Don't sweat it Biz. That's just Grid being Grid.Sounds like a one Bears fan is a little upset that the 'Skins signed all the players that the Bears wanted to sign (Archuleta, Randle El and A. Carter)!![]()
LOL @ making a prediction for the next decade. Sheesh! Sounds like it's personal opinion and has absolutley nothing to do with fact ro anything else.![]()
Hey scooby, do you believe this even if Simms running the show?I definitely think Tampa Bay is one of the NFC teams that have to be considered favorites. I'd certainly put them ahead of any NFC North team.Seattle might not be as good, but they still have to be the favorites because they're one team where I don't have any questions about the quarterback.Jokes about Tampa Bay aside, I for one was impressed with Chris Simms' development and think they'll be in contention.

Why you ask?Because he was pretty impressive.Did you not see him play last year?Hey scooby, do you believe this even if Simms running the show?I definitely think Tampa Bay is one of the NFC teams that have to be considered favorites. As of now, the Redskins have made two changes to their starting offense and three changes to the starting defense. On offense: Lloyd and Randle El for Patten/Thrash and Royal. On defense: Carter for Wynn/Daniels, someone for Lavar, and Archuleta for Clark.Wow, look at that shake up!It's called a football TEAM for a reason. The players must be comfortable playing as a cohesive unit - and Washington continues to shake things up EVERY flippin season.

Simms went 6-2 to end the season last year, including 3-0 on the road in the division. During that span, he threw 8 TDs to 3 INTs.Bruce Smith was pretty good in 2000 and he really helped Marco Coleman on the other side. Deion was better than most Skins fans, including myself, want to give him credit for. He wasn't that bad. George, IMO, was the disaster. And, Norv just couldn't handle that team. The other huge difference is that the guys being added are either in or just about to enter the prime of their careers (excluding Fauria and Collins who are clearly depth signings). Smith and Sanders were well past their primes when they they joined the Skins, and George of course never had one. This offseason has been similar to 2000 for the Redskins.Skins fans affectionately refer to that 2000 team as the Fortune 500 Skins; they spent a fortune and finished .500. In 2000 and 2006, the team will be coming off wild card wins and divisional playoff losses. In 2000, they added guys like Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, and Jeff George. While not adding names that big in 2006, they have gone all out again to try and make the next jump.Or will all this just fall apart?
The 2000 team was 6-2 at one point. The collapse started just as the first half was ending on MNF against the Titans, when Rolle returned and INT for a TD as time expired. Brad Johnson suffered and injury and Jeff George wasn't capable of winning. Norv was eventually fired and they struggled to finish 8-8.
So, what' different about 2006? Easy: Joe Gibbs >>>>>>>>>>> Norv Turner. Sure, it could backfire like in 2000, but I'm guessing it won't barring a plethora of injuries.
1. Where did I say this?2. Where did you red this on this thread?Hey scooby, do you believe this even if Simms running the show?I definitely think Tampa Bay is one of the NFC teams that have to be considered favorites. Along the way, he showed obvious growth in key areas like game management, reads, and leadership.
Not sure why you would think he wouldn't continue to develope, other than left-over feelings from his college career.
They're nothing... absolutely nothing. Even though they beat my Bears the last two years, they didn't exactly do it convincingly in their home opener last season.
How is the 'highest payroll', 'big name players' and 'big name Head Coach / GM' schtick working out for the New York Knicks this year?
How did your dire predictions for the Skins from last year work out?The Redskins are going nowhere fast.
Bad contracts for over-rated players.
At least they're keeping the same defensive coordinator for subsequent years for the first time under Snyder. That's got to count for a couple of extra victories.... D'oh! I forgot, they're going to lose one of their starting CBs.....
Philly has been ok so far..................but as long as you have that avatar, I'll agree to what ever you say.I think Philly will be back to thier normal ### kickin self next year. They have made some decent moves in f/a... Nothing huge.. but guys that fill needs. If they are healthy, they take the division.

