Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (3 Viewers)

Shuke's 1011 favorite songs by 1011 different artists.

Not:
Some other loser's 1011 favorite songs by 1011 different artists.
Shuke's selections of 1011 songs by 1011 different artists that he thinks other people will like the most.
Shuke's 1011 songs by 1011 different artists that are considered the best.
You're getting into people's favorite bands, so there are sure to be a lot more disagreements.  And you'll never get people to understand it's your list of favorites, not some declaration of the best songs.

60. Thin Lizzy - Boys are Back in Town

There's a handful of classic rock songs still left in the list that while overplayed, I don't think I'll ever tire of them.  This is one.

U2's best song, by far, was released before 1985.  Deal with it.

I understand completely and I know the premise of his list. That’s my language for saying “I vehemently disagree” and also on the helpful side “Maybe, just maybe, you have not heard all Paul McCartney songs and you might find something you like better elsewhere.”

Love Peter Gabriel. Saw him with Sting a few years ago. He’s done just about everything from the soundtrack to Passion of the Christ soundtrack (which is awesome btw) to collaborations with so many great musicians and his start with Genesis. If I had to pick one song, it would be Mercy Street. Black Uhuru also did a fantastic cover.  So is such an awesome album. I think the last track, This is the Picture, with icon Laurie Anderson is grossly underrated.

ETA: Some collaborations you may like are Big Blue Ball and a few tracks with Afro Celt Sound System.

58. U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday

Very tough choice.  U2's best three songs, by far, (this, Pride, and New Year's Day) were all released before 1985.  Deal with it.
One of the first 10 songs I downloaded on Napster along with New Year's Day (which I prefer to Sunday).  Those original MP3s have made it from CD to CD, USB to USB, device to device all these years later.

64. Marshall Tucker Band - This Ol' Cowboy

You remember before the internet?  In order to get new music you had to buy it or make a tape from someone else's album.  Well, I was always hankering for more.  So while in college I would drive downtown to the Cincinnati public library and browse all the CD's in the media section.  I'd leave with 10 or 15, take them home and listen to them. If I liked the album I'd tape it.  But if I only like a song or two, I'd only tape those, so I had a collection of mixed tapes also.  For whatever reason I wasn't a huge fan of this Marshall Tucker album at the time, so I had this on one of my mixes.   Can't You See is an awesome song and probably the anticipated selection, but it's not my favorite.
Give this one a shot....Charlie Daniels on fiddle.  13 minutes of glory.

You’re the 27th person to say this without offering alternatives.
Glad you asked. I'm omitting Wings stuff.

Album: McCartney. Consider Junk, or (I'm sure you know) Maybe I'm Amazed

Album: Ram. You probably know this album as Too Many People is on it. Others may enjoy Monkberry Moon Delight

Album: McCartney II:  Consider Coming Up (I prefer live versions of this tune, myself, as they are less disco-ey and more rocking)

Album: Tug of War: Consider Here Today

Album: Pipes of Peace. Um...

Album: Press to Play. Um...

Album: Flowers in the Dirt (my personal favorite--I saw him on tour twice in 1989): Consider You Want Her TooWe Got Married, Put It There, That Day is Done

Album: Off the Ground: Consider Hope of DeliveranceMistress and Maid, Cosmically Conscious

Not much more to add--I am poorly versed in his solo work after the 1990s. Enjoy the tunes above.

"Destroyer"
Destroyer is my Kinks fav -

Dr. Dr. help her please I know you'll understand
There's a time device inside of me I'm a self-destructin' man
There's a red, under my bed
And there's a little green man in my head
And said you're not goin' crazy, you're just a bit sad
'Cause there's a man in ya, knawin' ya, tearin' ya, in to to

Silly boy ya' self-destroyer. paranoia, they destroy ya'

... along with:

Apeman

I'm an Apeman, I'm an Ape Apeman
No, I'm an Apeman
Well, I'm a King Kong man, I'm a Voo-Doo man
No, I'm an Apeman

'Cause compared to the sun that sits in the sky
Compared to the clouds as they roll by
Compared to the bugs and the spiders and flies
I am an Apeman

65. Cars - Moving in Stereo

As if the song isn't good enough on its own, for men my age it will permanently be associated with a topless Phoebe Cates.
Not only Phoebe C, but the lyrics are superb!

Life's the same I'm moving in stereo
Life's the same except for my shoes
Life's the same you're shakin' like tremolo
Life's the same it's all inside you

It's so easy to blow up your problems
It's so easy to play up your breakdown
It's so easy to fly through the window
It's so easy to fool with the sound

It's so tough to get up
It's so tough
It's so tough to live up
It's so tough on you

Life's the same I'm moving in stereo
Life's the same except for my shoes
Life's the same you're shakin' like tremolo
Life's the same it's all inside you

Life's the same I'm moving in stereo
Life's the same except for my shoes
Life's the same you're shakin' like tremolo
Life's the same it's all inside you

59. Cream - Crossroads

I originally had this tune slotted for Clapton's solo spot, until I realized it was actually originally a Cream release.  So this knocked Tales of Brave Ulysses off the list.
Solid, solid choice, but - I prefer Ulysses slightly.

And, for a deep-cut that is special to me: Cream - Cat's Squirrel

Alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright

Alright! 🐿️

You thought that GnR pick was bold (dumb)?  Hold my beer.

67. Ozzy Osbourne - Goodbye to Romance

I only had one Ozzy album growing up, Blizzard of Oz.  This was my favorite song on it, just ahead of Mr. Crowley.
I like this pick, but my personal fav has gotta be Crazy Train. Not only is it some of Randy Rhodes best work, but ...

Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love and forget how to hate

It is kinda chalky though - I truly wish that the beginning had not become an anthem hymn.

Some very good ozzies, including the official pick.  But this ones shreds.

Yeah - good one!

I saw Ozzy live in the late 80s in an outdoor arena on metal bleachers. Well, there was a couple one row in front of us and about 4 seats down. They engaged in coitus the entire show.

Over and under, in between the ups and downs
Mind on a carpet, magic ride goes 'round and round
Over the mountain, kissing silver inlaid clouds
Watching my body, disappear into the crowd
Don't need no astrology, It's inside of you and me
You don't need a ticket to fly with me, I'm free, yeah.

alternate awesomeness from the French lyric that evryone thought said she's ... so ####in' A
Hans plays with Lotte, Lotte plays with Jane
Jane plays with Willi, Willi is happy again
Suki plays with Leo, Sacha plays with Britt
Adolf builds a bonfire, Enrico plays with it

I am happy for Willi and worried about Enrico.

I like playing in bonfires though - so - maybe I am over reacting here.

Agreed - great tune if a bit overplayed. Emerald from the same album is probably my favorite of theirs - packs some serious nads.

My Cream fave

So tight among the three of them. And heavily influenced by Roger McGuinn's Rickenbacker twang.

I've always thought Amazed was a Wings song.  Should have definitely been my choice here.

Never heard Coming Up before.  Pretty good.

👍

In a place you only dream of
Where your soul is always free
Silver stages, golden curtains
Filled my head, plain as can be
As a rainbow grew around the sun
All my stars of love who died
Came from somewhere beyond the scene you see
These lovely people played just for me

Those who don't believe me
Find your souls and set them free
Those who do, believe and love
This time will be your key
Time and time again I've thanked them
For a piece of mind
They helped me find myself
Amongst the music and the rhyme
That enchants you there
