My wife bought somethign similar for me last Christmas.  I never even tried it because it doesn't seem like it is going to save much time.  Sure, it may save me from scraping, but like I said, I just start the car, go back inside, and come back to a clear windshield.  I don't want to stand outside in -15 degree weather folding this thing up and putting it in the trunk or whatever.  If the car is covered in snow, this won't save me from having to brush snow off the car.

Turn your defroster on high and put the sunvisors down. It will defrost the entire windshield much faster.
Intriguing.  Will try this.

When you go on vacation/evacuation/whatever leave a frozen cup of water (I know it’s ice but I want to differentiate from a cup of ice cubes) with a penny on top in the freezer.  When you come home if the penny is inside the ice your fridge lost power long enough for frozen food to thaw and things to go bad.
Why not just keep a single ice pop on the freezer door rather than freeze a cup of water and locate a penny?

Don’t feel like buying costly smoke alarms and batteries? Hate the annoying chirp in the middle of the night when they start to die? Just hang a container of Jiffy Pop on every wall. When you hear the popping GTFO.

The best time to buy a Christmas tree is between Dec 26 and Jan 2.  Tree lots have huge sales during that period.
It's all about the right timing when it comes to holiday stuff. Tomorrow should be a good day to buy flowers & chocolate btw.

This reminds me. On vacation my sister ask me to get the clear plastic off the top of her deodorant. She was pulling and pulling.

I start to turn the bottom to get the deodorant stick to rise. She's like no the top part.

2 turns later the plastic protection false off.

She sat there stunned
Sadly, I just learned this about 6 months ago.  Used my teeth before then.

Sorry, but I don't believe that for a minute. I think it focuses on one very specific group (sedentary, i.e. out of shape folks) and only a few measurements. No way three 20 second sprints is providing all the health benefits (cardio and muscular) as longer-period training. But yes, it is better than doing nothing.

The point is intensity vs duration.
60 seconds of intense workout cannot make up for 45 minutes. I simply can't believe that. We are talking ONE minute of working out. One. Minute. I'd love to buy in to it, but I just can't. It's just to ludicrous to even remotely equate those two in my mind. Not asking you, or anyone for that matter, to agree with me. It is just my opinion.

Clearly they both have their benefits because they work differently.  I would suggest mixing the two, and not replace one with the other.  It is still good info for days when you don’t have enough time for a longer workout.
I can definitely get on board with that.

I need to cut a bunch of grapes. Any tips up in here?
If you are slicing them in half, something similar to what DallasDMac works. I do this with cherry/grape tomatoes. Place them between two flat plastic tops, I use the tops from small (~6") round takeout containers, and slice them at once with a bread knife. Boom!

Not sure if this counts as a life hack or not, but there's a company called Give Back Box that I use for all donations.  Basically take any box you have at your house or get from Amazon and fill it with stuff you no longer need, go to the website, print a free shipping label and schedule USPS to pick it up.  Put the box on your front porch and Wa La USPS picks it up and brings it to some central place for the Give Back Box folks to sort and donate accordingly.

It helps a lot b/c we have a lot of toys and stuff that Goodwill wont take.

I keep one box open at all times around the house, helps a lot with decluttering.

What kind of toys is goodwill refusing to take?

The goodwill by my house doesn't take any children's toys or equipment (car seats, etc)
They don’t take car seats????

I guess I get the you don’t know if it’s been cracked or not but pretty sure mine takes them.

Kids car seats also have a shelf life, and most being donated (particularly those that are multi-stage) are either at or near their end of life.

I'm shocked if yours takes car seats. The recommendation by virtually every safety group out there is to never use a used car seat because you don't know what kind of stressors it has suffered and whether or not there are microscopic damage to the plastic.

Plus the age thing that Bull Dozier mentioned.

quick google: http://salvationarmynorth.org/2016/01/explained-why-our-stores-cant-accept-all-donations/

“Sometimes, donors get angry when we won’t accept certain items – what they don’t realize is we have strict rules to follow,” O’Neil said. “Breaking these rules can result in costly fines or lawsuits. Most importantly, these rules protect our shoppers. Safety is our number one priority.”

Here are some of the most common items we must turn away:

Toys and baby items. Baby clothes are accepted, but they cannot include drawstrings or raised lettering.

Televisions older than five years.

Built-in appliances (ovens, dishwashers, etc.) and small appliances older than 10 years.

Mattresses and box springs.

Furniture with rips, broken pieces, stains, odors or pet hair.

I’m positive they do/did because when we were shopping last summer I suggested looking at them while there and my wife laughed at me and told me you don’t buy those used.

up around here they will take them but they throw them out you are not supposed to use a seat that has been in an accident and so on and i think that they do not want that liability take that to the bank brohans

they will also not take guns or weapons i know a fella who got a nice set of recurve bows that a prior driver just set down and left and they said hey man take them we cant so he did good score for him take that to the bank brochachos

I do really get the safety aspect of that, but it does seem like something perpetrated by BIG CARSEAT to keep people buying new seats instead of recycling them.

i bet you are one hondo percento right and i also think that 3m bots are driving the whole life hack thing just to increase command hook sales and it seems like they have fooled a lot of brohans in this here thread take that to the bank brochachos

My local Salvation Army has had issues with people dropping off stuff they can't take.  Initially they tried simply not accepting, but that didn't always work as they didn't have someone at the drop off point expecting everything as it was being dropped off.  So now they just chuck it.  They throw out about 40% of what's donated - recycling as much as they can (including turning clothing into rags which they then can sell by the pound).

Ya, my kids safety equipment should be more readily available on the secondhand market.  Paying full price is for suckers.  Good thing garage sales aren't regulated so I scour those.  I just slap some duck tape on the cracks and we're good to go.