As a Cowboys fan, it pains me to say this, but I think the Skinz will be very competitve next year. I'm not hating, I think Little Napoleon is tired of losing and they are going to surprise a lot of people next season, if and only if Brunell stays healthy. The main difference between now and all of the other big free agent sprees in the past is who they're handing them over to. Norv Turner and Steve Spurrier. Eeuch!
The biggest acquisition this offseason for the Redskins isn't Randle El or Archuletta, it's been Al Saunders.
And you're from Texas. That's a shocker.I think the Bucs should be considered a contender because they were a division winner, and have some youth that should improve this year. The key will be the aging defense....if they can get another couple of good years out of Brooks, Barber, Rice, and Co...they should be in the hunt.I'm not impressed.
Yes, hitching the wagon to Brunell is very worrysome. After his "couragous" '04 season, as gibbs liked to refer to it, he's left a very bad taste in my mouth. I don't think Ramsey got a fair shake and I was against the trade for him to begin with. I think it's inevitable that he's going to get hurt again, I just hope they have the guts to tell him to sit down because he clearly hurts the team when he goes out there with his leg bothering him.As a Cowboys fan, it pains me to say this, but I think the Skinz will be very competitve next year. Agreed. He makes these huge contracts what looks in part as a media ploy to make fans happy and attract players. How much of the money actually get paid? Not only does there appear to be a lot of unmeetable performance bonuses, but Washington is moving guys out as fast as they are moving them in. Stephen Davis got a huge deal that made him a Redskin for life right? He cant keep the same team together and probably wont win any championships because of that. Now I think Snyder does use the loopholes to spend as much as a team possibly can which many teams dont. However the money always looks like more than it really is.Did Snyder get the memo that there still is a salary cap or is he operating under the assumption that it is an uncapped 2007 season?
I disagree. Overall the majority of players end up restructuring their deals. When they redo their contract they get another fat bonus. You could probably argue that in fact they pay out more $$$ by giving out a bonus when a player restructures his contract. He makes these huge contracts what looks in part as a media ploy to make fans happy and attract players. Your premise is asinine. Washington will return 9 or 10 starters on offense from last year (depending upon what formation they run and whether Brunell keeps the starting job), and 8 on defense.Bookmark this thread.
It's called a football TEAM for a reason. The players must be comfortable playing as a cohesive unit - and Washington continues to shake things up EVERY flippin season.
There's not a snowball's chance in hell the Redskins will be the 'power' of the NFC.
Hell, they won't even make it to the NFC Championship Game in the next decade.
Everyone but the Eagles..they've done nothing to get better in the offseason, while Washington and the Gmen have made big splashes...Dallas is about to do the same, with a potential T.O. signing...Eagles have lost their OC, and replaced him with the biggest meat-head this side of Jim Haslett, Marty Morhinweg...eeessshhh...good luck there..Any team in the NFC East has a shot IMO. Tough division to be in.
So you're saying they have regressed, or those teams have gotten that much better? They took 3 out of 4 against Dallas and Seattle last year. This isn't a Bears vs. Skins thread whatsoever.....
Every offseason I have to read how the Skins had the best offseason, and since Snyder has owned the team how many winning seasons have they had? One? Two?
And don't look now, but some young Cane that Snyder has sunk a boatload of money into is about to bite a pillow while somebody finds his endzone.... Nice knowing you Sean Taylor. You're playing on Paul Crewe's team REAL soon.
The Skins can't beat Dallas, the Seahawks or the Panthers as they stand today.

Maybe not....but it sure looks like a GRIDIRON ASSASSIN vs. Skins threadThis isn't a Bears vs. Skins thread whatsoever.....
He's not saying either. He's just saying "it's that time of the year for me to blast the Skins again, like I do every year, since they keep beating the Bears. I guess I'll trot out the 'salary cap hell' and 'spend money like crazy' routines again. People really bite on those."So you're saying they have regressed, or those teams have gotten that much better? They took 3 out of 4 against Dallas and Seattle last year.
I dont understand your logic. WSH beat the best of the NFC last year. Seahawks, Bears, Tampa Bay, didn't even play Carolina, altough I wish we did, I think it would be a awesome game.Do you have some hatred against the Skins?? If so that is ok....hatred is spawned from jealousy.....This isn't a Bears vs. Skins thread whatsoever.....

Other than Seattle (and Philly where I have questions just about everywhere else), every team in the NFC has questions at QB. As far as young QBs go, I like Simms as much as Eli Manning. I might be biased because he carved up the Skins so bad in the regular season, but even when he played worse in the playoffs, he picked himself off the mat and threw the potential winning (tying?) TD that Edell Whatshisname dropped.]
Hey scooby, do you believe this even if Simms running the show?
I can respect that. With all the signings and the draft upon us, it's going to get very interesting. The NFCE is going to be a monster, if rivaleries have died in the NFCE it's a bout to be rekindled and all hell is going to break out and I have purchased my ticket.Other than Seattle (and Philly where I have questions just about everywhere else), every team in the NFC has questions at QB. I said this last year and it's even more true this year - any combination of standings in the NFC East at the end of next year is a plausible scenario.
