Sharkpool Mock Draft... (1 Viewer)

6.2 Marshawn Lynch

At some point you have to pick up this kid. My RB2 is a little shaky behind Gore with the LJ/Lynch combo but i would feel confident that Lynch will put up very good numbers down the stretch. I said earlier I would try to go BPA, and I don't know many other players that are available and better than Lynch.

Now i need WR, TE

I definitely think Lynch will have a better year than LJ, however I think LJ has some gas left in his tank. I debated on taking Addai here as it seems people have totally written him off, and i will definitely consider him, or beanie if they hit me next round.

I can focus the rest of my draft on my 3rd WR, and a te. TE will be tough, i am thinking that Daniels, Greg Jones and Winslow will be gone by the time things get back to me, and i may have to wait later and grab a Celek, Carlson, or maybe even Shcokey...

We'll see. I don't do redraft, I have been in a dynasty auction league 12 teams for 12 years, so this is new to me.

you really should not throw out all them names that have not been picked.
I think now that we are in the Mock Draft area, we don't really have to think out loud to try to enlighten anyone. It's probably best not to show any cards until they are put on the table, to keep it 'real' (keepin' it real, yo?...is that what that means?)I do like the post-pick banter tho...that helps me alot.

Royal and Lynch, great picks! I agree, I think Royal may even end up Denver's #1 WR fantasy wise. Lynch/LJ as #2/#3 RBs? Solid.

Hope to get to my picks by end of day as I will be unavailable from 6AM-6PM Monday. I am finding this quite entertaining actually!

sorry about that....I think we are all big men and the mere mention of a name should not be a big surprise to the other guys, i think we can all figure out who has been picked or not. Or maybe I just mentioned those names so guys would pick them and I could get the guy I really want...You never know

Ill be honest, I play in a 20+ year league with 20 owners at a live draft... and its become a cardinal rule over the years. Why? Because it has a undeniable effect. We let the jokes and tomfoolery pass, but when names are mentioned we see the influence.I think you need to buy 2 pitchers of beer eeflrat.
Yeah I understand. we have had our dynasty auction draft for years and one time an obscure name was brought up for bid and some one yelled out "that ##### is sweet" and the guy who brought the name up was furious, feeling like that made other people aware of a no name guy.

20+ year 20+ owners!!! WOWSERS. That is awesome. Any keeper rules, or all redraft? How do you have such a deep group of friends committed for so long?!?

With pick 6.3 I will be glad to take my third RB to add a little depth...

Ryan Grant , RB, Green Bay

GB is starting to develop a powerful offense. Teams can't stack the line and must respect Aaron Rodgers and the GB WRs. I like the value I'm getting here with Grant who should have no compeition for carries. He started to come on a bit last year. This may be my favorite pick so far b/c of wear I'm getting him. He and Kevin Smith will do just fine alternating in and out of my lineup depending on matchups. :hophead:

Westbrook

Kevin Smith

Ryan Grant

Andre Johnson

Dwayne Bowe

TJ Housh...

Great pick. Always nice when your #3RB has the kind of upside Grant does. I would have taken him at 6.08 or 7.03 if he was still there.

I wouldn't be surprised if he outperformed KSmith this year. Real solid move.

Darren McFadden - read somewhere he showed up in great shape and started camp off very impressively. Hope injuries don't start popping up.

I need my third RB for byes and he'll do nicely (wanted Grant or him). Who knows, with Lorenzo Neal blocking for him... maybe he'll hold up better with DB's hitting him instead of LB's. We'll see.

There's another player I'd love to grab right now, but byes are hampering my choices a little (if he's there in the seventh I'll ####)... happy with McFadden in the sixth, though.

Rodgers, A.

Williams, D.

Portis, C.

McFadden, D.

White, R.

Avery, D.

Yes keepers and redraft. We do a draft because it allows for hundreds of trades invloving picks during the cycle (auction isnt as much fun + way too long) and we use the Banzai Method. Its a live draft.
Very interesting. I am in a 2 person keeper (exchange the round the keeper was originally drafted in) and starting a Dynasty League this summer with friends and neighbors. What do you do to encourage the trades? Also, what is the Banzai method?

6.05 Joseph Addai

rivers

brown

addai

megatron

shoring up the RB#3 spot. addai is still the starter of a manning control offense, which could mean good numbers for a rb#3.

Roy Williams offers a lot of upside. Physically gifted WR, #1WR in his offense, good QB in Romo, balanced run/pass offense...what's not to like?

As the #23 WR taken he is a good bet to at best outperform his draft slot, and at worst come very close.

My perfect WR3 - High upside, high floor.

7.03 - Roy Williams

7.04 Donald Brown

I think the Colts took Brown with their #1 choice for good reason and I think he will share the work in the Colts high-octane offense from the get go. I was banking on Jon Stewart falling here but I'll settle for Brown, who I think will be a better RB than Addai.

dammit was trying to handcuff Addai and has going to take Brown this round.

I had big difficulty with this either Lance Moore or Roy Williams...to me, I worry about if Roy can be a #1 AND stay healthy. I am not sure he's had a full season in the NFL. I am also concerned with DAL becoming more of a running offense. If he stays healthy, I think he has good upside, 1200 yards, 8-10 TDs?In the end, I felt I preferred the consistency of Lance, who had good numbers even when Colston was healthy, and I preferred the high-flying offense of N.O. I think he's good for 1000 yards and 8 TDs.

Black, your patience totally paid off IMO. I can't believe you got Santonio Holmes that late. He has plenty of upside as your WR2. And Lance Moore is an excellent WR3. He's the Wes Welker of that high powered Saints offense.

How you snuck in Gates in between your WR picks is just mind boggling to me. Good work.

