in all honesty, that may work in some areas of the country, but all the schools i have been in that teacher would have been jumped by about 5 other kids and would have been beatdown. then the kids would have been laughing as they kicked the old man on the ground. and that really is how it would likely go

This, I am a teacher and have worked in both types of school districts. It opens up a huge can of worms and lawsuits from every side if this is allowed.

I agree that he waant "loading up" to hurt anyone and the situation required intervention. That said, he is a large man wirh kids, it doesn't seem like much was required to break them up.

True, but if this was a plain old ordinary public school, more people would have been screaming about the punishment. If It was a private/charter school and allowed. Less of a big deal.
