Just started listening the other day and so far the Adam Caplan show (2pm-5pm est) is easily the only thing worth listening to. I am looking forward to this show: Maurice Jones-Drew Show, Fridays starting in August (7:00 - 9:00 pm), hosted by Pro Bowl RB Maurice Jones-Drew.

You do need the best of XM to get the channel, however I called up and complained and they gave it to me for free.

Hmm...wonder if I can call and complain to get it as well...

Listening to my Sirius at work right now - I get NFL network already, which is nice, but that fantasy Sports channel would be nice as well.

I told them that I use to listen to their fantasy show on Friday nights on the NFL channel but now you guys are trying to charge me for it? I then said that I wanted to cancel the account if I can't get what I had for free. They gave me the best of XM for free and also 6 months of free Sirius.

Is bababooey flaflaflofly on it?
He will be next Wed. He owns one of the fantasy teams that is taking part in their celebrity fantasy football league.
Don’t miss any of the action as some of your favorite SIRIUS|XM hosts take part in a fantasy football draft live from the Hard Rock Café in Times Square in New York City. Maurice Jones-Drew, Steve Phillips, Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, Gary Dell’Abate, Scott Ferrall and The Morning Mash Up Crew are among the hosts ready to go on the clock.Schedule of special events at the Hard Rock Café on Wed., July 21• The Howard SternWrap Up Show w/ Gary Dell’Abate & Jon Hein 10 am ET on Howard 100• Live performance by Southside Johnny 12 pm ET• The SIRIUS Blitz w/ Adam Schein & Rich Gannon 12:30 pm ET• The 2010 SIRIUS|XM Fantasy Football Draft 1 pm ET• Meet the panel 3 pm ET
This afternoon they said that Jeremy Roenick will also have a team.

I'm loving the fantasy channel, but would love to see Bloom get a time slot, especially once the season begins. I respect Adam Kaplan, but John Hanson is hard to listen to--no humility and the dude is totally in love with himself....

channel 211 for Sirius users. May have to make a call, appreciate the heads up
I couldn't find 211 on my car unit. It didn't go that high. What am I doing wrong?
Not sure what model you have, ie, sportster 1, sportster 2, etc.....but it is the Best of XM. it's a premium channel, you have to pay extra for.I don't get it either, but I have a lifetime subscription, so i will be calling and requesting it.

Once you get the "best of xm" the higher numbers will be available on your unit. They never showed up on mine until I called.
How does Sirius work? How do you listen at work? Do you stream it?
Yes you can stream it at work over your PC or over a smart phone. The wife got me Sirius 6 years ago as a gift and I absolutely love it. Its almost painful to listen to old fashion radio now.

Thansk for answering.

so you stream it, now does that same subscription work in your car?

In my truck I have Sirius Radio, and I have often thought of subscribing, but surely would if I would be able to use the same subscription at home, work, and while driving.

THANKS TONS.

I have a lifetime too. Last time I asked, I still had to pay 5 bucks a month for best of XM. I didn't. But if enough people think it's worth it, maybe I'll spring for it. Can't complain and threaten to leave so that is out.

 I got XM about the same time & haven't willingly listened to terrestial radio since.I listened to the fantasy channel a bit last week. I did notice the God-awful Anita Marks is on one of the shows. She got run out of her last gig here in Baltimore - deservedly so, IMO - and I doubt she's improved since.

Yes you can use the same account. I believe they charge for the 'internet" streaming (around 3 bucks), but if you call to set up a new account. tell them you want the internet for free and they will give it to you. If they don't just tell them to forget it and call back until someone will give it to you for free.

I called to complain also, told them to cancel my account, they sent me

to customer service and when I told them why I was leaving they gave me the package for free. I wasn't going to cancel but I really wanted this channel.

So far, I haven't been impressed to be honest. When I stumbled on it, I was excited, but left quickly. I don't know which show I was listening to, but there was some weird stuff going on.

