Shark Pool Mock Draft #2 - Let's draft! (1 Viewer)

So the 'Skins are up. Must have been a long first round. I'm guessing they just watch RG3 YouTube highlights the whole first round.
At least they'll have highlights to watch. The Colts gave up their first rounder for Trent Richardson.

Yeah, the Mettenberger trade...uh, no.

Ebron is good value, but Arizona doesn't use the TE position. Not seeing that either.

Demarcus Lawrence to Saints - good pick. The kid's shooting up the charts.

The Redskins have been extremely active in free agency and appear to have filled a lot of their weak spots. At this point, I think this is a big value here. They still need some more beef to keep from being pushed around on the defensive line.

2.02 (34) - Washington Redskins - Louis Nix III, NT - Notre Dame

2.1 Timmy Jernigan, DT/DE FSU

After trying to unsuccessfully move up a few spots to get a sliding Ebron, the Texans take by far the BPA. He will be plugged in at DE as another disruptive force opposite Watt. We are building a championship caliber defense.
Great value, no doubt. But dont know if the Texans pass on a QB, especially w Carr there.

Defense would be monstrous tho
Houston is not taking Carr, no way, no how. There would be rioting in the streets.

Great pick and best value of the draft thus far. If I had a team with a need at DT, especially 3-4 scheme, I'd have tried to trade up to pick Nix.

With Pick 2.03 (35) The Carolina Panthers take Cyrus Kouandijo, OT - Alabama

At this point the value and need come together similar to last year's pick of Star Lotulelei...we are hoping we come away with swimilar on field results. Kouandijo didn't have to go back to Indy and Dr. Andrews gave his knee the all clear. Yeah his combine was disappointing but his tape was not. We are hoping for similar result as we got with Star last year...If he plays to his potential for 4-5 years we will be happy. In 2012 I thought he was more impressive than Fluker.

With Pick 2.04 (36) The Oakland Raiders Select Derek Carr QB Fresno State

This is a no brainer pick. The other two QB's on the Raiders roster are Matt Schaub and Matt McGloin. Matt Schaub is getting long in the tooth and didn't exactly have a stellar 2013 season and McGloin is a decent backup.

It is out there that the Raiders have a "Massive Crush" on Derek Carr. I was trying to trade the 5th pick in the 1st round to hopefully aquire more picks since the Raiders don't have a 5th or 6th rounder and Carr might have been my pick if I had been able to trade back some in the 1st round. To land him in the 2nd round is a win for the Raiders. By having Schaub on the team this will allow the Raiders to sit Carr for a year or two while Carr get use to the speed of the NFL.

Other players considered were Dee Ford, Allen Robinson, ReShede Hageman, and Scott Crichton.

Raiders Draft:

Khalil Mack LB Buffalo

Derek Carr QB Fresno State

Maybe Trent can send the front office some of his sex tapes to pass the time.

Exactly

With the 39th pick, the Jaguars select OLB, Kyle Van Noy.

A starting spot just opened up with the release of Russell Allen. He's a huge upgrade for this defense. The coaching staff spent a good amount of time with Van Noy at the Senior Bowl, so they are pretty familiar with him.

the last mock draft here failed because the person drafting did not understand that there is little to no chance the Texans will try to sell another Carr to the Texans. the relationship between the Carr family and the Texans also ended on a sour note.

40. Vikings select Jimmie Ward, S

Moving up draft boards, love the fit with Harrison Smith.

With huge needs on the OL at both OG and ROT, the Buffalo Bills will use their 2nd rounder here to pick the highest ranked prospect. Very happy about this one since I think he should actually rank higher than Xavier Su a'Filo and actually did on most draft boards until recently. So with the 41st pick of the draft, the Buffalo Bills select:

OG David Yankey, Sanford.

Titans select Lamarcus Joyner - CB - Florida St.

I wrote out three different corners names for this pick.

*on my phone if someone wouldn't mind making that pick stand out more.

