Shark Pool Mock Draft 2011 - 4 Rounds (1 Viewer)

Admittedly, I don't think that I would have the knowledge of prospects enough to go another round. For the first 3, there are plenty of sources that guess who will be taken in those rounds, but those prospect lists start to thin out in the 4th round on.

I would just basically be picking either home-town players who I have seen (and I admittedly have someone I could target at the beginning of the 4th), but I don't think I would do it justice.

I will be out of town for a week so I can't do anymore. Thanks though guys, it was fun. This helped me learn a lot about the prospects in this years draft.

New York Giants

Grade B+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

19. New York Giants (J Andersson)

+Gabe Carimi OT, Wisconsin

> Brooks Reed (OLB, Arizona)

Shane Vereen (RB, California)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think Costanzo will be the best OT prospect so begin with a B- but Brooks Reed is one of my favs of this draft and looks like an incredible bargain late in the second so the grade bumps up to a final of B+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not here to ##### and whine about the grade, it's more than fair.Just want to point out that I also believe Castonzo is a better fit (not sure he's much better than Carimi but he's a more legitimate LEFT tackle prospect at this point), however he wasn't available when I picked so it's pretty damn hard to pick him. Unless of course you feel I should have moved up?
Look at from a viewpoint of someone seeing two OTs who rate above the rest so the next highest ranked player would obviously earn a lower grade thus whoever drafted outside of the top two would automatically garner a lower grade by no fault of the person drafting so the grade is objective and not a reflection on the person making the picks but a sheer stark look at the quality of the players drafted.Basically the first Mendoza Line was crossed at the OT position after Ty Smith and Castonzo were taken off the board so the next team who got the lower ranked OT got a lesser grade. I noted Castonzo for that reason not as an accusation of the team drafting the next ranked OT, it was a note to myself as to why a lower grade was given.

Final draft grades:

Kansas City Chiefs

Grade C

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

21. Kansas City Chiefs ( KCitons)

+ Phil Taylor (NT, Baylor)

Jerrel Jernigan WR Troy.

T.J. Yates QB North Carolina

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taylor fits the KC scheme but wasn't a bargain where he went off the board. I like Jernigan but he went about where he should have gone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Indianapolis Colts

Grade B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

22. Indianapolis Colts (Cipherchris) -

+Corey Liuget (DT, Illinois)

> James Carpenter (OT, Alabama)

DeMarco Murray (RB, Oklahoma)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solid B beginning with Liuget but would prefer a better O-Line upgrade than Carpenter. Draft hinges on Liuget but he looks solid for final grade of B-.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia Eagles

Grade C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

23. Philadelphia Eagles (JetMaxx) -

+Nate Solder (OT, Colorado)

> Rodney Hudson (OG, Florida State)

Curtis Brown (CB, Texas)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

All decent values but no blue chippers or big upside, C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Orleans Saints

Grade C-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

24. New Orleans Saints (adrenaline )

+Muhammad Wilkerson (DL, Temple)

> Tandon Doss WR Indiana

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luv Wilkerson but he hails from a small school and needs to prove himself so he looks like a reach that high in the first round. Doss also seemed like a minor reach in the second and the Saints lack a third rounder to drop their grade down to a C-.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seattle Seahawks

Grade C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

25. Seattle Seahawks (bleachercreacher) -

+Jimmy Smith (CB, Colorado)

> Will Rackley (OL, Lehigh)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jimmy Smith comes into the league as one of the biggest and strongest corners but also with a rep that he isn’t a team player and with a checkered drug past to start out with a C+. No third rounder to bump up the final grade of C+.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baltimore Ravens

Grade C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

26. Baltimore Ravens (gerome ) -

+Derrick Sherrod (OT, Mississippi State)

> Ras-I Dowling (CB, Virginia)

Edmund Gates (WR, Abilene Christian

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sherrod and Dowling provide decent value where they went off the board.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Atlanta Falcons

Grade B

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

27. Atlanta Falcons (No Way Jose)

+ Mark Ingram (RB, Alabama)

> Luke Stocker (TE, Tennessee)

Christian Ballard (DE, Iowa)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ingram is a blue chip stud but damaged, Ballard is a solid talent but not best fit for a 4-3 yet could slide inside.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

New England Patriots

Grade B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

28. New England Patriots (Tackling Dummies)

+J. J. Watt (DE, Wisconsin), Benjamin Ijalana , OT, Villanova

> Mikel Leshoure RB, Illinois Leonard Hankerson WR, Miami

DeMarcus Love, G, Arkansas

Stephen Schilling G Michigan

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watt is solid and fit’s the Pat defensive scheme and is a need but the Patriots gave up Richard Seymour so it cancels out a good solid start so onto Ben-I who rates lower than Sherrod to start out with a C-. Leshoure and Hankerson bump up the final grade to a C+ and last year’s dealing of Rany Moss for an extra third round choice kicks up the final grade to a B- but can’t go higher since the net margin of talent lost/gained doesn’t justify a higher grade.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chicago Bears

Grade B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

29. Chicago Bears (Grimace59)

+Akeem Ayers LB UCLA

> Stefen Wisneswski C, Penn State.

Terrell McClain DT S Florida

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like Ayers and where he went off the board, the same goes for Wisneski, B-.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Jets

Grade D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

30. New York Jets (Kruppe) -

> Allen Bailey (DE, Miami) Titus Young WR Boise St.