The chick co-host was talking abut this one weird league she was in where they even drafted college players. Then after a minute or so of back-and-forth with the other host, the dude was like "You mean a dynasty league?", and she said "I guess". The the DUDE goes on to say he doesn't have time to be in a dynasty league, and he thought auction leagues were dumb because they don't reward players who "know football" (ostensibly like he does). It's fine to have opinions (I guess they are paid for that), but they seemed like odd opinions that alienated a good chunk of the potential target audience.

They should call it the "snake re-draft for people who have never played in a FF league before" show.

I just kept thinking "Why are these guys hosting a fantasy football program again?". There have got to be more knowledgeable people out there willing/able to host a show of that kind (starting with about half of the members of this message board and all of the staffers).

That had to be Anita Marks. She's cute but a complete imbecile.

Unpaid advertising ... masquerading as an interested consumer ... just my take on who is hyping what ...

I only saw her when she was doing TV/radio here, which was after she played football. I thought she made up pretty well for a sports-talk chick.

I agree. This show sucks.

I loved my Sirius radio at first, but I won't be renewing (thought it was supposed to expire about 6 months ago).

I get they want to fill talk channels (NFL chan, Raw Dog) with ads, but the ads are far beyond annoying. It's like my 1999 yahoo junk email account with audio. Just freakin' sell me beer and trucks; not Mr. Tough-Business-Guy with secrets to make me rich; not size-matters fake drugs; not debt consolidation scams; not truck-driving jobs that pay over 150K annually; etc.

Steps off soap box.

I had a two-hour drive this afternoon, and caught most of the channel's afternoon show. I'm not sure who the two guys were, but it was a decent way to pass the time. They answered calls and covered a lot of ground -- keepers, draft positions, different scoring systems -- and even spent some time talking about IDPs.

I also caught the 7 p.m. opening of another show, and they were strictly fielding fantasy baseball questions and discussions.

And the fact that it must be a contractual obligation that every phone number is repeated a minimum of 4 times in a row... :lmao:

That sucks that the FF show won't be on Sirius NFL Radio anymore. I refuse to pay for Best of XM to get my satellite FF fix. Sure I'll call and try to complain and get it for free, but it won't work. These corporations must smell the bluff in my voice. My buddy told me he had called Comcast and compained about his bill and they gave him some sweet off the table deal to get him to stay. I tried the same and the lady from India basically told me to shove it. I may drop satellite all together. I've been in a loaner car for now until I get a new car and I don't even really miss it. Come football season though I'll probably feel differently. Sorry to blog about personal crap here, I hope this post was somewhat on topic.

I suggest getting your buddy to call for you. They don't know what you sound like. Also keep it polite, and patient and don't be afraid to call back. Many times it just depends on who you get and what kind of day they are having.I wonder if people in these jobs can only give out so many discounts before they look bad to their supervisor? Maybe they gave out their limit for that week?Just a thought.

I told my wife I was cancelling my XM subscription. Then literally the NEXT day I get an email about a new channel for fantasy sports. Thinking this is a channel made perfetly for me, i decided to hold off on cacnelling.I couldn't be more disappointed with this fantasy station. The Adam Caplan/anita Marks show is on the perfect time slot for me to listen to while driving home from work, but like others have said, this show is not good. The thing that really bothers me is that the hosts don't see to be able to remember the question that was just asked of them.. "What's your scoring again? "How many keepers do you get? Who was that 3rd WR you were considerign again.?"

A. Marks on WFAN She was doing a show on WFAN the other day and fantasy isn't their forte at all, however she was saying that she'd draft Micheal Turner before the likes of ADP,MJD,and Rice. I respect everyone's opinion however she was saying that Turner is going to "break out" this year.

