Taylot for the hit. Seems you've taken quite a liberal stance on this unwritten rule and it's application.

Those that are commending Taylor are missing the point entirely! This game has a gentleman's agreement that the players let up on both sides of the ball. The only two who didn't get IT were T. Suggs and S. Taylor.Do you guys really think with all of these great athletes, that there were only a couple of chances to lay the wood during the game.Taylor and Suggs are blockheads. What satisfaction does one get from laying out the GD punter?I'm sure those of you who liked that hit would also clamor for a pitcher to throw at someone's head during the All Star game or for someone to take a hard foul during the NBA All Star game?!These are exhibitions and the idiots are exposed just so the idiots on ESPN can hav something to talk about! If you look fast, I'm sure there is a train wreck somewhere near you to go watch!
Shocking, a Colts fan has a problem with rough football. Hey, maybe if you complain enough the competition committee will change the rules for the pro bowl like they did when they complained in years past. As for everyone saying Taylor's coverage skills are suspect, a lot of time he looked bad by other guys playing out of position. He had Archuleta who was a disaster in coverage, Vincent who was picked up off the street after being waived by the bills and Vernon Fox a player that no redskin fan ever imagined would be a starter playing along side of him. More than that, Shawn Springs missed more games than he played and Carlos Rogers missed a couple games as well. Not to mention the fact that the defense set a team record for fewest sacks. It's pretty easy to pick apart a secondary when nobody touches the opposing qb. I'm not saying he's a great coverage guy, but he's certainly not bad.

Shocking, a Redskins fan talking trash. Maybe the rules committee can make some changes so your team can get to the playoffs and maybe even win a game? I mean I know your recent history gives you plenty of reason to talk smack!

Oh believe me, I'm not in denial about the Redskins, I don't need pizzatime to enlighten me to that. Although they did make the playoffs and win a game in 2005. But you're off topic a little bit. I am just saying, I prefer old school football. Maybe you should lay off the pizza and go on a diet so you can fit in your skirt. :blackdot:

No offense intended, just some good natured ribbing. I've actually been a FBG since 2003, just changed my handle. Either way, I'm more of a lurker than a rabid poster. :lmao:

Yeah, who wants facts to interfere with mindless dribble.

Yes "facts" are required in the age old debate "Did Sean Taylor make Meki retire?". But yes, Meki's rushing totals against the Skins, I cannot defend. He crushed me in that debate. I will now surrender, and admit that ST did not infact make Meki retire.
