From this month's GQ article on Merriman:
"People in the NFL don't understand what's going on in that man's head," says Merriman's high school coach J.C. Pinkney. "If they did, the wouldn't play with him. He's looking to put people out for real. It's not a joke."
This make you feel any different about the Patriots "disrespecting" Merriman with the dance at midfield?J"You never want to end another player's career," Merriman says of his hit on Priest Holmes. "But it's a violent game." And then he smiles wickedly: "What can I say? Lights out."

All players are proud of their hits.....that's football. We are not talking about cheap shots here. He is making legit hits that are overpowering. If this is thug football then get rid of all the hard hitters.....Harrison, Urlacher, LT, Atwater.....and don't watch them on the highlight reel since it is offensive. In terms of mocking Merriman, it's not just that they mocked the dance. It was at midfield, with choking signs. But karma came back around in the form of the Colts.....
No - doing the sack dance DURING the game is rude and disrespectful. Mimmicking the dance might be rude too, but at least you've DONE something - you won the game. The idea that during the game there is emotion and immediately following the game there is not is laughable. If you're going to celebrate and look like a jackass at least do it when you've ACCOMPLISHED something - like you know, WINNING the game. But no - it's more CLASSY to celebrate individual plays and career-ending hits.
Pretty simple.
Maybe in the next post you can start bragging because the Chargers have a better draft pick next season. GL.
