Last year Jimmy Rollins entered the year on a hitting streak.

Today David Wright extended his hitting streak to 23 games, despite the Mets only having played 11 games this year.

Do you think a hitting streak should be regulated to a single year and not carried over?

If someone broke Dimaggio's record needing 2 different seasons, would it diminish the accomplishment?

I believe they changed this rule recently.

The way it curently stands a player could start a hitting streak with one team this year, and break the record with a new team, next year

I think it should carry over, but it would diminish the meaning of it. 56 games is about 35% of the season which means you would have to start the streak in the first 65%. That's cutting out a lot of games if it has to be done in one year.

Sure it should carry over. They always made a big deal in football about United throwing TD passes in 47 straight games...
