Shark Pool Mock Draft #2 - Let's draft! (1 Viewer)

From Roto:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on NFL Live Thursday that the "prevailing thought around the league" is the Texans will "take a defensive player or look to trade out" at the No. 1 overall pick.

Per Schefter, Houston is unlikely to draft a quarterback first. There have been increased signs the Texans have already settled on South Carolina DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney, not the least of which was Clowney's decision to end his private-workout schedule on the pre-draft circuit. We suspect the Texans may have already informed Clowney he'll be their pick. Look for Houston to draft Clowney at No. 1 and select a quarterback 33rd overall. Signal callers are going to fall on draft day, quite possibly further than anyone expects.

is there a chance Houston could get Bridgewater, Bortles or Manziel with their 2nd round pick? (Not n this draft since Johnny is gone, but in real life)

Browns. Have the 26th and can move up easier than any other team to get who they want.
Who do you think the Browns would pick if all 3 were available at 26? (not that they will be)

I think Manziel
Literally have no idea...

But Id go with Bridgewater possibly. Or Bortles.

I guess that's it for me.

I don't draft a guy who has only played a position I am drafting him for 2 years.

I hate potential, I want to be able to see a long past. I want him to know all situations in and out.

While you can say he is still improving, I can say other defenses are getting more views of him and he has more chances to screw up.

Talent can only go so far, then smarts and repetition take over.

Just not a fan, watched him a couple of times this year and just didn't see what you guys see I guess

With the 1.9 pick, the Bills select S Ha-Ha Clinton Dix as a ready made Jairus Byrd replacement.

OT is biggest need and with the top 3 gone almost everything else is a luxury pick. With Mike Williams and a deep WR class I can pass on Evans. Barr isn't a sure enough thing. Next best DE is Ealy and that's a reach at 1.9. Thought long and hard about C.J. Mosley here but know that too many upcoming teams need a FS and Dix is the best of the lot by far.

I'll post the picks periodically as long as Andy's not updating the first post. Also - please try to post your picks in large fonts - otherwise, they are hard to find when scrolling through the other comments.

1.1 Texans – Jadeveon Clowney

1.2 Rams – Greg Robinson

1.3 Jaguars – Sammy Watkins

1.4 Browns – Jake Matthews

1.5 Raiders – Khalil Mack

1.6 Falcons – Taylor Lewan

1.7 Bucs – Johnny Manziel

1.8 Vikings – Blake Bortles

1.9 Bills – HaHa Clinton-Dix

Wow, OK, this has moved quick!

1.10 - Detroit Lions select Justin Gilbert CB, Oklahoma State

No the pick is not Evans, like I did in last mock before they signed Tate. if the Lions take a WR her with other needs and after signing Tate they have some big issues. Furthermore if they do not take a CB here I believe Lewand and Mayhew should be fired on the spot no questions asked. Gilbert is going to be a stud and with the teams in the division and #1WRs on opposing teams, they better take him here.

As a guy that's not well read up on the draft, I'm enjoying this. Lot of information about teams needs and the players being drafted. Thanks to everyone participating. Also, go JUMPER, get some talent for the Bengals.

Thanks for that. FWIW, he's updating the second post. The first post he left to show the original draft order.

Say Jacksonville goes Watkins in the first and passes on a QB in the second. What would happen to Henne's value if he were to have Blackmon and Watkins to throw to. I'd have to think he'd be in the top 20.

First off, I love Blackmon's talent, but nobody, not even Jacksonville fans can count on him for 16 games. Whatever he provides is the cherry on top.

I guess I'm thinking on a game by game basis. I agree that Blackmon is a total wildcard but for the games that both were on the field and if Robinson can become a poor man's Sproles, you might have something down there. It'd be tough to contain Watkins and Blackmon, similar to Marshall and Jeffrey actually in terms of having big wideouts. I don't think Henne has anywhere near Cutler's talent however.

The pick would likely be Evans but Dix isn't "wrong".
In retrospect, I should have traded with the Falcolns to move up and nab Lewan myself. I honestly thought the pick would be Barr and surprised when it came in. Lewan would have been a reach for anyone at 1.6, but was far more of one for ATL than it would have been for BUF.

Blackjacks, just out of curiosity what was the minimum you would have accepted to trade down the pick given the circumstances?

I've been waiting on Borden for the official word, but last night we tentatively agreed to a trade, and since everyone is getting a little antsy I'll go ahead and perform the trade, hoping everything is okay.

Dallas Cowboys trade the 1.16 and 3.14 to the Tennessee Titans for the 1.11 to select Aaron Donald, DT.

With Ware, Hatcher, and Spencer all moving on, Dallas must address the D-line in this draft. I believe Donald ought to be their man and with NYG at 12 and CHI at 14, I don't think they can sit around at 16.

I would like to take credit for initiating that trade :)

I would have went back for a #3 and if you took Lewan I would have had no clue who I would have taken next. Hopefully another trade back again at #9
