Just curious to know if you have some players on your roster who you would look to move if they start the season with a great week or two?

I've never actually done it, but if I had Jahvid Best last year, I would have. However, if someone did the same with Arian Foster, they got burned. What say you?

I have a couple of WR's in a dynasty league that I may shop around quietly if they look good out the gate. ( :bye: Brent)

If Kyle Orton gets off a good start, I will look to move him in my QB superflex league......a couple of owners are desperate for QB help. Not sure if Orton will finish the year as the DEN starter.

Hightower, Ryan Grant, Gore, MJD. These are guys who seem to have a fairly high risk of not keeping it up, either for injury or competition concerns.

 
After reading some good points in the Manningham thread, and seeing that week 16 match-up with Revis and The Jets, Nicks may be a guy you could spin for a really nice return the early part of the year.

 
Better sell Crabtree NOW. Make it or break it year for him and I don't think he's ever going to live up to the hype tbh.

I don't know who I would sell Nicks for if he's having an outstanding year up to week 16. I would live and die with him in the championship game. I think he's that good.
 
I don't get the Reggie Bush entry. I think he can have success all year long.

I'm more worried about Hightower, give the coach's history with RBs.

The price would most definitely have to be right.
 
This is a good thread. I also think we should start one for guys we will look to buy in the first couple weeks if they start out slow.

I'm feeling pretty skiddish about Jahvid Best again this year. I think Detroit is going to roll at Tampa this weekend and Best could easily finish with a very nice stat line. If the hype gets anywhere near as frothy as it did at the beginning of last season, I'll look to trade him straight up for a stud WR.

:goodposting: I'm a SF homer (not local, but follow them pretty closely) and have paid a lot of attention to this guy. He appears to not be as talented as he looked in his college offense and with the QB situation in SF, he will probably be a bust for years to come. Three years at best before his situation would be improved and there's a chance he just doesn't improve enough over that time or gets used to losing and loses heart. It started with his ridiculous holdout and has manifested with sub-par performance on the field.He is a definite sell high, IMO. If you can get any kind of decent value for him, I'd do it now.
 
Jahvid Best. He fell to me in the 6th!!! round. If he has a repeat of last year and has one of his 40 point out bursts, I'm shipping him A S A P.

:unsure: I just made a trade offer for this cat.....is he really that bad? Thought he was a can't miss talent just waiting to get settled in.

I totally agree with this. I said it last year after everyone was ranking him even with Peterson and Rice.

What seems to be missing more than anything is the tireless work ethic that defines the top WRs in the game. Every time I am ready to write the guy off, he has a play or two where I can see what made him such a top college player. He has an effortlessness to how he moves on the field that I think is misunderstood. I've seen him make difficult catches look routine and position his body so quickly after the catch that defenders look silly in their efforts to tackle him. But these are merely glimpses into what can be if he finally makes an elite level effort. Too many times, I've seen him alligator arm passes over the middle, make the easy play out of bounds, and seem lost in routes. The physical tools are there and some are at elite levels (his body control is astonishing at times), but he doesn't flash them enough and lacks consistency.

He reminds me a lot of Roy Williams. That said, his value is pretty low right now. The time to sell high on him was 2009 or 10. If you have him now, I'd keep him unless you can find a sucker out there. There's a chance he gets better. Even if he doesn't, he could be fantasy viable on another team down the road or at least have a good stretch of games after which you could get more for him.

Crabtree is extremely talented. Its everything else that he sucks at (work ethic, a good QB, a good offensive coordinator, health)

Reggie Bush. No way he stays healthy as a feature back. In fact, I just traded him this week, bundled him with V. Davis for Calvin Johnson!! Feelin' pretty good about that. :thumbup:

 
Chris Wells.

Dude hasn't stayed healthy and that AZ team is just flat out lousy at running the football. If he strings a few good games together early I'll be shopping him in the one league I own him.

 
I'm always interested in these topics but often find myself wishing I played in leagues that had enough trade market "liquidity" to actually trade some of these names and cash in on these value fluctuations. I would sell high on Evans but from a practical standpoint (again in my leagues), who's buying and what are they paying? Even after a few good games, it's nothing close to "retail".

In the leagues I play in, it's hard enough to put deals together involving impact players let alone guys who are perceived to be depth and effectively interchangeable with a number of other similar guys.

 
No mention of J Charles yet after all of the discussion about the Chiefs playoff schedule and the aweful preseson? True, tough to sell a top 5 pick but if the value there, especially what may be a "go off" game with Buffalo, may be worth it...
