i had him for 4 years and just traded him away for TO and McGahee in a dynasty league. my thinking is that there is now way he can repeat what he did last year...

is shaun at the top? or is it all down hill from here?

i looked at the last few people who finished the year with 1800+ yards (Ahman Green, Jamal Lewis, Terrell Davis) and they all fell off miserably the next year.

a person who carries the ball a billion times in a year has got to get hurt eventually, right?

Has anyone else looked into this?

Kind of a silly question here, but to your credit you got decent value for your trade.

Is Shaun a beast? Of course. He has so many positives you look for in a great fantasy RB:

1. Great runner - he's got talent

2. Great line - see Walter Jones and the gaping holes this guy gets.

3. Great team - Seattle is a SB contender.

4. No significant injury history

5. Gets the goal-line carries.

Just look at his production. I see very little decline the next 2 years.

Barry Sanders

Eddie George

Daunte Culpepper

Marshall Faulk

Michael Vick

Ray Lewis

Donovan McNabb

that's exactly what i was thinking, Woz....

he has everything going for him. i'm just hoping he doesn't come back and bite me in the ***.

in general though, doesn't history tell us something about the future? if a RB gets 400 carries in a year, does it make him more likely to get hurt the

following year?

i'm just wondering for other situations...

Eddie never had over 1600 yards, Barry had 2000 but then quit 1 year later. i'm not sure how many yards ray lewis has had...

He's beastly, but playing Zona and SF four times a year does not hurt in the least. Whenever I played an owner with SA last year, he was up against one of those "defenses" and hung up 17 or 18 touchdowns on me, I lost count by halftime.

Numbers don't lie. Shaun Alexander is a FF God. Why would you avoid him this year after everything he's done?

I don't fault you for trying to sell high, but it seems like you might have been able to get a little more than you got in return. Of course I don't know the relative cost of the players, so that may make it look better than it seems at first blush.

That's right, great talent, great schedule. Hard to argue. He is my number one. Seems like a smart likable guy to boot.

Serious question: anyone else think he looked slower out there last year compared to seasons past? A few years ago on Sunday Night Football, he broke a 90+ yard TD run against the Raiders. He cruised down the field untouched. Does he still have that kind of speed and burst?

Again, Im not doubting his productivity, but rather questioning if he still possesses the same explosiveness of previous years. Drafting at the top of the draft, those are the kinds of questions you must ask yourself when comparing him to guys like LJ and LT2.

Looked pretty quick on that 80+ yard TD scamper last year against Zona

If anything, he's faster now than he when he entered the league. He said last year that he used to get so excited when he broke a long run that he would forget to breathe properly and by the end of the run he'd be ready to pass out. He worked with a track coach last summer and learned how to breathe properly and calm down when he's trying to take it to the house. He said that he wasn't even winded when he busted off an 88 yard TD run against the Cardinals. And for all of the talk about guys like Clinton Portis and LaDainian Tomlinson being such great home run hitters...Neither one of them has ever had an 80 yard+ run.

Nobody is expecting a repeat of last year because Shaun had an NFL record breaking season. So in a sense, his numbers will be down hill from here on out, but the dropoff will not be significant. When comparing Shaun to other 1,800 yard backs, you have you look at his running style. It's totally different than the RB's you mentioned. Shaun doesn't sell his soul to get tough yards the way Green, Lewis, and Davis did. He avoids the punishing hits as much as possible. He really only becomes a punishing RB when the goal line is in sight. Until then, he's more than willing to run out of bounce or fall to the ground when he thinks a big hit is coming. Simply put, he doesn't have as much mileage on his body as people think he does.
