SERIOUS QUESTIONS....ALL FF and (1 Viewer)

I say this because i know myself and LOTS of other owners pay for and draft in leagues starting as far back as MAY 1. How will site owners handle a strike situation in 2011? Total refund at our request or must we wait until site owners decide when we can ask for or get our money back? This is a topic all us cash league players need to discuss. If we spend 2k to play in a major event or even $125 for a Satellite league in June and no NFL is being playing come Oct 1 then what happens? We need to know where we stand come Sept next year if their is no NFL and we have already spent cash on FF leagues already drafted...how long can they hold our cash while waiting for a late NFL start and do we deserve a partial refund if that's what happens? I would think all sites that offer cash games will have rules in place in case this happens..still question is what will or should these rules be? Most all experts believe this strike/lock out will take place and its just a matter of how many weeks are lost. At what point would the FF player deserve a partial refund if at all? This is going to be a huge issue for all the major contests and high stakes sites out here so we need to start discussing whats best for US PLAYERS that make all these contests happen. Should we only play in events that offer a TOTAL REFUND in case of no NFL games on a given date and what should this date be? How long if at all are players going to be willing to let these site owners hold or cash? I really think discussion on this subject is very important..especially to us players who spend the cash that make these Contests happen. I don't think its so soon to get this discussion started either come this FF seasons end in Jan/Feb. Leagues start drafting in 60-90 days if that. We need to figure out whats best for us sooner than later. You can bet the site owners are already thinking about this. Fantasy Football is a HUGE business the money that is spent on all things FF related is now astronomical and I'm saying its in the BILLIONS yearly now(and im adding the pizza and beer ordered at the local draft along with the gas used to get there. lol but?). I think the FF players and industry deserve to be heard from when it comes to this NFL strike. The threat of FF players not spending any cash on anything FF related in 2011 just would have to have a place in this situation imo. Some many think that is foolish to even say but I don't this hobby and every aspect of it is growing bigger every year. Tens of millions are playing it now and its growing 10-15% yearly. So lets discuss everything and anything that we can think of to make sure us players are the last ones to get hurt/screwed out of our monies in case of a strike in 2011. We have many things to discuss about if a strike occurs next year as far as Fantasy Football goes..even down to would FBG and the many other information fee sites pay back yearly subscriptions to us if a strike happens etc etc? It goes on and on and we need to get it all out beforehand to make sure we all get a fair shake if/when this strike does happen. :boxing:

Even tho I am starting this thread I'm Hitting this subject with a blackdot and hoping lots of others do as well.

Wait?

Draft but don't take money yet?
what im saying is they will be holding our league fees for drafted leagues in May/June/July..but then what happens if no games are being played into Oct?...no need for any posts other than what happens in case of a strike to cash leagues already drafted etc..This is going to be a very serious problem come next spring/summer and i really think we need to discuss it sooner than later.

ya know...maybe you stumbled on to something! Draft and don't pay or just have to make a partial payment until the situation is over then full payment is due at that time...lol but it could be an answer.

If I am drunk, stupid, and not all there, let me know. YOU did not pay for 2011 already, did you? I have NEVER paid two years ahead. I am paid for the current year but I have no commitment to 2011. If I am wrong let me know.

I am not sure how to read what you wrote due to the drama that is throughout the post. That being said, I believe each of us will all look very closely at leagues we play in and who we give money to.I don't think this board or anyone else can answer your question since we will be the last ones to know regarding if they are going to play or not. I wouldn't worry about it all that much as leagues will adjust and if you feel that you won't get your money back, don't join.

I wil risk getting banned but ARE YOU A MORON??? Did you pay for this year AND next? Or did you pay for the current year?

So is he.2011 is next year.Seriously dude, it should be pretty simple. Either don't pay a dime until it's a sure thing that the season will happen, or come up with a refund agreement in your league.

Relax. There are endless reasons why there will be no work stoppage: The ESPN/ABC Family, FOX, CBS, NBC, NFL Network, and their thousands of Radio and Internet cousins.

You'd be better served focusing your anxiety and attention on global warming. It's a bigger threat.

After the show of solidarity by the players last night, we have agreed to donate our $480 to the NFLPA in the event of a strike. That way they can meet the long term medical coverage and avoid a lockout.

I have to admit I didn't read all of that but there can be an issue in keeper/dynasty leagues that allow trades of future draft picks. Some of them have rules in place that make you pay all or part of the next years franchise fee before they will allow those trades (to prevent a team from trading away too many picks to win NOW then not returning). I personally would just decide not to trade future draft picks this year if those are the rules.

Let's all show our solidarity and put one finger in the air (or thumb since I can't find a 1 finger icon)

We can't let the players go on strike, we have too much money and time investing in them.

Who's with me?

I guess I may be looking at it too simplistically, but we've already talked about what we'd do in my dynasty league and decided everything will just freeze for a year. I really think it's THAT simple. Not sure where the problem is here.

I'm also a site owner and as far as my thoughts on that, same thing. I won't be taking a dime from subscribers for '11 as long as the season is in doubt. I guess it comes down to your own level of risk you're wanting to assume, but if someone wanted my money for a service that has a 50/50 shot of being rendered? I'd ask myself what's their motivation? I'd be leery of anyone demanding you pay them for '11 while the season is still in doubt.

The simple answer is flexibility. I can tell you without going into details that we have already discussed contingency plans for how to handle the 2011 season if there's a lock out, and I would think any professional high stakes league will certainly do the same. Caveat emptier but if your league does NOT have clear procedures in place for next year, you have no one to blame but yourself if you still pay you entry fee before getting clarification.
