Simple Pleasures (1 Viewer)

This probably comes with age, but I'm realizing more and more how its the really simple things that I truly enjoy. I've always been one to get bored quickly if I'm not going 100mph, but as time goes on I'm learning to slow down. I've recently realized a couple of things I really enjoy that I otherwise either didn't care about, or just totally took for granted.

Drinking a cup of coffee - I can't believe how happy I am when I'm just sipping on a hot cup of coffee. It doesn't matter where I'm at; if I'm drinking coffee I'm happy as can be. Maybe its the addiction talking?

Eating shelled peanuts - Yesterday I realized it was almost therapeutic sitting there mindlessly shelling the peanuts and watching my kids outside. If someone said that to me even just a couple of years ago I would've thought they were weird.

What are some of yours?

That feeling immediately after taking a dump.

Hitting snooze and getting ten more minutes of sleep.

Watching football.

It's cliche, but reading with my kids. I don't care what is going on in my life, sitting in my recliner with one of my kids sitting on my lap reading to me, or listening to me, I go to a different place. It's the most relaxing thing in my world.

It sounds like you also enjoyed the simple pleasure of getting stoned.

"Have you ever drank coffee on weed man"

Playing fetch with the dog until she's completely spent and instead of returning the ball, walks to a shady spot, collapses and just looks at me panting with her tongue hanging out. Looks like she's smiling.

I agree with the shelled peanuts.

I think smoking a cigar outside on a warm but not hot fall evening while enjoying a beer or cocktail and listening to some music either by myself or with friends is just a fantastic relaxing experience.

Good one. I love tossing the basketball for our chocolate lab...he flattened one of our basketballs and has grown to love chasing it. It's the only toy that he hasn't been able to destroy. I definitely see that smile when he lays out flat in the grass when he's wiped out.

-1 wiper poops

-when nobody is in any of the bathrooms at work when I have to take a crap

Coffee early before kids wake up

Good scotch and cigars

Watching my sons score/excel in sports

Lazy Sunday afternoons in the fall watching football slow cooking some chili/gumbo

Sitting on our porch, with no music/TV, enjoying a nice glass of Wine or Beer after dinner and just enjoying the view..

10 Years ago I couldn't imagine sitting there with no music/TV to fill in the air..

Now.. :banned: :D

Drinking a beer on my back patio while grilling. Not looking or listening to anything in particular.

Sitting in a camp chair w/ a glass of bourbon on the rocks, staring into a campfire once everyone else has gone to sleep. The crackle of the fire against the backdrop of cicada/frogs/crickets.... the stars overhead and the crisp night air fighting the radiant heat of the fire.

I think that's my heaven.

Walking up the stairs behind a girl with a nice butt in tight pants.

Waking up at 4 in the morning and realizing I still have 2 hours until I have to wake up.

Freshly laundered sheets.

When my kids play together without fighting. They are 10 and 8 and yesterday they had a full on doctor's office going in the living room. Complete with sleeping pills that could be taken before getting shots (to help with the pain) and 10 x-rays for asthma.

PBR. Hot tub. Deck. Cabin. Woods. Moon shining over the lake. And nobody within fifty miles except the wife asleep in the bedroom and two or three strippers crashed out on the couch after a coke binge.

Walking / Running on a fall morning when it's 45 to 50 outside. No one else around. Sun just coming up. Rules.

I don't think you understand what simple means.. but thanks for playing ;)

Yup. This is mine.

Coffee, a recliner, and a crisp new magazine (Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, something like that) on a Sunday AM before anyone else has gotten up....aaahhhh.....

Cutting my lawn has always been one for me. I get a cup full of sunflower seeds and some music and just ride around in the sunshine.

That's great that they got along but that sounds extremely dangerous.
