Show me a better stiff-arm than this (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
I know that Corey Dillon has had a few beauties in his day, but this one kills:

HEARST

It just happened to occur during one of the best runs in NFL history on the same play.

Who was the Jets defender who got  by the stiff-arm on the 20 yard line?

:lmao:

I remember that Hearst run too. I was winning huge in FF that week and lost becuse of that run.

ETA - yeah, the other stiff arm was better. I seem to emember a stiff arm by Jim Brown that was awsome too - but I ain't looking for it.............

How often did you see Ronnie Lott get pushed backwards?

Found Bo when I was searching... it's not technically a "stiff-arm" but I couldn't resist.

He also runs over Bosworth at the 00:50 mark.

Based on your posts today, it sounds like you are begging to go on vacation. As to your question: It looks like the free safety. It could have been Kevin Williams or Corwin Brown or even Darrien Gordon. Hard to tell, and you can't see the number. My guess would be Williams.

LOL.... I actually like the Jets. They are harmless enough, except for that Fireman Ed tool.

NFL Recap (NY Jets-San Francisco)

Posted: Sun September 6, 1998 at 9:28 p.m. EDT

SAN FRANCISCO 36, NY JETS 30 (OT)

Garrison Hearst broke free for a spectacular 96-yard run -- the longest in team history -- 4:08 into overtime to give the San Francisco 49ers a wild 36-30 season-opening victory over the New York Jets.

New York sent the game to overtime on John Hall's 31-yard field goal as time expired, then pinned the 49ers when safety Chris Hayes downed a punt at the San Francisco 4.

But Hearst took a handoff, shed two tacklers at the line of scrimmage and took off for the right sideline. He broke the tackles of defensive backs Kevin Williams and Otis Smith and lunged into the end zone just as linebacker Mo Lewis caught him from behind.

Am I REALLY going to have to bring up the playoff beatings after the '01 and '02 seasons?

That first pick is Taylor, it's in there twice, but not a video. That a pick.

Where are the Charger homers when you need them?

YouTube has taken down most NFL content.

But the best stiff-arm I can think of was LT's stiff-arm of Rams safety Oshiomogho Atogwe this year. It was definitely better than the stiff-arm against Sean Taylor last year.

After you get pass the BS it's about 4:20 sec in.

Sweet, in overtime for the victory.

You were much less cocky after the most important playoff game the two teams ever played. Some pair of HOFs won it in the end, I think.

winner winner, chicken dinner...that was harsh to watch as a rams fan... hey, we have a pretty good offense...another rams trauma-inducing play blast from the past was when LB isaiah robertson inexplicably tried to tackle earl campble high, got caught in the solar plexus like from a charging rhino (or an electric axe handle) & was lifted off his feet & thrown back 5 yards (this is from memory & may be exerageted/stylized, but to the best of my recollection)... if you ever see a earl campbell retrospective on NFL films you will almost certainly see this particular clip... :kicksrock:

Classic.Oddly enough, it's in the Bo Jackson clip that I posted earlier in this thread.

Indeed that was a sweet play. It reminds me alot what LT does every game. I think he uses the stiff arm better than most and he does so frequently. He might be one of best ever at using it.

If a defensive player does that to the running back it becomes illegal hands to the face or face mask. I've said this before I think it is bull #### that the running back can stiff arm a guy by the face and not be penalized. You look at that video and tell me the end result is any different to an illegal hands to the face penalty.

I have posted that Greg Jones Stiff Arm a few times on our League Site. It is by far the best I have ever seen. He lifts the dude off the ground.

They just showed that on NFL network yesterday. Earl put the crown of his helmet in his chest. I just wish I could see his face after he got hit I bet it would have been priceless.

:hot: :lmao: :lmao: Best response ever.

I remember as a kid watching Walter Payton dish out a savage open palm or two.
:goodposting: Payton delivered a 'clenched fist' as often as not, and he regularly served up some of the most ferocious punches/stiff arms/clubbings and blocks I have ever seen. When Payton made contact with the opponent, it was the defender who received the punishment.DBs would  when they saw Walter get past the front seven because they knew they were about to receive a :topcat: and a :lmao: for their efforts to bring him down.
