Sleeper wide receiver for week 8... (1 Viewer)

Wally Cleaver

I will start...

Drew Bennett is probably on alot of waivers and is finally going to be healthy this week, could be some opportunities against Cleveland...

What you got???

On the long shot you're in a ppc league...

IF something happens, and Matt Jones plays quarterback...think about it.

He isn't going to throw the ball and catch it himself
Dude! It's MATT JONESlol jkPoint per completion. He should still have WR eligbility going forward, and if he can complete 10-12 balls...10-12 points,a few yards, maybe they mess around and get in the redzone?I'm NOT calling for him to be a stud, don't get me wrong, but what a situation.

Hines Ward.

He is all but been forgotten. Bengals Defense? I think not.

7 catches his first week back, I think some folks maybe sleeping on Hines

Kevin Walter, Hou. the guy has put up some good numbers in each of the past three weeks, and Shaub is back in the lineup so this trend should continue.. SD is likely to run up the score on Houston, and I don't think the Houston running game will be effective since they should be trailing , as usual, and will have to air it out.

This is a pretty good call. He should find plenty of holes in Cinci's defense, the only problem is if they decide to run Parker for 200 yards.

  He has had 10+ targets for three consecutive weeks.

I like the Ward call, as well. Many of us thought that PIT would run Parker all over Denver last week and the WR's and TE's had big games. With the Cincy D apparently shoring up their rush D (then again stopping Thomas Jones is much different than stopping FWP). Maybe PIT opens up the offence again?

My sleeper WR is Joe Jurevicius vs STL. Hes practicing fully and is all set to start vs a horrible STL secondary.

I'm not the sure the OP was asking about "waiver" WRs per say. The topic was "sleeper" WRs for week 8.That being said, if ever there's a week to start Lee Evans, this has GOT to be it...... right?

True sleeper, James Jones. He works the slot and Denver struggles at the safety positions. Jones is maybe the best I've seen in the Green and Gold at catching that quick slant in traffic and picking up yardage. He's not like Driver and Jennings with the speed to get deep on guys, but he's gritty and fearless over the middle. I think the Packers will utilize him this week, especially if Champ and Bly play.

I cant seem to shake the feeling that Muhsin Muhammed will have a good week.

I think I'm gonna go against the grain and put him in over Brandon Marshall monday night against the Packers.

Reggie Brown?I thought he was good for his first 100 and a TD last week but was sadly mistaken.
Reggie is lying in the weeds still. That's how he is going to be though, I think he'll do well this week. Minnesota is weak against the pass and strong against the run. Their backers just seem to be run stuffers and not so great at dropping into coverage. Their Dline is the same way, big and tough to move, but they aren't great in pursuit. Reggie goes 7-10 targets, 5-8 receptions, 85-110 yards this week. Whether he'll score, who knows? I put it at 50/50.

He's been hot. Griese likes him, you are probably right. Brandon Marshall doesn't match up well against Woodson or Harris IMO, they struggle against the smaller fast guys. They might interfere with Marshall some (especially Harris), but you don't get FF points for that. I'd think the plays against the Packers are Stokely and Scheffler just because of how they are utilized.

Walter?????? He should be available on most WW.
Why?
My league uses ESPN for scoring, it shows % of people who own him IN ALL THEIR LEAGUES, he's owed on only 24% of teams in their whole universe (ESPN), thats all I have to go by.
Well all three leagues I am in, he's rostered. There's a lot of public leagues with tards factoring in to those % owned.

Are you sure Bennett is healthy? As a sleeper I would go with Ike Bruce. Was targeted on 3 bombs last week and looks to be running very well.

Saint Louis is not ranked so poorly against the pass because they can not stop the run. I'm not too high on the 3rd option for Cleveland this weekend. Mushin has been pretty solid since Griese took over. It seems like he is getting as many looks as Berrian.

Not many options in a few of my leagues so I'm going with Arnaz Battle. We have ppr and he is starting to get some more looks. SF goes against NO this week.

Brandon Stokely might be a guy to give consideration to.
I was going to throw him out as well. With Walker out for a little while, he temporarily moves up the depth chart and will get more opportunities. He was on the waiver wire in my league where almost anyone with value is rostered. That is until i scooped him up yesterday.

I'll throw some names into the fray...

Ashley Lelie, SF - Nolan says he will be used more going forward, Alex Smith likely back, and DJax hurting (shocker)

Reach, but a possibility:

Keary Colbert, CAR - Second most targets the last few weeks (5, 5, 7) for Carolina. Colts could be up big and garbage time for him. In big play

leagues, even Drew Carter may hold value.

Sidney Rice, MIN - Don't laugh. If Kelly Holcomb starts (likely), in Week 4 against GB Holcomb also started and he targeted Rice 9 times. Rice caught 6 for 75 yards and a TD.

Maurice Stovall, TB - Michael Clayton is out and so is their WR#5 (Mark Jones). He also scored in Week 7.

HTH

Toomer vs Miami.........Buress will still get the attention freeing up the other side.
With Miami's defense, it doesn't matter if Plax gets all of the attention -- he'll still be wide open...
On that note, I think the Giants put up a ton-o-points on the Phins. If that does happen, Miami will look to pass more. As far as a sleeper, I think Ted Ginn gets in the endzone finally this week, either on one of his 7 kick returns or on a pass.I'm starting him this week over Marvin Harrison & Brandon Marshall  (but we get return yardage points  )

What a untrue comment. The Rams are one of I believe 2 teams that haven't given up a 100 yards to a rb yet this year. The other being Pittsburgh. And even more of a credit to the rams run defense they are always losing. So basically they are stopping teams running on them with more oppurtunities than other teams. If the offense ever got the lead I think you'd see the Rams defense isn't that bad.

This could be Andre Davis instead right?
