14. Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home

A lot of great songs on this album.  Wish they would have made more.
💘

Come down off your throne and leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason I've been waiting so long
Somebody holds the key

But I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

Come down on your own and leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason I've been waiting all these years
Somebody holds the key

But I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

But I can't find my way home
But I can't find my way home
But I can't find my way home
But I can't find my way home
Still I can't find my way home
And I've done nothing wrong
But I can't find my way home

13. Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime

Honorable mention runner up: This Must Be The Place.  I've talked in here a lot about our local non-profit station WNKU that went off the air a few years ago.  I was listening on that last day.  The DJ, who had long been associated with the station, gave a long farewell speech, and went into this tune for the final song, which was immediately followed by static.  I was in the car with my daughter, taking her to softball practice, and I had to hold back the tears.  I really wanted to make this my selection, but Once In A Lifetime is too good.

This is their best song. After this David Bird just got all weird.

This changed all the rules for me when it hit MTV. 🤓

This is a great one too.

I have every Talking Heads album up to Naked - they kill it!

12. Foo Fighters - Everlong

I had a TV in my bedroom when I was a teenager and I grew up watching Letterman on NBC, when it was really good. Letterman is an important part of my life or something, not really sure what I'm trying to say since I'm getting drunk, but I always loved this song, but it sparks an emotional response from me after I saw this.

Actually I'd prefer everyone watch the Letterman clip and not the official video.

Also, this an awesome workout song.  I can't run because of arthritis in my feet, so I use the elliptical.  I often play this for the last 4 minutes of my workout.

You’ve redeemed yourself*, sir or madam. Not a huge FF fan but this is one of the best songs of the last 25 years.  And the Letterman clip seals it.

*maybe

OK - It has been a long road for me in my like of the Foo Fighters.

At first, I was too hard on them and thought that everything they did sounded exactly the same. I no longer feel this way and have come to actually like most of their stuff.

I have always liked this song though - even when it was the ONLY FF song I liked. This live Letterman version is great. I was a huge Dave fan from the early 80's - b4 he really caught on.

And, I offer a Dave Grohl project I love - not FF tho, but I am sure it is not a spotlight.

It is in my Top 25 at this moment:

Sound City Players Mantra Official (with vocals & guitars)

A vision of you there
Standing tall
By the gate

Everything is new
Stare in-to
What is not
Yet

As your bones grow
And you feel the pain
In exchange

Experiences hang
Run round your mind
And collide

Hang your toes
Over the edge
Cause you can

You can switch your place
Hide in-side
If you try

You'll open up your eyes
And realize
How you fit
In the wild

A lion is a lion
No apologies
And a leash
Is a leech

In a corral
You're safe and warm
Pass it on to
A roo she/ every sheet

Time and time again
You stick your self
To accept
Someone else

Give up the wish
Let go of the dream
Barricade
Fantasy

Burn the dogma
Let the fire
Overtake
The desire
To define

I will find a way
To keep this moment
For myself I will find a way

What's raging
Out of control
Like a wheel
Like a storm
Like a virus
Like an ocean
Like a silence
An emotion
Like a darkness
Like a chance
An idea
Like a verb
Like an outrage
Like a sunrise
Like a monster (Like a mantra)
Like a monster (Like a mantra)
Like a mantra (Like a monster)
Like a mantra (Like a monster)

nothing the same
nothing the same
nothing the same
nothing the same

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

And all of this
Will never be the same
Again

BTW, Gale Newman who produced “Everlong” also produced like 3 Pixies albums...which is where he learned about good music.
As chronicled on this very site, one of Mr. krista's best friends is a rock guy who, in addition to his own rock stuff, engineered both Surfer Rosa and In Utero (just bringing the two together for you), and he is a huge fan of Dave Grohl as a person.  And since he hates most people, that is high praise.  I don't love the Foos' music but always rooted for them for that reason.

Oh there are some great stories about Grohl around the Internet. I absolutely believe he’s a truly righteous dude.

And IMO this is one of the greatest moments in rock history in the last 10 years.

Foo Fighters and Rick Astley.  If you’ve never seen it you should.
