Shark Pool Mock Draft #2 - Let's draft! (1 Viewer)

ATL fans should be excited!!!

When I drafted Lewan at 6 I was hoping that a couple of nice Dline would be here at the 2nd pick (Very deep draft for D-lineman).

I never would have thought Ford would still be there though.

A true first round talent available here and a need for him.....GIDDY!

Thanks to the fanatic for drafting for me. I didn't want to slow down the draft over the weekend.

Lewan and Ford, Yes Sir!
Lewan is talented. He's a real head case though. Look at his tatoo http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4c/TaylorLewan.jpg/200px-TaylorLewan.jpg he has pet freak'n pig and a couple misdemeanors. What a goofball Smh

It gets worse "allegedly" http://www.chatsports.com/michigan-wolverines/a/Michigan-football-covered-up-rape-allegations-and-threats-of-violence-then-lied-about-it-people-need-to-be-fired-immediately-10-2-4830http://www.washtenawwatchdogs.com/4/post/2013/08/the-cover-up-of-the-arrest-of-university-of-michigan-football-player-brendan-gibbons-for-rape.html

He's known as a dirty player as well. That may have been cool a year ago but not after Incognito.

OK. The first bunch was ridiculous evidence that he's a head case. I don't care if a player is dirty either. But that first link you gave makes me suspicious of the guy.

I think Lewan has a "mean streak" reputation but I haven't heard of the rape investigation before now.

A mean streak is good but any speculation of that in his past can severely make him drop on draft day.

If you see Dee Ford as a 1 trick pony, and if that 1 trick is a pass rush, I am okay with that.

Atl needs to get to the QB.

Funny thing is I see Barr (who people wanted Atl to take at #6) as a 1 trick pony.

I think Ford is more of a sure thing, personally

I was calling him a goofball for the tattoo and stuff.

With the 46th Pick in the 2nd Round of the 2014 2nd Shark Pool Mock Draft, PIT selects WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt

PIT has a glaring need at WR, and we were excited to see that Matthews slid down to us. We were hoping Allen Robinson would make it down to our spot but we got one of the guys we were targeting in the 2nd.

We also considered: WR Donte Moncrief, DE Scott Crichton, WR Cody Latimer

2.15 Cowboys select Scott Crichton, DE

The Cowboys wanted to move down with several worthy selections on the board. Unsuccessful in negotiations, they choose to continue their work on their D-line. Crichton and Donald will be fantastic building blocks for a D-line that will look nothing like it did last year.

2.16 the Baltimore Ravens select Marcus Roberson cb Florida

Jimmy Smith and L Webb are a nice tandem but the Ravens need s nickel and insurance in case the want to cut Webb (almost 5 million against he cap next year). Roberson is a good one on one cover and has a lot of ball skills. He will fit nicely in the rebuilding Ravens D.

Had about 3 different options here but thought Roberson was the best fit

With the 2.49, the New York Jets select Jace Amaro, TE Texas Tech

Happily surprised to see Amaro available at this juncture. Pairing Amaro with Mike Evans and Eric Decker has drastically improved this offense. Would have liked to gone DB here, but couldn't pass up a difference-making TE.

Jets Draft:

1.13 Mike Evans, WR Texas A&M

2.49 Jace Amaro, TE Texas Tech

Great pick. I wondered when he would go.

Miami Dolphins select: Chris Borland MLB

Miami's defense is strong on the line and in the secondary. Despite some expensive linebackers, that unit is lacking against the run and doesn't have a leader. Enter Borland who will patrol the middle of the field and be that playmaker. Should complete and elevate an already strong defense.

My choice for Baltimore was Roberson or Amero but with the addition of Daniels this offseason had to go DB

Good pick

Okay, to move this along...

2.52 - Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB - Georgia Tech

I was hoping he'd keep falling to the 49ers pick, but there's just no way that's going to happen with the steam he has behind him...

Eagles select Cody Latimer, WR - Indiana

With the top-WR Jordan Matthews off the board the Eagles snatch up Latimer and add speed, as well as size to the receiving core. I thought about getting cute and waiting until the 3rd for him, but who am I kidding? The cat is out the bag here. He and Nick Foles will play a bunch of 1-on-1 basketball games and build chemistry with each other.

Picks:

Ryan Shazier, OLB - OSU

Cody Latimer, WR - Ind

59. St. L - Davante Adams WR - Fresno State

Really happy I moved up as I have Adams as the #5 WR in this class getting him here is a steal IMO. St. L needs a playmaker on the outside with some more size. Adams is a great fit and makes high point catches with ease.

With pick 60 the Carolina Panthers select Kevin Norwood, WR - Alabama

Was really wanting Cody Latimer here and expected him to fall but I guess the cat is out of the bag there. Norwood was my fall back selection. I think his play at Alabama was underrated. Big strong physical receiver that has plus hands adjusts to the football well in tight coverage. He works back the the QB, goes after 50/50 balls.....and most importantly to Carolina he's a good run blocker. Has the potential to be a productive WR1 but in reality I see him as a very good WR2 - with Ricky Prohel coaching him I think we will see him reach his upper potential.

2.61 San Francisco - Terrence Brooks, FS - FSU

Versatile player who can play safety and nickel corner. Has nice range.

Thought about doubling up at WR.

2.62 - New England Patriots - Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame
The Pats can certainly use the TE. He's a strong blocker so he won't be a one-trick pony at the position.

2.63 Denver Broncos select Christian Jones OLB/ILB/DE, FSU

Tough spot for me here. The Broncos don't have any glaring needs, but linebacker is probably their biggest one. Scouting reports seem to be all over the place on Christian Jones. I've seen him graded as a second round talent or as low as a fifth. This may be kind of a reach, but I think this is a guy the Broncos could really use. He could be coached to be an OLB or MLB, but he also played DE this past year in college. At the very least, I think his coverage abilities will prove useful in sub-packages.

2.64- The Seahawks select Kelvin Benjamin.

.
I dunno if I buy this pick. Seattle lost CB Brandon Browner, DE Red Bryant, DE Chris Clemons, OT Breno Giacomini, S Chris Maragos, DT Clinton McDonald, WR Golden Tate, CB Walter Thurmond...I think Seattle goes heavy D in this draft it is their bread and butter. Couple that with they are a run first team and Benjamin isn't a stand-out blocker...I dunno for me I just don't think they pay this high a premium for a guy who had one good year where all he did was catch touchdowns.

Seattle will go BPA. The good teams go BPA almost always. Look at the MIchael pick last year? I think people get way too caught up in drafting for need all the time. Of the guys they lost, how many were 2nd round picks or better?

Fair enough...I should have better stated I don't think Seattle would view Kelvin Benjamin as the BPA nor an area of need. I just don't see where he fits....if he fell to the 3rd round he would be great value or I could see them waiting a bit throwing pick at a different big-bodied WR with better skill in the run blocking game. I'm not saying it is a horrible pick - I just don't see the fit with Seattle at the premium price point.

In fairness I'm wrong a LOT just ask my wife

Packers take Austin Seferian-Jenkins
still on the crack pipe.

Not only wrong on the players, wrong on the positions.

Repeat after me. The Packers are not taking a 4-3 dend project olb in the 1st nor are they taking a slow, but large, TE in the second

So let's see, through 2 rounds (gets dicey with all the hybrid positions based on scheme):

QB - 5

RB - 0

WR - 11

TE - 4

OT - 6

OG - 4

C - 2

NT/DT - 5

MLB - 2

DE/OLB - 14

CB - 7

S - 4

As much "likely" fail as I see in this mock, that seems about right. Maybe 1-2 RB's.
