Another power offensive position move. I like what you did with the 2nd round a lot. Yet another weapon to help out Rodgers.Nice work so far.60- Green Bay - Fred Davis TE USCThis is another good value pick. They need another guy to replace Bubba Franks and will open up the middle even more.
Thanks, I've been tempted all along to go with need picks...but the value just trumps it. I wanted to go Oline, Dline, or WR. Mainly WR b/c they need someone to replace Driver soon, not yet sold on James Jones.Another power offensive position move. I like what you did with the 2nd round a lot. Keith did average 4.4 ypc that's good enought o not NEED to be replaced IMO. I don't know much about Jones, but if Bill Polian were to make that pick, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Question: Is Freeney going to be ready to start next season?I don't. Kenton Keith is not good. Especially considering the backs that remain available.I like the Jones pick, though.I would think a WR or another CB or another DT are all bigger needs than another RB.As a Colts fan I think DE seems to be the biggest need and there seems to be a bunch of undersized-quick pass rushers available..2nd RB would probably be tied with Oline for 2nd need
Davis is a steal here, I gave him some thought with the Carolina pick.Personally I think he's the 2nd best TE in the draft.Another power offensive position move. yep. I almost took him for Detroit.Jones is a guy that a lot of people will say "Who?" when he's drafted in the 2nd. But he's proven he belongs. And Indy's DE depth was exposed when Freeney went down. This is what I was referring to with the "wildly unpopular" pick. Maybe I was wrong, but I stick with Jones.I don't. Kenton Keith is not good. Especially considering the backs that remain available.I would think a WR or another CB or another DT are all bigger needs than another RB.As a Colts fan I think DE seems to be the biggest need and there seems to be a bunch of undersized-quick pass rushers available..2nd RB would probably be tied with Oline for 2nd need
He also had key drops and fumbles.. with Addai's injury history and their use of two backs, they need someone they feel comfortable starting.. not sure Keith is that guy... I think he's just good enough where they can take other positions if value presents itself.. but the value could easily point to an upgrade at RB #2WR: their top 3 guys (4 with Clark) are great, but nothing after that so another one would be great but possibly overkillKeith did average 4.4 ypc that's good enought o not NEED to be replaced IMO. I trust TT and his scouting staff to pull good OL talent in the mid to late rounds, there's nice depth there and some good fits for the zone scheme. The time is now to get the potential impact guys which is exactly what you're doing. Fred Davis was a better choice than any WR on the board right now. It's the same reason I took Dustin Keller for Tennessee instead of a WR with my 2nd pick. The TE's at this point in the draft are worth more than the WR's.Thanks, I've been tempted all along to go with need picks...but the value just trumps it. I wanted to go Oline, Dline, or WR. If thats who he wanted, then so be it. Dallas decidedly needs CB depth. He could very well be the nickle during the year.I probably would have gone with either NT Red Bryant, or WR Earl Bennett. Red would fill the missing element from Dallas' front 7, a big run-stuffing NT to soak up blockers. That would really help their run defense and free up the ILBs to make plays. Now, run defense didnt really cost them games last year, but came darn close with Detroit. Everybody talks about needing a WR. And I somewhat agree. A speed guy would be nice. But really, a guy who can beat single coverage is ultimately whats needed. And Bennett can do that. And he has the hands to catch it once he does get separation.Another scenario that I was running through my mind was taking Phillips at 22 instead of Stewart. Here at 61, the pick would have been Matt Forte. Right now, we have Steward, Talib, and Lee. Under that other scenario, we'd have Phillips, Talib, and Forte. At the end of the day, I'd be happy with either one.Jockstrap was here, but now gone. He sent me a pick before, I hope he wants to use it.61. Dallas (LarryAllen'sJockstrap) - Patrick Lee, CB - Auburn
