Got the service for free for 3 months with the car... I like it, but I'm betting you can get it for cheaper than they offer when the 3 months are up. Anyone have experience with this?

Just pay the full year. It'll be cheaper than one of your steak dinners.

But seriously, I've heard good and bad about this. Your best bet is calling and saying straight up that you like it but it's expensive. They'll hook you up with some sort of discount.

Yeah, handle it like Directv. Call to cancel right before your contract expires.

They'll quote you some awfully high prices. tell them that you heard about some $77 offers out there. They won;t be that cheap (especially if you want internet radio also) but it will be about half price. I think I ended up at about 130 for the year instead of 250+ or whatever they wanted.

DO NOT AGREE to Auto-PAY! They'll just charge the sky-high rate next year automagically on your CC then.

Yeah, the best price will be on the full year.

Awesome... Nothing i enjoy more than fighting with DirecTV for free Sunday ticket, Showtime, and other discounts (no shtick, for some reason I really enjoy this)... I don't really need the internet package. The package I wanted they had quoted at about $18 a month, but reading online you can get it for about half.

They wouldn't cut me any deal except on a year subscription. Also FYI, I'm pretty sure after the first subscription period it auto-renews. I didn't notice on mine and I'm pretty sure I got charged the full rate this year.

I just got off the phone with DirecTV and am happier than when I got a promotion at work!!!

Anyway, Sirius will usually give you 50% off for a year. They will auto-renew, but just call them after the charge shows up and they'll remove it.

IMO, you will want internet also as it allows you to listen on your mobile devices.

My dad just got his renewed for $60 a year. That will be my target.
That is my target as well. The last couple times I have called I haven't been able to get it for a year but I have been able to get $30 for 6 months. Call about 2 days before it expires to cancel, give them the story of too expensive when they ask why. Talk them down to where you want to be, renew, rinse, repeat.

Been doing it for 3 years now, but lately it has been a little more difficult (only getting 6 mos instead of year) but I have no problem plugging a reminder into my calender and calling them twice a year.

pay a year in advance $80 is what i got. mark on your calendar to call 364 days from then to renegotiate

Do they still offer lifetime subs? I got XM in '04. In (I think) '08, I said #### it and got a lifetime subscription. I assume I got grandfathered in on an internet account since it's still working. The app, though, wants me to pay more - screw that; I can make what I have work.

They will mandate auto renewal with the discount but you can turn it off later. I turned mine off as soon as they send me my renewal slip annually.

They don't make you give a cc#, though. You can ask them to send you a bill by mail when it renews. Then even if you forget to call in again before it ends, you can just do so when you get the bill.

Also (to the OP) if you happen to get a tough one on the line, just go all the way through and cancel. You'll most likely get an offer in the mail to resubscribe at the low rate in something like 2 weeks anyway.

I've gotten the $25 for 5 months the last few times. If you cancel, you'll get an email in the next week or so with an offer like this.

Got it for this price (plus taxes, etc.) at the dealer a year ago. Renewal was automatically set up for Monday at twice the price. I called today and rather easily got another year at the introductory price.
