Simon costs Colts dearly against the cap! (1 Viewer)

IIRC the Colts were actually looking really good against the run on defense in early 2005. It was one of the major reasons they started off 12-0. And Simon was clogging up the middle and making life difficult for opposing RB. You can dog him and certainly it is warranted based on the fact he won't return phone calls. But the fact is they were horrible against the run last year and felt they needed another DT before they got into the playoffs.

It looked like the Colts had gotten a good deal early in 2005...now in 2007 it looks like a terrible move...but they can lick their wounds over their Super Bowl rings at least.

Chicken or the Egg?Maybe they were 12-0 because their rush defense was so good but it's just as possible their rush defense was so good because opponents were playing catch-up vs the high flying INDY offense and opponents felt they needed to pass to keep up or catch up.In 2005 IND rush defense was ranked 28th giving up 4.4y/c while they were only ran on 398 times(4th fewest in the NFL).
