Good times.

Nice 70's funk. Check out the afros963. Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter 23
I don't think I knew anything about this song until a few years ago, when Phish covered it during their Baker's Dozen - a run of 13 shows played at MSG without any repeats, each night having a "theme" of a different donut flavor. I'm sure some of you will groan at that.
I think Berles son or grandson was Ratts manager at the time962. Ratt - Round and Round
I still can't figure out why Milton Berle is in this video.
I remember liking this song when I was in 9th grade, but I really wasn't into Ratt. I wouldn't say this is really one of my "favorite" songs, but included it for a few reasons.
When my buddy called me one day and asked if I wanted to go to the Ratt concert that night I was like, "not really". He said, "I have a free ticket for you, a limo, and a bunch of weed". I was like "OK". Epic night.
I went to the Kentucky Derby a number of times in my 20's and 30's. We'd always go to a place called The Phoenix in Louisville the night before, who always featured The Velcro Pygmies, and this was my favorite song they did.

I'm way past my Hill days, but sadly - I believe it was demolished - or at least closed - maybe something new is up. I will check deep tomorrow - it was a great place.@Man of Constant Sorrow this place still exist? You ever seen these guys?
Piss off Z!!!!Why only a 1000 songs, that won't even get us out of Texas.
Best line of this thread so far. Some of them, like this one, were in heavy rotation for a while, and I associate them as being a part of my life where I was having a lot of #### going on, and music really helped me get through.
Cool song but I have one question that is really bothering me - what happened to the first 22 strawberry letters?963. Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter 23

Ahhh, wikipedia has the answer . (I didn't take the lyrics as a love letter, rather as more of a psychedelic drug induced stream of consciousness )Cool song but I have one question that is really bothering me - what happened to the first 22 strawberry letters?
Your 1000 songs, how are you coming up with them?Huh?
pretty cool sentiment shuke - I have a lot of these kinds of moments that have stuck with me over the years.960. Young Colt - Brutal & Cunning
You'll see this was posted by WNKU. That was the public radio station of Northern Kentucky University. I first discovered the station when I was attending UC in the early 90's. When I moved back to the area in 2005 I started listening again, more and more as the years went on. For a few years leading up to when they went off the air in September of 2017, it was almost all I listened to. In the car, at work, at home in the kitchen, out back on the patio, doing yardwork, whatever. I know this is going to sound stupid, but when they went off the air I felt like part of me was missing.
There are going to be a number of songs on this list that became favorites after hearing them multiple times on the station. Some of them, like this one, were in heavy rotation for a while, and I associate them as being a part of my life where I was having a lot of #### going on, and music really helped me get through.
Used to make Strawberry Wine.Cool song but I have one question that is really bothering me - what happened to the first 22 strawberry letters?
The top 1000 songs I like.Your 1000 songs, how are you coming up with them?
I'd have some system, 100 blues, 100 Big Band, 100 country etc etc.
Pretty underrated band - they had a pretty nice run and Natalie Merchant put out some good music on her own as well.
For some reason I went to see Alexi Lalas' (yes, the soccer player) band play at Maxwell's in Hoboken and he played this song.962. Ratt - Round and Round

Yeah - I am a huge Merchant fan - like her much more after 10,000.Pretty underrated band - they had a pretty nice run and Natalie Merchant put out some good music on her own as well.
967. Lettuce - Do It Like You Do
I've missed these guys the last couple times they were in town. Hoping to catch them.
Both new to me, and I love them. That second one - WOW.
Oh wow. So many memories of Phoenix Hill. We always went there to dance. Didn't matter what was playing. I don't recall coming across shuke or Big I there.Phoenix Hill Tavern
The year was 1989 - my group had just turned 21. We were rowdy & F'n stupid! One night, during our "warm up" drinking at a buddies house, we got to talkin' bout Melvin Turpin - an ex UK basketball player (sure most here know of him).
The story was: he used to go to parties, and upon arrival, would announce, "The Big Mel is here - who can cover me?!" We thought it was soooo cool - and it worked wonders for Big Mel. Therefore, I got the brilliant idea that I would adopt his shtick - that very night - at Phoenix Hill.
So's...we all got too00 drunk - cabbed it ta the Hill & I went to work. By work - I mean being shot down in flames over and over and over...
Here's why: My opening line to every woman I met that night was: "Hi! I'm the Big I - would ya like to dot me?"
The only dots I got were black - and around my eye area.
I am still called The Big I by all my long time friends. We even have a poker game named after it. The shtick NEVER worked as intended -- rightfully so - and I am truly ashamed of it now - but ..... whattaya'gonna do?
Good Times!
EDIT: Oh - poker game is called "High Big I"
I'm sending links to my non-FBG music friends to make me look good. That’s kind of the point. Hope you find something you like.I only know a few of the songs so far.
Leo Sayer's album The Boy is a masterpiece that does not get its due. Track #1 sucks, but the rest is a tour de force. My top three picks from the record are Bells of St. Mary, When I Came Home This Morning, and the one everyone recognizes, Long Tall Glasses.975. Leo Sayer - Bells of St. Marys
Pretty nice song for this skinny Richard Simmons lookin' cheeseball.
Don't look a gift chorus in the mouth.Your 1000 songs, how are you coming up with them?
I'd have some system, 100 blues, 100 Big Band, 100 country etc etc.
Was just curious how any song just comes to you if trying to go with just a 1000. I would need some sort of system.Don't look a gift chorus in the mouth.
I hear you. My thread is on hold until I develop a system. Was just curious how any song just comes to you if trying to go with just a 1000. I would need some sort of system.
I had the last post in that thread.I hear you. My thread is on hold until I develop a system.
As I've said, this wasn't an overnight thing. I have been working on this for like 8 years.ZenoRazon said:Was just curious how any song just comes to you if trying to go with just a 1000. I would need some sort of system.
I don't think I could do my fav 1000 songs. That would be very hard to do.
So a very serious undertaking, now I get it. BRAVO!As I've said, this wasn't an overnight thing. I have been working on this for like 8 years.
Dude, what about Gut Feeling? We're talking magnitudes.959. Devo - Whip It
Do you remember when this video came out, just HOW ####ING WEIRD it was? It's pretty tame compared to today's world of the internet, instant memes, and fake weirdness. But the song has aged well.