I think CC told me to just go on without him. I know just the guy the Patriots would like at this spot.62. New England (Chaos Commish) - Cliff Avril, DE - Purdue
I'd love to see him replace fellow Boilermaker Colvin.Hey man, it's all good.I openly questioned the pick because I found it to not be a need. The Eagles were openly questioned for taking Kolb in Round 2 last year.If this pick gets made as you suggest, you'd have to expect a similar line of questioning. Being able to explain why you took him speaks more volumes than the pick.I like the "WR in a TE body". That I can deal with. Personally I think they might go for a different WR, but that's my take and my own. We all have our own opinions. It's all a discussion - nothing more - didn't mean to sound as if I'm attacking you or your pick. Just voicing my thoughts.True. I come off as defensive. You are coming off a bit elitist to me.Keller is a WR in a TE's body. He can create mismatches with other teams defenses that any of the wr's on the board can not. WR, DT, DE, and DB are probably Tennessee's needs with WR being the biggest. They really need a franchise #1 WR. Is there one in this draft that blows anyone away and is an obvious franchise NFL WR? I'd say no.Wow, someone's defensive.Excuse me if I choose not to do the cookie cutter style mock where my team falls in line picking based solely on needs from the top of their list down. I don't see the choice as odd at all. Maybe I can just see the big picture better than others. No prob, Andy.It just struck me as an odd choice.I wasn't deriding the validity or your question. I was just giving a counterpoint. Sorry if it came off snarky.Yes the Titans have other needs. But as much as the like the TE spot, adding depth with talent like that isn't beyond possibility.Hey - it's a valid question..... if you disagree and are picking based solely on talent value, then I can see the pick. However, if I have bigger needs, I may look in another direction if I'm the GM of a team that made the playoffs last year and might want to try to get better for the current season.Do teams always draft what they need? Sometimes it's better to make strong areas stronger than weak areas less weak.Crumpler is breaking down and Scaife is just average. I would say the Titans passing game needs all the help it can get.Does Tenn really go TE?Don't they have bigger needs somewhere else? They have Crumpler and Scaife (and Troupe IIRC) - TE doesn't scream "need".
Yup. Got it.Hey guys. footballman_696969 seemed a bit reluctant to take up the Giants. How 'bout we make a consensus pick?Andy, did you get my PM this morning?
This kid is $$$.I asked some fellow Hokie fans what's the deal with him (as I didn't see him much in action this year, despite watching many Va Tech games) - and the reason is basically this. He's a shutdown corner, so the opposition gave up on that side. That's pretty telling. A shutdown CB seems to be more of a rarity anymore, so if that's really the case (and I believe it) then he's going to be a great value at this point of the draft.I'm amazed he dropped this far. I'm sure a number of teams would have been moving up to grab him well before this..That pick would probably make the Jags the deepest team in the league at CB.58. Brandon Flowers, CB- Virginia Tech. The Jaguars target a corner here in an attempt to bolster their secondary.
I was really considering him hard for Tennessee. This is ridiculous value at the end of the 2nd round imo. May have the best man cover skills of any corner in the draft.58. Brandon Flowers, CB- Virginia Tech. The Jaguars target a corner here in an attempt to bolster their secondary.

Really think they're going to go RB here, especially if Adibi and Connor are gone.Sorry about the delay. Got called away for work. I tried to explain that I was Bill Polian, but they weren't buying it.59. Colts:I would think a WR or another CB or another DT are all bigger needs than another RB.As a Colts fan I think DE seems to be the biggest need and there seems to be a bunch of undersized-quick pass rushers available..
2nd RB would probably be tied with Oline for 2nd need
Jason Jones, DE Eastern Michigan
Seems like a good pick.Linebacker for the Giants?
Sure.Linebacker for the Giants?
Henderson gets my vote.Tavares Gooden? Erin Henderson?
Anyone else?Henderson gets my vote.Tavares Gooden? Erin Henderson?