The commercials are awful... Here is a tip, hope it helps. If youre lucky, your radio can stay powered on, without the keys in the ignition(I have a Ford explorer, and as long as Sirius is plugged in the car charger, it stays on for me)I know different vehicles allow this, but toyotas for instance dont allow it. I then pause it each night when I pull into the garage. When I jump on the road the next morning, 90% of the time, I catch the last half of Moving the Chains with Kirwan and Tim Ryan. I can then skip all the commercials driving in, in the am. Give it a try, hope it helps?I tried calling in, and someone above likened Sirius being worse than Directv....that is spot on. They would not budge, nor was I surprised. My lifetime script basically allows them to have me by the nads...Good Luck to everyone else

Those of you buying Sirius radio subs, keep in mind that Howard Stern's contract is up at the end of the year, and if he doesn't stick around, then Sirius' stock and profits are going to drop faster than a Tedd Ginn reception, putting the company's already questionable future in serious jeopardy. It's really not a good time to invest in it until we hear what he's going to do.

I refuse to pay for "the best of XM" as I have 2 Sirius radios, one in my car and 1 at home. I get it primarily for variety of rock radio channels, although I do listen to the NFL network and NFL radio broadcasts during the season. I never listen to Howard Stern (he got played out for me ~ 20 years ago), so since I don't even want to pay for Stern (who gets the most $$ by far) I am annoyed that I can't all of the available sports content (baseball and football) without paying extra.

Does the new Fantasy Channel have anything on fantasy baseball?

For the most part Fantasy football radio or TV segments have been pretty lame. You get much more info spending 10 or 15 minutes a day in the Shark Pool than wasting time listening to the moronic phone calls about who's a better start this week, Eli Manning or David Garrard?

Right now they are talking quite a bit of baseball (not during the 2-5pm football show). I have listened to the football show for the past few days and I have enjoyed it for the most part. The girl that's on it does not seem that with it but thankfully Adam Caplan does most of the talking when she was on.You do pick up a few little bits of info that I have not seen anywhere else. They were talking about Brandon Jacobs the other day and they said something to the extent that Jacobs felt the biggest mistake he made last year was coming back from his injury early and trying to play through the pain. He said he will not make that mistake this year. Obviously this sent up a red flag to Caplan and he talked about really staying away from Jacobs this year.

I doubt the solvency of XM/Sirius is tied solely to Howard Stern. If anything it will be a boon to the company once the deadweight of Stern's contract is gone

I forget the exact numbers but a huge portion of sirius' subscriber base are stern fans who subbed only for his channels. If you read stern forums around the internet, many of them will cancel if he doesn't stay. He's the only reason Sirius is still in business.

Stern gave Sirius a subscriber bump, but the Sirius/XM merger also brought in 11 million subs from the XM side who never got Stern as part of their package and also millions if Sirius subs who didn't care about Howie. So to think Stern is propping up SXM my be overstating things a little. I lean towards agreeing with Zoomanji - getting that $500m albatross from around its neck will help SXM. That was a loser from the get-go for Sirius.

Yes, thats why a company with around 600K subscribers (before Sterns Sirius announcement) was able to force a merger with a company that had 6 million subscribers at the time of the announcement. Lets not forget, the reports of Sterns contract were that he received 80 million in cash per year and around 100 million in stock options (and we know what they are worth now). All Stern had to do was generate one million subscribers at $12 per and he easily paid for himself. Three months after Stern made his announcement Sirius subscriptions doubled, by the time he did his first broadcast they had over 3.4 million, by the end of 2007 they were about to over take XM in number of subscriptions. So to think that deal was a loser from the get-go couldn't be more wrong. If it were not for Stern, Sirius would have collapsed or been bought out by XM. /of thread hijack

5 year subscriber, left last week. They offered me great freebies and discounts to stay but I couldn't take it anymore. When I got it, it was fresh, I could listen for free over PC, Fantasy show was on Ch. 124 for free. The price was like $10-12. The Stern thing was good for their business but bad for any of us that don't care for him..All I have seen since he has arrived is more and more ways to pop me for a few extra $$ for what I used to have for free.

I have learned SO much from Pat, Brian, T-Roc, Jim, Adam, and a lot of the others but it is entirely PLAYED OUT. I have noticed over the years that the ads are longer and longer and the actual content is shorter and shorter. I think about 7-8 minutes is the standard amount of time they run before going to one of those brutally stupid "products or services" they run...to make it worse, soem of the hosts even hock the stuff...where's the pride?