Thanks...I'm feeling a little better now..have to admit I was not happy after all the #1WRs went off the board. Gates was a bit of a reach, but the top 4 TEs were gone by the time it got back, so thought I'd try to be strong at 2 positions if I could.

In a 10 team league Holmes is merely a decent WR3.

7.06 Deshaun Jackson WR

i believe he becomes Mcnabb #1 WR target. thought about shoring up the rb spot. but ultimately decide to fill out my WR#3.

Good pick especially in this 1 pt every 20 return yards format. He probably would have been my pick had Brown been taken. I think Jackson would outproduce a few WRs taken ahead of him in this format.

7.05 QB Tony Romo

I want to solidify the Kurt Warner pick. Who should be elite in points-per-game. One of the few who can actually be #1 overall.

The QBs at this point have some questions and Romo's question is the fact he has never played without Terrell Owens.

Still, his pocket presence, accuracy and scrambling should allow him to be a top 10 performer and perhaps better.

His stats last year were exceptional for 13 games, but he had troubles down the stretch after a broken finger, I expect its fully healed.

I have been drafting wcoff style -- in that trades are not allowed. This picks helps me sleep well in that scenario. Though Romo could have real good trade value.
with warner as your #1, it is imperative you take a good backup. so i think romo is an excellent pick. warner is 37 going on 38. i am not feeling it, this year.

I actually agree that based on last year he's probably a WR3.Reviewing the Targets/Receptions from last year, he ranks around 38th, with only 55 Receptions (821 yards, 5 TDs. Lance Moore, who I took a few picks later was 15th, with 79 catches (928 yards, 10 TDs).I know Holmes had a slow year, but do think he has upside. I like the way he played in the Playoffs and PIT has a very easy schedule.

This seems a bit early for a #2 QB...I would think anytime before the 10th round is probably too early. Romo has alot of upside, but you are already covered with Warner,...unless you really don't think he'll make it thru the season.

I skipped Jackson because he shared a bye with both Roddy and Deangelo. If he had fallen to this point he was going to be mine...

Oh well, I'll take the other Jackson... Vincent Jackson. Rivers has got him dialed in now and as my WR#3 he'll do just fine... or even better.

I think this was too early for a #2 QB...anytime before the 10th round is probably too early.
But he is actually a #1 QB for 3 teams. He just happens to be a #2 on mine. And my #1 is Warner.I dont think a 7th round WR is more important then keeping an elite amount of points at the highest scoring position.

This pick is done with a look to the long run of the season. Its my drafting style.
Well, I can't say much. I did the same with MBIII as my 3rd RB. I don't often fill all positions before getting backups. Romo was a very good value, I considered him with my 6.09 and 7.02.

Let me ask you this... if we were in a live league right now and I asked you for Marion Barber and your 10th for Tony Romo and Beanie Wells would you consider it?
Even tho this is a mock, I personally have no problem with you guys doing trades. It only adds to the realism and makes it more fun and interesting IMO. So if you want to take the hypothetical off this offer I've got no problems unless someone else in our mock league has an issue.

I would not. I might take Rivers and Donald Brown, but not Romo. Romo might be fine, but same reason I didn't take Roy Williams...Roy is no TO. I think Dallas runs the ball alot more. I think Romo is a 24 TD guy this year, with the bulk going to Witten, Martellus Bennett, Felix Jones, Choice and MBIII.I don't like Beanie Wells. Watched him sit the game out vs. UT, and doesn't strike me as a durable guy...also has hands of stone.

Hey sorry about the TO repick...i think I owe a 30 pack for that one. I don't really like my Cotchery pick, would have went Deshawn or RB on second thought. FYI Black I had send loco and choke a list JS, Holmes and then the others...really hoped for him and i think he'll seriously ride the playoff wave. I had thought about drafting Romo for trade bait.

Anyone like Cotchery?

Anyone like Cotchery?
I like Cotch, but not this year as a WR2 due to the uncertainty at QB. When evaluating WRs I always look at them in tandem with their QB. A change in passer always requires a revaluation of the WR and while I like Sanchez as a prospect I don't have high hopes for him as a rookie. But who knows, maybe he'll pull a Ryan/Flacco.

Anyone like Cotchery?
I was big on him last year...think he still has alot of promise. It might take 3-4 games, but I think he emerges as a good #2WR assuming Rex Ryan gets that NYJ DEF to play some good DEF, makes B. Shotty run the ball with TJones, ShGreen and Leon Washington, then sets up the pass. Cotchery is the #1 there now, so you never know how that will work out. Alot rides on Sanchez (but look what Ryan did for Roddy last year...)

In a 10 team league, I like Cotch as a #3. I feel comfortable placing him between 20-25 overall. He should get targets to keep him that high, but have inconsistent QB play to prevent him from getting much higher.

I hate WRs. I can find them later anyway and always seem to draft the wrong ones. I too always pair with good QB just sent the PM too quickly. It's all your fault BLACK! I couldn't wait for you and you took my guy anyway! lol

I'll roll the dice on Jay Cutler and hope he can find Hester, Forte, and Olsen downfield. I'm not a big fan of his this year, but at this point in the draft, this is good value... I think?

Pick 7.8:

Jay Cutler, QB Chicago

Jay Cutler

Westbrook

Ryan Grant

Kevin Smith

Andre Johnson

Dwayne Bowe

TJ Housh...

7.9 cedric benson

i really thought i would try to grab a WR here, but I think Benson holds more value than boards are giving him credit for. as of now he's the RB1 on the Bengals, and in the last 5 weeks of the season he was one of the top backs, and even helped many guys to a title over the last 3 weeks.

I really need to address other needs, i think i am done with RB until the end of the draft
