Selling McNabb high on the bye (1 Viewer)

Just traded McNabb for Harrison straight up. Mike Vick now becomes my starter after holding the clip board for 8 weekends.

I was very thin a WR. R.Moss, Cotchery, and Reg Brown were my main corp in a start 3 league.

Anyone else sell him high? Im in 2nd place at 6-2. I dont like McNabb's schedule the rest of they way.

My league's McNabb owner just moved him for Peyton, effectively. The whole deal was McNabb, Boldin, Travis Henry and Steven Jackson for: Manning, Andre Johnson, Ahman Green and Willis McGahee.

I traded him before last week for Carson Palmer and Andre Johnson. I needed a solid #2 WR and I don't think the drop off from McNabb to Carson will be that bad over the 2nd half.

Horrible trade.
Its easy to jump on and say that. I have Vick to insert in my lineup. Look at McNabb's games week 15 & 16 (playoffs in my league). At Giants, At Dallas. Doesnt look like a favorable matchup to me, maybe you see it otherwise. Meanwhile Vick is at home both games: Dallas and Carolina. 2 tough defenses, but they will be playing in the dome. My feeling is, how much do I lose by playing Vick in Donovan's stead?I tried to pry Holt from the owner, but would only give Harrison. As I stated, my WR corp is R-Moss, Cotchery, and Reg Brown. Do the math. My corp is upgraded with HArrison as a #1, Moss at #2 (makes me much more comfortable) and play a matchup for the 3rd man. Since I am in 2nd place, I go 9th out of 10th on waivers to try and find a servicable WR.The WRs I was running out there was a glaring weakness that would get me mauled in the playoffs. I think this is a gamble, but u have to have some balls in this business...

I traded Mcnabb and Kevin Jones after week 6 for Peyton and Rudi Johnson in a non PPR league. So far I'm looking pretty good with that one.

I dont think you got real good value for the trade, BUT you improved your team and i think you made the right move. I think I would have done the same.

Not criticizing, just my 2 cents. I am banking on McNabb still feeling as though he has something to prove this year. He has single-handledly carried me on several occasions in addition to being solid on all but one week. I simply do not move a player on this kind of streak and motivation. There is a difference between a streak and just being motivated and solid. You've seen it - guys on a contract year (not all contract year guys mind you), guys that just "have it" that particular year. IMHO you just give away a much higher likelihood of very high QB scoring for a much riskier upside ...hey, that's just me though.

I dont see why people keep saying he has a tough schedule down the stretch

He plays WAS, TEN, IND, CAR, WAS, NYG, and DAL

Washington's defense has been torched all year, Tenn sucks, the game vs INDY should be a shootout, and the Giants secondary sucks. Carolina & Dallas could be tough but he has already torched Dallas.

Why not trade Vick for Harrison? That trade makes much more sense. You didnt sell high on McNabb you just sold him.

I just don't understand the "Sell High" Theory some times! You have arguably the best QB fantasy wise. Why not keep him? Real bad trade IMO!

What makes you think Harrison will even play much during fantasy playoffs(superbowl week 16 in particular).I would have gone after a wr that is on a team that will be playing hard right till the end trying to make the nfl`s playoffs...not a team that probably will have it wrapped up by week 14 or 15.

ummm......you do know he has played both of those teams already don't you?? Giants game 27/45 350yds, and 2 TDs. Dallas was 18/33 354 and 2 TDs. I will give you that those were both at home. I'm doing the math and you got whored.

Your right.Vick could become his old self this sunday on out and your be in big trouble. I hope it works out for you but McNabb is one of the best ff players this year, you dumped him for a guy thats 5th-10th best at his position.

I'm not trying to pile on here because you needed to make a move for a WR so I understand your thinking. I guess my problem is that you sold McNabb when his value was high, but you didn't get anymore for him than you could have gotten at the beginning of the year. McNabb and Harrison are nearly equal value with both being in the upper tier of their positions. Right now, however, Harrison is getting some yards, but his TDs are down and Manning is spreading the ball around more than ever.

I also don't like the idea of putting your QB hopes on Vick. I think you bought high on Vick by believing that this two game hiatus from reality is the real Ron Mexico. It may be, but history isn't on your side.

When it comes to trading my studs I always look for two players in return. I don't mean two studs because that probaby isn't going to happen, but I do want a stud AND another decent player to protect me. Bulger and Andre Johnson would have been a nice option. Palmer and Boldin. Heck, figure out a way to get a solid QB, a WR and Fitzgerald for McNabb, Cotchery and another guy. I always look for "buy low" guys when I'm selling a "sell high" guy and then work the trade around that.

Obviously you aren't dead in the water since Harrison is a quality player and should give you great production at WR. I think most of us just feel that you didn't get max value for one of the top 5 players in fantasy football right now. We crap on you because we care.

Not sure that I got full value for McNabb but I dealt him this week for Carson Palmer and Chester Taylor. I know Palmer isn't the uber-stud he was last year but I needed another RB after the Tatum Bell turf toe debacle (I have Mike Bell too but want to avoid that carousel for the next few weeks and see how it plays out, if at all possible). I like Chester's second half schedule enough to swallow the downgrade from McNabb to Palmer, and if the Cincy offense begins to bounce back I think I'll be pretty happy as the season plays out.

I traded McNabb and Lamont Jordan for Dunn and Fred Taylor this week. I also have Peyton Manning and think that he will have a better second half than McNabb will. In addition, I specifically drafted McNabb in the 5th round to be trade bait.

I wish that I could have gotten more for him. Neither Dunn nor Taylor was on my wish list. But no one else in my league (12-teamer) would trade with me - nine offers rejected outright or countered ridiculously before this one was accepted. I'm paying the price for taking advantage of too many of them over the years.

Bottom line, I have to believe if you were desperate for a WR, you could have done better than McNabb for Harrison straight up. Did you shop around the league a little more?

Ouch! You would've been able to get Harrison & Wayne. You should've sold high on Vick. Props to the media, they got you to buy into the Vick hype...

You got shafted. Harrison has been inconsistent this year and McNabb has been lights out the best QB in fantasy through the season. If you had a sell high candidate on your team it was Vick, whose value has skyrocked due to the two big games. If he only was going to give you Harrison instead of Holt then you should have had him throw another player in to sweeten the deal.

You improved your team potentially but you still got pretty much bent over.

I like the way this trade has worked out. Sometimes you just go w/ you intution. Best of luck this season...

So you are claiming it was a good trade because the guy you traded away got hurt and you give credit to "intuition"? :penalty: This is the Shark Pool kid.