It just seems poorly run now.

-There seems to be about 8-10 guys that dominate the call in shows. I swear if I have to listen to the life of BAM BAM one more time, I will croak.

-The hosts, more times than not, will ignore parts of the question and go tangent on something else.

-If a guest pops in, the poor guys waiting an hour to talk get tossed out and not returned to, even if they say they will come back (I've never called in and its not happened to me so its not bitter grapes...I just observe this as not giving much attention to your audience when you dismiss them like that).

-Gil Brandt. Love the guy, respect him and don't want to be blasphemous in all things NFL related BUT the guy needs to realize that when a guy calls in and asks what he thinks about the Cowboys secondary this year, he is NOT asking Gil to spend 5 minutes telling us what the 4th stringer's home town is and who he took to the prom. The guy's "shtick" of knowing the trivial and obscure has consumed him and prevents him from adding anything of importance.

Its just simply not the same great stuff it was a few years ago. I miss that and the one thing I will probably truly miss is on NFL game day when I travel and can't get the radio broadcast of the games.

So to think that deal was a loser from the get-go couldn't be more wrong. If it were not for Stern, Sirius would have collapsed or been bought out by XM. /of thread hijack
Then why all of the reports that Sirius was hemorraging money even with the "Stern Bump"? I don't think he brought in near the number of subs that we were led to believe or, at least, not enough to offset Sirius' losses. In hindsight, it may have been better had XM bought out a Sirius-without-Stern. The two fought a war for product that damned near broke both of them.

Sirius is not hurting because of Stern. They are hurting because of all of their debt to start the business. How much do you think rockets and satellites cost these days? As for their subscribers, its very easy to look up their quarterly reports. Its rather clear that Stern is the reason for the massive increase in subscriptions. Not everyone joined to hear Stern, but he brought the Sirius name to the forefront and made it a company that can now turn a profit. 9/3/04 - 662K subscribers10/6/04 - Stern announces he will be going to Sirius 12/31/04 - 1.14 million subscribers 2/5/05 - Stern debuts on Sirius12/31/06 - 6 million subscribers2/19/07 - Sirius & XM announce merger

You do need the best of XM to get the channel, however I called up and complained and they gave it to me for free.
Thanks for the heads up GB!I have a 3-year subscription which is due to run out in July of 2011. Called today and got a guy in the department which changes your programming. Told him it was ridiculous that I used to get the Fantasy show as part of what I was paying for (blah blah blah) and that I wanted the Best of XM package for free. Dude said his hands were tied... they had no authority to give me XM programming for free.... said he could extend my contract WITH the Best of XM included, for the low low price of just $420 over the next three years.

:lmao:

Told him I wanted to cancel my subscription, and they forwarded me to that department.

"Hi, this is Bob. How can I help you today?"

"I want to cancel my Sirius subscription."

[bluff]

[Keep the poker face... STAY WITH IT ... STAY WITH IT]

[/bluff]

"May I ask why you want to do that, sir?"

Went through my whole mock anger routine. He said I had a credit on my account of $120 (from the remaining year). He would "see if there was something he could do for me" ..... ;) and he'd be right back.

He comes back and ( ) says he can give me the Best of XM for half price, and that my credit would cover that half price, and he still tacked a year onto my subscription. So it was all a wash. I basically got the Best of XM just by crying a little bit.

I do suggest going directly to the extention where you cancel your Sirius. The regular ham 'n egger operators have no authority.

Apparently there is a draft special on the fantasy channel at 1pm est today live from the Hard Rock in NY. I think MJD is in on this thing along with some other sports figures.

Here is the link to the draft board. It is still going on.http://fanball.com/siriusdraft/

MJD traded with the Jay Thomas so that he could select himself. I believe he gave up a 4th rounder.

Standard scoring, non-ppr, 4pts for passing TDs etc.

Lineup I belive is

1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DT

I believe they have to draft 2TEs, 2Kickers, and 2Defenses but am not certain.
