"slip my tongue in some one else's pie.... tasting better every time."
I think the entire album makes it. I agree not considered one of their classics but it’s up there for me.![]()
yeah, i figured as such - luxuriant vibes eminating outta that one.
so, i think you've already listed a few from "GHS" ... so we add on this one and "Winter" (which you allowed is in at least the top 50, iirc) - then locks in "Angie" & "Heartbreaker" ... hell, the whole album might just make it (i see at least- so under rated, and i've sung it's praises on a few occasions up on this bored in the past ... lookin' forward to the shakeout.
very timely bump, amigo - flight got cancelled yet again, and i had the seious c0ck block thrown on me last night at the airport bar ... im'ma punch a mutha trukkah in the throat up in here ...I just like this thread so I'll bump it.
I was wondering where you were this fine morning. Huh. That is...no good. Sorry to hear of your travails with the women. Friendly, distant, unsolicited, unfun advice: stick with the gf.7:45 pm flight tonight, last one outta Dodge, so, i'm ####ed if the weather turns ... it's currently 70 degrees and breezy up here, blue skies all around ... my gf tells me it's similar skies back home, so - let's see.
anywho ... lovely Polish/Ukraine lass was delayed going to LGA, so she sidled up next to me, and we hit it off like gangbusters ... i started stroking her hair and shoukders whilst chatting .... then some white haired dude jumped in seat adjacent to her, and began clogging me flirt game up - i simply left to grab a smoke, she stayed behind, and old man take a look at my life i'm a lot like you were was in prime job talk mode (they both in the medical field ... he's at Mt. Sinai, she's at Cornell) ... we exchanged numbers and then i kicked dude's chair - OOOPS.
she has daddy issues, methinks (she's 32)![]()
SAGACITY, thy name is @rockactionFriendly, distant, unsolicited, unfun advice: stick with the gf.
Pro tip: smoking. you. must. never. leave. to. smoke. It worked for James Dean. Unless you're him, cigarettes are dead.
But I think the silver lining in this story is that they hit it off so well. Gangbusters, indeed. And in the medical field! Well, aren't they just...givers!
Gonna listen to the second album by The Jam today. Move away from the first one a bit.
I assume you'll check in a bit before you fly. You can do what I did and just start random threads on the plane. Yeeha!
I do hate when they choose that tack of expressing displeasure or disagreement...with the puppy dog pouty face ...
yeah, and she kinda had a Linda Cardellini look going on ... gorgeous hair and eyes, very beautiful young woman - i kept trying to devise ways to get her out the seat so i could check out the body - she finally decided to take a wizz (she was banging Mimosas like water) and i gotta tell ya - that caboose was fiiiiiine - she was tight as ####I do hate when they choose that tack of expressing displeasure or disagreement...
You know what, if you hadn't pointed it out, I'd say yes. Now that you just spaced about ten carriage returns in between yr description and the wondering, it seems worse.yeah, and she kinda had a Linda Cardellini look going on ... gorgeous hair and eyes, very beautiful young woman - i kept trying to devise ways to get her out the seat so i could check out the body - she finally decided to take a wizz (she was banging Mimosas like water) and i gotta tell ya - that caboose was fiiiiiine - she was tight as ####
am i allowed to say those things?![]()

I just thought of something. You can't be more than six hours from Upstate, yet you're stuck waiting on a flight.I LIKE LIVING ON THE EDGE, BABY! LAKE OSWEGO, HERE I COMES!!!1!1!!!

yesh. oh, hellz yesh.I just thought of something. You can't be more than six hours from Upstate, yet you're stuck waiting on a flight.
You, my friend, need a license. I know it's a badge of honor not to have one, but get suburban jiggy with it for a minute. A nice, spanking new, license to operate a motor vehicle. Huge.
Heh. I was just busting your city balls anyway. Good luck with the car. Keep me posted. Where would you garage that sucker?yesh. oh, hellz yesh.
my brothers, who are both up this way, say they can make it back home in roughly 5 hours (leadfoot MFers, those two) - matter of fact, chick next to me on the plane said she was renting a car and driving back if we got canned again ... she was going to Union, NJ - told me she would drop me at EWR or Penn Station Newark to grab a taxi or train home - i thought about it, then started hitting on Cardellini and lost track of the Passenger - thought i found her, but it was actually an airport employee who hit me with "oh, i get it ... all black chicks look the same to you, right?"![]()
but, ya see, down home there really is no pressing need for a vehicle - best transport infrastructure in the world - i can get there from here from anywhere![]()
what i do miss is owning a kick ### vehicle - ironic you bring this up, because i was talking to my bros up here about buying a mint '77 Silver Lincoln Mark V (that was my first ever car ... huge as a studio apt, whopping 7 mpg in the City) - i can bag one for a song right now, only $45,000 via a classic car site i frequent.
me likey. me want.
stay tuned on that one.
well, seeing as how i'm no longer in the City, it wouldn't be that difficult to garage (lotta places in Queens, including my own block, so i can get a space on the very cheap)Heh. I was just busting your city balls anyway. Good luck with the car. Keep me posted. Where would you garage that sucker?
she was kinda coy and light about it - but she meant itLove the "all black..." shtick. When I was growing up, nearly every black girl told me I looked like Patrick Swayze. "No. No I don't. I'm just white and squinty-eyed."
good stuff, they all prolly had a secret crush on the doood.
What pops into your head for '79 and music?Otb makes a great case for '79 in music. And it's not all in one genre.
That was for both. I just quoted him.i know this was directed at gb Hoard, BUUUUUUT howzabout this freakin' gem![]()
lets start with ...That was for both. I just quoted him.
I can get behind all of those -- and cursorily know them -- except for the Elvis recording, which I have not heard. But the rest are awesome.lets start with ...
Unknown Pleasures - JD
London Calling
Setting Sons
Off the Wall -MJ
The Wall - Pinky
Metal Box PiL
Bad Girls - Donna
Armed Forces - Elvis
Regatta de Blanc - Police
Risque - Chic
...tons more, of course
Bram Tchaikovsky's "Girl of My Dreams" which was swallowed whole by the Tsunami that was "My Sharona" is indicative of the depth this year had ... banner 365 days for musicI can get behind all of those -- and cursorily know them -- except for the Elvis recording, which I have not heard. Yeah, I've been up pretty late. Elvis Costello, not the dead one. Braincramp."Armed Forces" is packed with some of Costello's greatest known work ("Oliver's Army", "Peace/Love/Understanding", "Accidents Will Happen") but it's two lesser known gems that illustrate how much texture there was to that platter ... i'm looking at both of you "Two Little Hitlers" and "Green Shirt"
I actually like a bunch of this top 40 style list. What pops into your head for '79 and music?
I really like the second link's albums. First thing that sticks out: Wire checks in at #20 with 154, which I never really listened to, and I love Wire.I actually like a bunch of this top 40 style list.

but the list otb made is what holds up a bit better.
A nice list of albums from that year. Don't agree with the order, but a lot of good ones made it.
