My kids have taken up skateboarding since getting boards for Christmas.

Took them to the XGames in Austin this weekend (really well done event if you haven't been) and saw a mini half pipe like this.  :excited:

Anyone built one of these before?  Seems pretty simple?

Also - any tips on where you buy your gear/good brands these days?

We built a quarter pipe back in the day.  I miss our local skate shop :kicksrock:

I have no idea where you go now adays.

Powell peralta still a brand :lol:

Also to add if a bunch of 14/15 year olds managed to build a quarter pipe I'm sure you could build something

:confused:   McGill, Cab and Guerrero were unreal!!!! and then they had the alien Mullen who is probably the most influential skater of all time. Check craigslist for people getting rid of 2 x 4's etc. and then get your plywood at home depot or lowes.

 
As far as brands and where to buy, Powell Peralta is still very alive and well with great products and can be found at Skate One.

I try to support my local skate shop as much as possible. They usually will have shop decks and will build the board for you at a special price.

Here is my daughters set up from a local skate shop.

Also this is my Deck wall leading to my upstairs.

Nice collection.  I wish I had still had mine.  Loved those Powell Peralta boards and the art that accompanied them.  Big part of my childhood.   I think the McGill was probably my favorite.  I remember the day I finally got that board after a year of #####ing and moaning to Mom about my crap Variflex.

Thanks, the ones hanging on the wall are all reissues.

The ones in the front here are current riders. The White Vallely is my original 80's board.
