If you are tagged here, it's because you expressed interest in playing in a Shark Pool home league, followed along to the Shark Pool #1, or attempted to get Shark Pool #2 off the ground last year. This year we will get it going no problem. We can even get a third if enough people are interested!

Aw shucks ;)

Our FBG Home League was a total blast! It’s so great to play against folks you chat with on this board. Highly recommended!
Yup. We got a good group together and eleven managers came back for year two so, something is definitely working.

As much as I'd love to mop the floor with you peasants, the universe has granted you mercy by still not allowing this contest outside of Canada/USA.

Consider yourselves blessed.
Contest? I thought this was the home league thing - basically 12 guys put in $50 and winner takes most of the pot. No wider implications.

ETA: weird - theres a few states banned too. That never occurred to me.

As we (SportsHub) are operating the FootballGuys Home Leagues, it is technically a "contest league" by the letter of the law. In order to run these leagues we need to geolocate users upon payment and be licensed in the various states. We aren't charging the leagues any additional compliance fees to make it as close to a "home" league as we can.

The leagues having a third-party commissioner allows for trades, quick and efficient payouts at the end, safe transactions, and a more regular league feel than you will find elsewhere (if just finding a league on Reddit or Yahoo etc).

The states we aren't allowed to operate in are mainly due to high licensing fees or difficult licensing requirements. All SportsHub games have to abide by the same licenses - Fanball, SafeLeagues, Bestball10s, National Fantasy Championships, Fantasy Golf Championships

Does that make sense? Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Man, I’m this close to wanting to horn in to the 2nd league as well. ;)

Love all these familiar user names that are joining up in League #2.

If we get 2 or 3 “stable” and consistent leagues that last a few years, maybe we do something silly like throw all the names in a hat and swap league membership for the next 3 years. Then make a single SharkPool Home Leagues chat thread (which I think we should make a combined one anyway) where we can cross-talk the smack. (Or “congratulations for beating me in advance” posts, in my case. Drives @FarFromHome nuts. Ha!)

Someone mentioned it last year I think. Or maybe they didn't and I just thought of it. You decide. We take the top 6 teams of this league and the top 6 teams of the first league and the following year we combine those 12. Bottom 6 of each league get booted and replaced. We have this running tournament of the boards.

Love it.

Can’t wait to see how these next 1 or 2 SharkPool Home Leagues fill up, and then we can start a combined SharkPool thread for all of the leagues combined so we can cross-talk, keep tabs on each others seasons, talk crap, and make silly plans like the one you mentioned above.

This is gonna be great. :)

Reading through the rules. question about "undroppable" players. Let's say I have Lamar and Mahommes as my QBs (assuming start 1 QB, didn't read that part), and also let's say they happen to be both top 5 performing QB's by week 6, and I decide to drop one of them for a mid level WR due to byes or roster requirements or whatever, which obviously is not like for like, would something like that be blocked? Or rather is there something in Sleeper interface that will not let me do that at all? Picking an extreme example so please try not to read into the players, trying to get a sense of what is the mechanism to manage undroppable players from anyone who played last year. Thanks!

Sleeper doesn't have a set undroppable list, so it's up to our team's discretion. We would of course take into consideration many factors such as roster construction and starting lineup. It's a measure to prevent tanking or collusion, not to fully restrict how a user wants to run their team. We didn't run into a single instance of this last year. Hope that helps!