Dontay Moch, DE/OLB, Nevada

Dontay Moch, DE/OLB, Nevada

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t know why the Jets dropped down in this draft and don’t feel that Bailey is a good fit for a 3-4 and I’m not sure he rates where he went off the board in the second round. Grade D.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pittsburgh Steelers

Grade C-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

31. Pittsburgh Steelers (BigSteelThrill)

+ Brandon Harris CB Miami

> Marcus Gilbert (OT, Florida

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harris is small and plays small. Gilbert is’s a huge slow-footed RT who will get a QB who stays in the pocket too long like Ben killed, C-.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green Bay Packers

Grade B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

32. Green Bay Packers (fatkid) -

+ Justin Houston (OLB, Georgia)

Jurrel Casey - DT/DE USC

James Brewer, OT Indiana

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Houston looks solid and decent value where he went off the board. C+ Jerrel Casey was a value where he went after trading down and acquiring an additional fourth round pick to bump the final grade to a B-.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the 33rd Pick of the 3rd Round

the Carolina Panthers select Cornerback, Johnny Patrick from Louisville.

Lets find out how many owners are willing to do four. Even if 4 or 5 aren't we should not have any trouble finding new ones.

The Bills are in. I have 3 or 4 guys I like here and I think I should be up soon. Can we get the order put up so we can know when we pick?

The draft isn't how I wanted it to go. I wanted more help at OT or OG, but I didn't feel like the value was there. I read Football outsiders, and they have Houston as the 2nd best pass rusher in the draft based on his production and combine numbers. I think they need to worry about replacing Cullen Jenkins pass rush abilities, and Houston was the best player for that goal at that spot.I was hoping that Carpenter would be available at the end of #2, and he went 2.22 to the Colts. For my second pick, it really was a coin flip between Boling and Casey. Once I had the option to trade down, I thought I could get Moffit at 4.5, so I went Casey based on later DT/DE availability.

I am not 100% sold on Brewer, and I may have felt better about taking Moffit. I am confident that Moffit will be a decent pro, I am not confident that Brewer will be. I explained my logic on the pick, but I would do it differently at this point.

New Orleans doesn't have a 4th rounder but I will be happy to fill in for another team if needed.Packers would be my 1st choice but will take any team if current Green Bay drafter shows up.

Feel free to take the Packers. I have two picks (Maybe 3 as I didn't check the Comp pick for Kampman). I have a work trip this week, and will not be at my desk for the next couple of days. As a fellow packer fan, I am interested to here who you would have picked at the same spots I did.

Woodson isn't going to last forever & I'm satisfied with the Pack's current LBs so I would have taken CB Aaron Williams in the 1st. At 3.05 my pick would be the same as my pick at 3.08 for the Saints with RB Kendall Hunter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, it's fair to compare players within the context of a draft, not to former members of the team that went to Pro Bowls. Secondly, Sherrod was taken a few picks before Ijalana and the difference in rating between the players at NationalFootballPost was 7.0 to 6.9. BTW, Schilling and Love both are in the top 7 of available guards.

The Chargers are in for another round (I'd even go all the way through seven).

Chinawildman, before I forget great job organizing/running this mock draft.

If the Pats miraculously got the 17th pick in the first round without giving up anything then I would agree that the context would be to only compare draft picks with draft picks but when a future pick is traded for a player and the player has produced for two years then I will factor in the player given up for me to make sense of the context of what was given up for the pick so in my evaluation I zedded out the trasnaction because Seymour already has two years of service in for the Raiders that Watt would have to make up before he could start gaining ground and I feel that if they play this year that Seymour will gain more ground on a rookie. Maybe sometime by Watt's third season he will start to overtake Seymour but I can't precict that far. So if you feel I can't do that then I respect your opinion to disagree with me but I hold to my opinion. My grade on rookie first round picks has already been established, how others rate a specific player is in a general context. We have this particular mock as the context of how the players went off the board and its clear that everyone is of a consensus that this draft is rich in defensive linemen and only one O-Lineman rated a top-ten selection. I felt that their was a dropoff from the top-two O-Linemen and used the top-two OL as my baseline.

If you study past drafts the talent floor bottoms out somewhere after the top third of the second round but for some positions it varies. In this draft I feel the OL floor may bottom out sooner than expected and I feel there are few blue chip OL prospects and only a handful of decent prospects. I felt Ben-I would have gone later in other drafts but this draft is weak at the top at the O-Line position IMHO so he got taken sooner that where I've seen him go in most mocks.

Honest mistake of just not transering all of the picks into my draft grade post but I have followed the draft, I did the same thing with New Orleans and with Cleveland and I'm a Browns fan so I definitely had all of the picks noted before making the final grade.I thought two others were going to give their draft grades, where are they?

With the 4.3 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select:

John Moffitt - OG - Wisconsin

I feel that the Bills are again getting great value at a postion of need. There are talks that the Bills will be moving Eric Wood over to Center permanently and will open up a spot for Moffitt to come in and potentially start. After taking Cam Newton with the 3rd overall pick it would be nice to help get him a little more protection. I've seen Moffitt usually going in the 3rd round of mocks and at one point was ranked ahead of certain guys while in Mayoks top 5.
