Shaun Alexander (1 Viewer)

Some people seem to think Alexander is washed up, but can he still be somewhat useful as a bye week fill-in or a RB4? Surely, 600-8 isn't unreasonable is it?

I don't think that is unreasonable at all. I think he'll be a RB 3/4 for a year or two (at most). There is an owner in my dynasty league who is struggling to trade him, but there doesn't seem to be any owner willing to take the risk for a year or two at best. His best days are forever behind him. His value has now crashed in dynasty leagues.

The best thing for SA owners to do is just hold on to him and hope he outperforms his current value. Who knows, he "might" even help some teams in 2008, but I doubt it.

I think his career can go one of two ways. He may be expected to carry the load and just whittle away like Eddie George, or he can play a situational role like Bettis or Dillon and have a nice finish to his career. If he stays in Seattle, and they draft/sign a RB that can carry the load, I could easily see him being a 500-600 yard 8-10 TD guy. If they do not and go with him and Morris, think E. George.

If the Hawks release him, it will obviously depend on where he lands. I think teams like the Bears, Jets, Miami, and the Pats (sneaky play) could use him in a situational role.

basically, if he wants to end on a high note, he better pray he gets released.

In my opinion the fork has already been permanently lodged. He's done as an NFL running back. No burst combined with a lack of confidence. Even if he was to miraculously regain the confidence, he's got no explosion anymore. As a Seahawk fan, I'm pretty bummed about this situation. If they keep him around I think it will end poorly.

He's done. Whoever they bring in to compete with him will end up being the top FF RB on the Hawks next season.

Alexander was injured for a majority of the season and playing behind an O-line which didn't open up many holes for him.

He is not going to go back to his MVP days, but I am not ready to stick a fork in him by any means.

If the Hawks sign an elite calibre LG and fix their O-line woes, Alexander could be productive.

Alexander counts 6.75 million against the cap this year, so I would not be surprised if he was asked to take a paycut or be cut, especially considering the Hawks need money to sign Trufant and Locklear. Alexander simply hasn't lived up to his gawdy contract he signed a couple of years ago after his MVP season.

He was finished before the 07' season started as far as being a difference maker in FF.

He can still get the 600 yards/5-6 TD's though, but what help is that. He's basically WW material.

I agree. What I think FF'ers need to pay attention to early in the season is whether he is used as a GL back. If that is the case, then he could be a nice flex/RB 3 in TD heavy/yardage weak leagues.
