Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (2 Viewers)

I'm busy working on This Time Tomorrow as in instructed by @krista4
Maybe it will be on the list!  Nevertheless, I hereby release you and your heirs, successors, and assigns from any and all obligations to record the excellent Kinks song "This Time Tomorrow" until such time as you have recorded all 1000 of shuke's songs.

Actually this thread has gone so quickly that I had already given up on listening to everything and resigned myself to using it only to find karaoke suggestions for you!
Just listened to this on the way home.  I hereby revoke my release.  It's sooooo good, and you'd sound so fantastic on it.

ETA:  Also while we’re at it, All I’ve Gotta Do?  Please?

I went to Bonnaroo in 2006, renting an RV with my recent-ex-boyfriend who had started to do a lot of drugs (hence the "ex"), and on the way from Chicago to TN we picked up my step-cousin in Louisville.  My step-cousin had been knifed and nearly died in a drug deal gone bad, went to prison for forging prescriptions from my step-uncle's MD account, and then by that time was completely clean.  It was an interesting combo of people.

I liked Gomez but didn't know a ton of their stuff, but we went to their show there.  After a lot of more aggressive stuff - I'm not saying they played anything at all hard, but other songs had a much more aggressive vocal - this meek guy stepped up to the microphone and said he was going to sing the next song, and it was this one.  It was lovely.  So smooth, and beautiful, and graceful...especially in comparison to what had come before (all of which I loved, too).  From then on, this was my favorite song of theirs, despite the slightly goofy lyrics.  I can still picture that moment of a seemingly shy, sweet singer introducing the song, and that all our disparate personalities were charmed by it.

we thought Ted was a maniac back in the day, just not the kind of maniac he turned out to be.

people may not like this music, but there is no denying how much ### is being kicked here.
Yeah - Stranglehold  kicks it too - but, as I said earlier - the man disgusts me - on many levels.

I'm a very forgvin' dude irt transgressions - I've made a lot myself - but, Ted just don't seem repentant or tryin' to change. Too F'n bad!

I promise to speak no more of him.

What would you have selected?  This is one of the reasons for the thread.
Don't get me wrong.  Love Apology Accepted.  I like most their songs.  Tough to pick one from an artist.

Other favorites:  Cattle and Cane, Lee Remick, Quiet Heart, Darlinghurst Nights,  Your Turn My Turn, Dive For Your Memory, I Just Get Caught Out, Bye Bye Pride.

976. Circus Maximus - Wind

I dare you to stare at this album cover for the entire song.
I laughed at this earlier - in response to the challenge - after seeing the cover.

However, I have finally gotten around to the full listen.

DAMN....this needs more attention.

Jazzy / kinda folky - cool lyrics - beautiful piano (free-form) - vocals very appealing to me - length seems fine, I like long plays/

You say that once knew for sure
But now you're walkin' into shore to wonder*
The more you learn the less you know
The more you move the more you go to nowhere*
You ask a bird as she flies by
Just where she's at she says, where the wind blows*
Ask her by that what she means
She says she doesn't know
But as she flew away she seemed to say

Chorus:

The wind is love is the wind
Wind is my love
Who knows the wind
Who knows my love
Where blows the wind
The wind is my love
You say you staggered to your room
Sleep by day and plot by noon
Your conscious plight
Pack your dreams, you move away
Decide to eat and live by day
And leave the night
City sun blinks in your eyes
You shade your face and realize
a lonely crowd
Then at once you feel the smile
And then the ice warm air moves by
She says the breeze provokes her sigh
Chorus

You say you found another spring
Another joy or human thing
Called lovers
You play your role as a comedy
Refreshing well the tradgedy
Your living
Lovers shore, or so you say
Like the wind love blew away
But as she left she seemed to say

Chorus

This is my 2nd fav so far - to my one and true love - Deap Vally (I wonders if dey have squirrel dere? 🤔)

Can you do the write-ups for all my picks?

978. Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science

One just for nostalgia's sake. I'm 46, so definitely grew up an MTV kid.  People like to say that kids back in the day spent all their time outside from dawn to dusk.  I remember playing outside a lot, in the woods, pick up baseball/basketball/football, riding our bikes, getting into trouble.  But I also remember plenty of time inside playing Atari, watching MTV, and looking at Playboys.
He had a bunch of tunes that I liked on that first album- one of our submarines, pirate twins, wind power. But I loved the follow up that got panned- The Flat Earth- including one of my favorite tunes, I scare myself.

This was great.

I'm just catching up on B-52s chat.  I don't love them as much as most, but Dance This Mess Around is just about as good as it gets.  "They do all sixteen dances"?!?!  (And they never name all sixteen.)
Always really liked give me back my man, and generally like the band.

At a conservative low estimate of 3.5 minutes per song, we are looking at about 58 hours of music here.  :excited:

Love these threads but work is really busy and it is tough to catch up and enjoy the songs.  Hopefully I can listen to some and find some new music to enjoy

Carry on.
