SI.com Dropping Football Commissioner (1 Viewer)

SI.com has announced that they are dropping their Football Commissioner product, which we have been using for the past 5 years or so. So I need to find a new home for our league.

Typical 14 team redraft league. Need live scoring. I'm taking suggestions. No explanation required. TIA.

rtsports.com

Used it for last 4 yrs w/o complaints.......paid for my league yesterday (took advantage of 20% early bird returning league fee)...Paid $72

I've already made several suggestions this offseason that they have specifically said they are working on implementing. Also, i have seen over a dozen new improvements implemented already this offseason.

MFL... I've had 2 leagues on there for the past few years and finally convinced my 3rd league to switchover. Cheaper than CBS and just as good if not better.

:goodposting: A solid site.

Not familiar with the name of ESPN products. Could you explain if there is a difference from the ESPN free leagues and their Commishoner package? Thanks in advance and I can put in another vouge for MFL.

Has anyone used CommishFantasy Football in the past? I'm considering it for this year and wondered what their track record was. It's $55 to sign up thru July. Site looks good but you never know.

It's actually not ESPN. It's Sports Illustrated. I just noticed that they are now linking to Yahoo if you want to set up football leagues. They're calling Yahoo their partner. Not sure why but it looks like they're getting out of hosting leagues and just sticking to providing content. I'm sure the dollar is driving it. MFL looks like it could be the runaway choice here. Yahoo Plus doesn't look bad either.

I've used it for 4 years now. Good site. Live scoring was faster than my MFL league.http://commishfantasyfootball.com

Doh! :bag: I heard on the QT that FOX is going to unleash an improved revamped version of their FF leagues, if they haven't already done so, and will partner up with the Scout.com boards.

I've used, Yahoo, CBS, MFL, ESPN, Sandbox, AOL, and I'm probably missing one or two. Of those I've used, I must admit being partial to MFL. Only had headaches with ESPN free boards last year before they worked out the bugs. ESPN irritated me last year and its obvious that they intentionally make their free boards clunky in order to drive folks to upgrade. Yahoo free boards were fine as I recall. I like putting money that would have gone for league fees to instead go to pad a small wager kitty then portion out winnings to maintain high competition late in the season so that even teams who are hopelessly out of playoff competition still have incentive to keep up with thier teams.

Fanball.com offers live scoring, is cheaper than all the other sites out there at $59.95, and is a rock solid product. I have all my leagues on there and am really happy.

 Try TQ Stats. We've used them for 5 years now. They have everything you will ever need and have a toll free number to call if you do have any questions or problems. They fix whatevers it is while your on the phone!! Awesome service!! The email address is www.tqstats.com and their toll free number is 1-800-267-3322. Good luck!! :D

I'd like to hear more about live scoring on MFL or any of the others.
 Really like it a lot and have heard great things from those who have used longer than me - as commish I think it gives you pretty much all you could want plus change, eg extremely powerful/flexible scoring abilities and the built-in "skins" for your web site is a really nice feature if you don't want to mess w/the look n feel yourself. My only small complaint is that the setup isn't always very intuitive, but their msg board/support is awesome and they get back to you very quickly - even when you have a question that is :bag: in hindsight. Not that that's ever happened to me of course, I mean I've seen that happen.

We've used Fanball for 3 years now and overall have been happy with it too. Last year they had some problems with live scoring though. Was a bit unstable to start the year and always seemed to be "off" by a point or two. If a score of a game was 65 - 63 you would have to wait until things were official on Tuesday morning because that could end up being 65-65 or even 63-62 by then. Usually a defensive scoring issue. They would show an offensive funble recovery as a defensive recovery. We've used sportsline, yahoo, nfl.com (couple years back), and fanball. Of those the league prefers fanball.

Easy, bigal. You know as well as anyone the issues that Fanball had last season. Their live scoring was completely unavailable for a couple of weeks, and was still glitchy through about Week 10 or 11 (example: *all* fumbles were being counted as "fumbles lost"). Other leagues had problems with the scoring of individual defensive players. And the Live Draft Room was not a good experience for many leagues. Last season at Fanball was the worst live scoring I've had on any league anywhere, and I've been playing online (Sandbox, CBS, Yahoo) since 1995-ish."Rock solid" is quite an overstatement, IMO.

It might also be fair to disclose if you have a professional connection to Fanball (or AOL), bigal.

:goodposting: Fanball was at an all-time low last year. I don't know where you get off saying it was rock solid. It was absymal. Horrible. Awful. I know quite a number of people that quit.

There had been talks of starting Fantasy Baseball leagues there. I haven't returned to the site since last season, but good lord, excel at your money maker product before you invest in other ventures.

I currently have 7 leagues. Of those leagues, 1 is on Sportsline (Great but Expensive), 4 are on AOL (Real Time Scoring Sucked HARDCORE last year for week 1 and 2, but fine after that), 1 is on Fanball (Same issues as AOL), and 1 on ESPN.

Of those four sites, I liked the Sportsline site the best, but when you're taking that much money out of the prize pool to pay for the league when most the other sites are free, you have to consider other options. Fanball for over 1/2 the price point was a much better deal than Sportsline, and on their boards there is talk of a wireless piece to allow you to adjust your team via your cell phone, but who knows. AOL is free, same with ESPN, but you get what you pay for there. Of those 2, AOL was a better product hands down.

I vote for Sportsline, but the price is too high for some. If you have 12 teams, it comes down to $10 per team (if you sign up early and use a discount code), which in my opinion, is nothing.

I havent used any others so I cant compare (my league has been on CBS for 6 or 7 years -- did you know it used to be FREE??? Thats how long we've been there)

Ahh, I remember the days. I still remember the year (1998 or 1999?) that they switched from free to $120!! That was sort of a shock. Also, that was the last time we used them.I have never tried them, but have always been intrigued by the "Crossover Fantasy Football" site. They are way cheap, and looked pretty stripped down (not a lot of fancy graphics). Just was wondering what others had experienced there?

Anyone check out fleaflicker.com ? They are free and have live scoring, but I think this is the first year for them, not really too sure.

I hate fanball and would not pay for their service. They have had issues for 2 years. I am done with them.
