Jim White made one f the greatest documentaries ever, Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus.  It plays like a weird, trippy dream.

From the soundtrack:

My Sister's Tiny Hands by the Handsome Family.  My introduction to this band.

The Last Kind Words by David Johansen

First There Was by Johnny Dowd.  Lo-Fi country

... And my favorite thing of all, interviews with Harry Crews.  If I could have dinner with three people, past and present, I would choose @wikkidpissah, Christopher Hitchens, and Harry Crews.

Honored. Gotta give points for the geography alone. Don't know Mr Crews - will now - but i'd revert my time to have Hitch back on this earth. I'll bring the XO.

There's not a lot of material on Harry Crews.  It kills me that there are *NO* audio versions of his novels with him reading.

Here's a good introduction:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3 ... The story beginning at 3:06 is incredible.

Part 4

ETA: *NO*

The highest praise I can put on the song is that it is probably the best Bob Seger song.  Kinda like being the best Cleveland Browns draft pick.
So wrong here Seger’s great. Fire Lake, Main Street, Beautiful Loser, Turn the Page amongst others are great songs.

Not going to complain - but I'd sure take Turn the Page or Beautiful Loser over the choice.  Maybe even the cover "Nutbush City Limits"
Get Outta Denver and Ramblin' Gamblin' Man also better than Night Moves, imo.

Seger is what he is, but he has a pretty solid catalog.  Plus, at his peak he basically looked like a well groomed loup-garou.  Bonus points for that.

I'm from Michigan so I am biased but Night Moves is the perfect summer night song and Live Bullet is a good album.

I feel that same way about Roll Me Away, which is probably my favorite of his.

Great use in the movie Mask as the ending credits roll.
good call here.

i'm not the biggest Seger fan, but "Still the Same" & "Against the Wind" are cement locks in any playlist i assemble ... they are quantum for those late nights in my basement office  :suds:  shennanigans.

but dude gets a perma knock waaayyyy the #### down as per being responsible for the colassal cultural ####stain that is "Old Time Rock n' Roll"

OH CRAP!!!!

Do they still have The Beast? The racer? All the cartoon stuff?

The Bat was brand new the last time I went. Man, I went lots a times as a kid. Some of my best memories.
Yes on The Beast and The Racer.  Beast is 40 years old this year.  Racer probably 100.

The original Bat only operated from 81-83 and is gone.  A few years ago they rebranded Top Gun,  which opened in the early 90's when Paramount owned the park, to The Bat.

I just lit up so let's do this.
...

Gotta make some nachos.
...

Couldn't find any tortilla chips.
:lmao:  yet

This makes so much sense.

I really missed a great run. I had a lot of real life stuff going on during the holiday. All good stuff.

I'm not! I swear. It is just sooo true.

Believe me. I understand. ☹️

dont stop couldn't not drinking
I'm still working on this. 🤔

You ever been to a wedding reception where this came on?  Horrible.
it's been awhile, but one of the last i attended featured ossified best man sliding out in the tighty whiteys clutching a magnum of champage - using the bottle as his "mic" - ghastly, to say the least - look, i'm all for drunken monkey shines, but, c'mon - this was ####### embarrassing, and will forever live on due to pro videographers present that day.

it gets worse?  YES.

that stunning display of ####stain frivolity was followed by: a) chicken dance b) Macarena c) PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT REPLEAT WITH THE CALLBACK LINES OF STOOGES AND HEIFERS.

forget coke, man ... i was scrounging for a bump of cyanide.

And on that day, a little bit of your youth died. Not because you'd lived it before, it just did.
i wuz robbed, Rock - innocence lost 😥

btw, addendum to my last post ... forgot to mention that the wedding was in Jersey, so, yup ... after all the "low brow" shtick i cited above was mercifully over, we were treated to the lights dimming, and the bumblin'/rumblin'/stumblin' ####faced MoH waddle around with some meathead to "Jersey Girl" (damn straight it was the Bruce version ... would bet my left nut nary a soul at that gig ever even heard of Tom Waits, let alone his rendition).

this was fun.

thanks, Shuke 👉🙂
