Sidney Rice to the Seahawks (1 Viewer)

Wow, all FA moves so far have ended up devaluing the players SIGNIFICANTLY. Rice couldn't have went to a worse QB situation and D Will and Stewart take a big hit, if Bradshaw goes to Miami I think that's a hit as well.
Looks that way but I think only DWill/ Stewart are hurt long term. Bradshaw stays in NY and Rice gets help in Seattle. Lotta stuff can still happen.
Ill stop thread hijacking, but it's not my fault you guys don't know anything about any RBs other than Stewart and Williams in Car.There's no reason why Carolina can't put Jstew on the trade block when the free agent feeding frenzy slows down, and teams who were pining for a RB1 are willing to give up the farm for his upside... wait and see what happens.
Why would they do that? He's young, good and cheap. They want the depth of two excellent backs.
Not to mention that the NFL doesn't operate that way very often.
Because I don't know if you watch carolina games, but they have 2 excellent backs, and 2 very good developing backs behind them. Sutton and Goodson. When Dwill and JStew were injured last year, Goodson performed admirably. And the NFL doesn't have month long lockouts with hundreds of free agents and a feeding frenzy very often either. This is a scenario without precedent, and the Panthers have a bumper crop of starter quality RBs, and too many holes to come anywhere near the playoffs. I'm sure some moves will be made.
No farm will be given up IMO.
I'll stop hijacking the thread, but there is a case to be made for moving a player like JStew when they're essentially rebuilding and they'd be trading some roster depth to fill holes on a team that really needs it. It's unfortunate that you guys aren't familiar with the RBs on Carolina that aren't named JStew and Dwill, because they're both starter quality RBs as well.
Rb's rarely get a ton in trades and he hasn't done enough to warrant even a Kolb type deal. They probably want to run the ball 35 times a game. It's their best chance to win games. No teams are punting the season right now, they need to sell a product. It's also how they'll keep their QB alive.

Exactly.

No matter how good the RBs are.

I could argue this and present scenarios, but I'm gonna stop for the sake of the string. Doesn't mean I can't out debate you on this particular point, but as I said, I'm done hijacking the string.

As a Seahawks fan I think the last two days are officially my favorite days ever. Lost the QB I have hated for the last 10 years, gained Gallery, Rice, and TJAX...keep on Hawks.

I will say this, if Fox doesn't make a backdoor move for Stewart I'll be disappointed. We may never hear about it, but Fox is a cagey guy who's been around awhile. He owes himself at least a phone call. Probably wouldnt work but would be a huge coup if he could do it.

What pick would he give for Stewart right now? Makes the head spin a little.
Last time I checked, Fox was not the Broncos GM or President

It's been fun, thats for sure. ....Although you and I disagree a little bit with Hassie. Loved the guy, and seeing him go is sad....but his time had passed.

Well let's not pretend he doesn't have some connections in Charlotte. Alot of deals are made this way. Particularly for former players.

I'm excited about the offense, but I still don't think that Seattle's starting QB is on the roster today.
My thoughts: The plan was Palmer, and Mike Brown is too much of a #####.sooooo....I think we go into the season with these QBs. hopefully get Barkley, Luck or Jones in the draft (although I think this offense carries the team to 8-8 in this division).

I honestly don't see Seattle as being a worst 5 team. Definitely not. They are better than they were a year ago when they won the division.

Andrew Luck will have a couple nice weapons to start with.
I am curious....as an outsider, do you see the Seahawks as really being one of the 3 worst teams in the league?
As an insider they are not very deep w/ talent, the offensive line will take time to gel, and the defense is going to be HORRIBLE. I think they will be one of the 5 worst despite the signings. But how can you not be jacked and pumped about the foundation of this thing. Superbowl is only 3 years away.

But honestly, i think he just wanted the money
You obviously know nothing about Seattle, the team, the facilities and what they have going for them.
Yup. I love having the richest owner in pro sports! Here is what the shopping list should be for the hawks from here on out:1) Mebane. DT is the biggest weakness2) Vonte Leach. They have built the offense to be RunFirst....they need the FB to block for BEASTMODE.3) Nnamdi. <smirk> Just to make me happy.

I have also heard they are going after a Lber

They have a nice nucleus but this is a QB driven league and as someone else said their defense is not good. Maybe their division will save them? If I were a Seahawks fan, I would hope that they got the first pick. With those weapons and developing talent on the OL, it could be a very fast turn around with a guy like Luck. For the life of me I can't believe they gave Tavaris Jackson 2yrs/$8 million. Maybe they are thinking the same thing and TJax is a lousy enough stop gap to get them there?

How are they not calling Denver and getting Orton tonight?? Just crazy to me
Career #s58.8 Completion%, 6.6 Y/A, 4.0 TD%, 3.6 Int%, 7.2 sack%58.1 Completion%, 6.5 Y/A, 3.6 TD%, 2.5 INT%, 5.9 sack%One of these guys is Tavaris Jackson the other guy Kyle Orton (the second one is Orton). While TJ makes to many mistakes to be a winning NFL QB there isn't any reason that Rice can't perform well with him at QB.

Bengals ,panthers(already got newton),seahawks should all be gunning for the andrew luck prize in 2012. I can't believe how ugly this Sea O will be with these 2 QBs. Did anyone watch Jackson in Minny? For every ugly duck pass was 3 handoffs to Peterson

Hawks are nowhere near bad enough to get Luck. I'm no Hawks fan but they are just not in the same ballpark as Cinci and Carolina. No way.

I had Rice on my team in 2009 and watched quite a few of his games as well as a couple of his games in 2010. He is a stellar talent. I think people are overreacting to his situation, especially in dynasty leagues. I do not believe his QB sit can hold him down any further that the mid wr2 area. I will be trying to buy low on him in my league.

With TJax they will be bad enough to make an easy play for Luck if CAR gets the first pick. Not to hijack, but what does CAR do if they get the first pick?

The Panthers are loaded with talent, and some of their key players are now healthy. I wouldn't assume they are going to be near as bad as they were last year.

Maybe Sea is throwing it in to get luck. Kidding but they easily have the worst qb situation in the league. Without a capable qb in this league you can't win games. They don't have a lights out d so everything is pointing to a andrew luck finish.

Whoooo Hoo!!! Stoked as a seahawk fan.

As for Rice he will get his...People will cry.. he will drop... and Ill snag him in the later rounds.

Keep up the good work and drive down his value :)

Car managed to go 12-4 and 8-8 in 08-09 without great QB play. Last year had a lot to do with their injuries.

Why is everyone so quick to dismiss Seattle this year.

Here was Hasselbeck's regualar season stat line. I will be very surprised if Jackson is this bad:

59.9% Comp % 12 TDs 17 INTs

They are better than they were a year ago when they won the division.

Well if the division winner is 7-9 again they have a shot

Car had decent QB play those years. Jake was at least an nfl qb. These guys are backups at best. Jackson has had years to show anythin. There's a reason jackson went to sea, its only place that has zero qb talent and has a shot to start. Again, you need a qb in this league these days.

OH and this interesting tweet from Carroll:

Getting better this weekend! RT @AstinGreer: @PeteCarroll How's the QB situation looking? I know you've got something up your sleeve

This weekend you say?

Seriously? Have you ever seen the guy play?