This was my strategy for the first two rounds. There were three areas I wanted to tackle.1. CB - Had to walk out of the first two rounds with at least one CB; preferably in the first.2. RB - After Barber, there is not another RB on the roster. I wanted a player that can fill the Julius Jones role from last season, but better.3. DB/WR - More help in the secondary or a deep-threat WR if one was available.Pick 1 - J. Stewart, RB: There were five players I was targeting here; McKelvin, DRC, Stewart, Mendenhall and Jenkins, in that order. four of the five were gone, making Stewart the easy pick. I would have been in a world of hurt if all five had been off the board. I probably would have gone with Devin Thomas at this point as I feel he is the best WR in the draft. Stewart will make for an awesome 1-2 punch at RB with Barber and is a great option if Barber were to get injured.Pick 2 - Aqib Talib, CB: After taking Stewart, I was pretty much forced to take a CB. Waiting until late round two would have lead to a major drop-off. With Thomas off the board, it made the decision even easier. The guys I were looking at were Talib, Reggie Smith and Antonie Cason. I balked on Smith due to the questions surrounding his speed; the Cowboys already have enough DBs that can't play man-deep. I like Cason as a professional and believe he is more polished than Talib; the problem with him (and Flowers) is that the Cowboys need a big-time playmaker/ballhawk in the D-backfield, and neither of those two are elite athletes. There is no question Talib is. He was the only 2007 consensus all-american DB. The guy is a risk-taker and will get burned sometimes, but look at his numbers. In 34 total college games, he had 162 tackles, 43 passes broken up and 13 picks... on offense, he caught 9 balls for 224 yards and 5 TDs.Pick 3 - Patrick Lee, CB: This pick came down to either another DB or a WR. IMO, the top WRs left on the board were Donnie Avery, LaVelle Hawkins and Andre Cladwell. The problem was none of them really stuck out as anything special to me. On the other hand, Patrick Lee really did. I would have taken Flowers if he was available, but he went two picks prior. Lee is another big cornerback that can really run. He doesn't have a lot of experience, but the upside is definitely there, and his abilities as a coverage man on special teams should help with the loss of Keith Davis. If thats who he wanted, then so be it. I think you've made good solid picks with sound logic behind them. They are all very reasonable. The posts I've made have been to add some alternative thoughts to what Dallas might do.Good stuff, these mocks are fun! This was my strategy for the first two rounds. 3rd Round
64. Miami (Gatorman) - Charles Godfrey, CB - Iowa
Probably a good idea for the Dolphins to have at least one cornerback on the roster.
65. St. Louis (Blackjacks) - John Sullivan - C, ND- I know we need help at defense but we need more important help at our offensive line. Picking up Long and Sullivan in the first 3 rounds would help keep Bulger standing and healthy. With this move and the Long drafting you have alot of depth and flexability on your line. You can find descent pass rushers in the later rounds. (I was a big fan of drafting the center out of USC last year with our 3rd pick Ryan K.)

What about the three Free Agent Guards that they brought in? A waste for them?67. Carolina- OL Oniel Cousins, UTEP. Add this guy and Chris Williams to Kalil, Gross(assuming he signs a long term deal) and Wharton and Carolina's o-line is set for the upcoming future.
Those guys are strictly fliers. Fonoti likely won't make the team. Brown and Vincent are ok, but they are more good backup options than starters. Vincent will likely start until Cousins is ready. What about the three Free Agent Guards that they brought in? A waste for them?67. Carolina- OL Oniel Cousins, UTEP. About time that I was the sniper instead of the snipee.I don't like Talib as much as most, but I like the way this looks for Dallas. RB, CB, CB, with all instant contributors. I've thought about safety a lot, and I prefer two corners. I hope they're listening LA's JS.I think you've made good solid picks with sound logic behind them. They are all very reasonable. Thanks, Andy. I love this kid the more I learn. He is a nice fit for the Pats, good size, studious, strong, and a very underrated athlete. He's on my radar for IDP purposes should he end up in the middle of a 4-3.[69. New England (Chaos Commish) - Jonathan Goff, LB - Georgia Tech
