Sitting in jury-selection pool - ask me anything (1 Viewer)

It's as boring - so far - as you'd guess. I deferred it as long as I could, and now here I am.

Apparently they do expect to seat a jury later today...

So far my favorite part is that we were all told yesterday over the phone when we were selected that we were required to watch two orientation-type videos online before coming in this morning.
So what do you think we're doing right now???

Pros: Free soft drinks

Cons: Everything else
Additional pro: Doing your civic duty because you may be tasked to make an important decision which directly impacts at least one, if not multiple, life/lives.
Yeah, yeah, counselor.

There are about 80 people in the pool. 12 of us will be picked for a two-day criminal trial. Voir dire to begin imminently. Supposedly.

Trying to decide if I should answer in a way to guarantee I won't get picked - but then have to come back - or go for it and be done in two days.

Please just answer the questions honestly... 🤦

I want to do this sometime. But I don’t like soft drinks. Not seeing any upside.

is there anyone under the age of 30 in the jury pool?

The inevitable fight over the thermostat has ensued. On one side, the Menopausal Grandmas have forced open the windows and stripped down to their slips. On the other side, the Thinning Grandpas have put on their mittens and scarves and are trying to start a fire with folding chairs.

It's 9:08 local time. We all got here at 8 o'clock. So 68 minutes into this, there are currently 19 people in line to use the bathroom.
:lmao:

Yeah, this I can sympathize with. I always feel for the pool because no matter how strict the judge is, how prepared the lawyers are, etc. there's almost always some last minute pretrial issues, negotiations, etc. that stall the start time.

Hang in there. It'll get less boring soon.

The Grandmas have won. I can see my breath in here now. The Grandpas are talking about making a recon trip to the basement to see if they can find any hot water bottles.

Can you start filming Cocoon 3?

They won't give up, and they won't ever die.

"I believe the constitution says you are guilty until proven innocent" oughta do it.

I was called to jury duty a couple months ago. There was a civil trial and a criminal trial scheduled to begin that week. After listening to others in the jury pool converse at different points through lunch, all I could think about was how screwed the people involved in the cases were going to be.

"I've never liked those kind of people."