Giants here - pick coming shortly (maybe next 20-30 minutes depending on any trade offers). Send over trade offers if you're interested in moving up.

With the 43rd overall pick, The New York Giants select Antonio Richardson - OT, Tennessee

I'll be the first to admin I am not someone who is good at evaluating offensive line talent, so I had to rely on information online. I've seen Richardson ranked on a lot of big boards from anywhere to the 20th overall prospect to somewhere in the mid 80's. Although some sites have him going in the third round, I highly doubt he makes it to us. Offensive line has been going much quicker in this mock than in almost anyone I have seen. Richardson's probably either the next tackle selected, or within the next three tackles selected, but I have him ranked as the next highest rated tackle. I think he's a great value pick and someone that meets the team needs. He did a great job in pass protection this year, especially against freak athlete Jadeveon Clowney. WalterFootball.com has him as the second rated offensive tackle in pass protection, and that is definitely what the Giants need. From what I read, he's projecting to a right tackle at this point, and the only thing holding him back from being a left tackle is technique. Hopefully, the Giants' have good OLine coaches that can help Richardson get to that point. From what I've heard, Pugh is awesome, but he may be lacking ideal size to be a left tackle in this league. Maybe over time, Richardson becomes the left tackle and Pugh becomes a right tackle, I'm not really sure. With Will Beatty coming back from injury hopefully before training camp, I believe it's possible that a position of weakness in 2013 can become a position of strength in 2014. I believe both Pugh and Richardson have the ability to pull inside and play guard. I'm not sure about Beatty's return from injury, but I want to let these three guys battle for the two starting tackle positions, and maybe we can kick the loser of the battle inside if he has the versatility to play inside (I'm not sure if Beatty does).

I was not 100% on board with the Barr pick for the Giants, but with Richardson being here in the second, and after reading a bit more, I'm seeing the logic better than I previously did. The Giants like freak athletes and think they can turn them into something special. They did that with JPP, and maybe they can do it with Barr.

Pick 44. St. L - Ra'Shede Hageman DT - Minnesota

Probably not going to be a popular pick as I'm sure most everyone wants a WR here. I've got a 1st round grade on Hageman (top 25 actually) though and he's just way too good to pass up at this point. St. L will work him into their Dline rotation and field one of the scariest Dlines in football. Hageman is a versitile player who can play inside or outside but will more than likely spend 90% of his time inside. He is clearly the BPA at this stage so he's not falling any further.

Rams picks so far;

1.02 - Greg Robinson T - Auburn

1.18 - Calvin Pryor S - Louisville

2.12 - Ra'Shede Hageman DT - Minnesota

Nice pick. In the last mock, I traded down twice in the first round (still with Giants) and took Hageman in the late twenties.

1.21 Packers take Kony Ealy DE Missouri
NoNONO. Throw away the crack pipe.

Why in the world would the Packers take a 4-3 DE when they play the 3-4? To convert to OLB when they just picked up Peppers and have Neal to be opposite Mathews? Not in a million fracking years.

Pretty great haul for the Rams here and there are plenty of WRs left out there to take a shot on.

***TRADE***

St. L gives; pick 75, 110 and 153

Indy gives; pick 59

With St. L holding 13 total picks in the draft and Indy holding only 5, this trade makes sense for both parties IMO. St. L is happy to move back up into the end of round 2 as I see some value there. Indy I'm assuming just wants to try and get more out of this deep draft class with the extra picks.

Edit to add the draft pick calculator favors Indy a bit in this trade, 310 to 319.2. Like I said, I see some value in the end of this second though so it's worth it.

ATL fans should be excited!!!

When I drafted Lewan at 6 I was hoping that a couple of nice Dline would be here at the 2nd pick (Very deep draft for D-lineman).

I never would have thought Ford would still be there though.

A true first round talent available here and a need for him.....GIDDY!

Thanks to the fanatic for drafting for me. I didn't want to slow down the draft over the weekend.

Lewan and Ford, Yes Sir!
