Sleeper WR's (1 Viewer)

Looking for some WR2 potential and looking for shark pool input.

So let's look at teams where there's opportunity (but some have QB issues that limit the opportunity)

Cleveland: Is there love for Massaquoi with Jake at the helm? Is Cribbs a viable alternative? I doubt either reach WR2 status. Mass is probably a spot start at best.

Denver: Gaffney (getting the love lately) or Royal? Probably not both in that offense and all the hype is on Gaffney

Kansas City: Is there room for Mccluster to shine behind Bowe and Chambers? And can he produce anything decent?

Miami: Bess or Hartline? Is there enough opportunity? I'm thinking look elsewhere.

Oakland: Schilens? Heyward-Bey? Murphy? I actually think the offense will be decent - so there has to be a decent WR among the bunch.

St. Louis: Robinson? Amendola? Is there enough offense here to support a WR2? Probably not but somebody will hit irregularly.

San Diego: Naanee or Crayton? Great offense without a solid WR1

Seattle: Enough offense to generate a WR2 caliber player? And who? Williams is getting all the love but that's a tall order in year 1.

Tampa Bay: Only 18 passing TD's last year. Probably not a place to look for WR help.

Tennesee: Again, I see opportunity here. I think the passing TDs go up. Is Washington a WR2?

Washington: Any opoportunity outside of Moss? Shanny's offenses hav produced some decent WR2's.

So I am guessing, best opportunity is (not in order):

Nate Washington

Gaffney

Crayton or Naanee

And maybe an Oakland WR

Or are there others hiding on the waiver - like Camarillo?

I like Murphy in Oakland.

I could see Clayton becoming a decent short yac option for Bradford in St. Louis. I'm a fan of Robinson there too, but he's more of an obvious choice.

Cleveland: Have to include Robiskie. Considering how much in the doghouse he was last year, this year Mangini's latest quote is "He had the best offseason of any of the guys in terms of his growth. My expectation is that that trend continues."

Denver: Have to include Decker. He's not going to start right away, but he could if they pressed him into service. Could be a guy that emerges in PPR leagues late in the year.

KC: I'd rather own McCluster than Chambers. Even a tiny number of rushes a game will elevate McCluster to a startable WR. Cassel's terrible arm strength will make screens and underneath routes very popular in KC.

Oakland: Someone has to emerge, and Murphy looks like the only guy ready to do so.

Too many people are sleeping on Harry Douglas and Mike Thomas. These two are poised for breakout seasons.

Ryan trusts Douglas big time and he'll start with Jenkins on the mend, while Mike Thomas came on like wild fire at the end of the year last season capping a solid rookie year. I've targeted these two in any leagues I can... whether it be dynasty or redraft.

Murphy in Oakland by default - not sold on Thomas in Jax as MJD is most of their offense and the will us MSW when they do pass (not very effectively) but others have appeal:

Camarillo in Minny could be a wes welker type

Is Jacoby Jones in Houston available? Hes a beast and should pass walter

Williams in Sea is going to be targeted alot as will the other Williams in TB - depends on what Qb you trust the most

Id stay away from Clev - because, well they're Clev and they will be a running team mostly

Crayton possibly in SD, Lance Moore in NO, Breaston in AZ, james Jones in GB all would be decent but not exactly Wr#2's (yet) - good luck !

I too like Jacoby Jones with Houston. Just trying to decide who has the greatest upside between Jones and Mike Williams (TB). I need to drop one and I'm torn. Any thoughts?

From Roto: "Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune predicts that Louis Murphy will lead the Raiders in receiving yards and touchdowns this season.

McDonald foresees Zach Miller leading the club in receptions. Murphy finally has sole possession of the flanker job in Oakland, and should retain it even when (or if) Chaz Schilens (knee, ankle) returns. The ideal late-round sleeper -- especially in non-PPR leagues -- Murphy is quietly a threat for 900-1,000 receiving yards. He's light years out in front of Darrius Heyward-Bey."

I wouldn't be surprised to see Cribbs have a good season in Cleveland. The one thing that Jake Delhomme was always good at was getting the ball to Steve Smith. Cribbs is the same kind of speedy threat who can turn nothing into something. Steve Smith's quote was always that he "can't be overthrown", and Jake Delhomme would consistently air the ball out and just hope that Smith could do something with it.

Yeah, Delhomme sucks...but he relied so heavily on Smith, Cribbs will probably be someone who he will feel comfortable with in Clevelend because of the similarities.

+1 What he said.My additions:Washington: Anthony Armstrong.Detroit: Nate B could prove to be a decent bye week/fill-in player.Seattle: For future waiver move, I would watch the Seattle wrs closely for any signs of life from Butler or Tate (because I am holding my breath until Branch gets injured).

Definite +1 to these two picks.

If I had to choose, my answer today would be to keep Williams. Tomorrow? Who knows.

Cribbs is an interesting call. I don't think he warrants #2 status based solely upon receiving Cribbs has a ton of potential as a returner, runner and even wildcat QB that I think he could pull off #2 status overall.

He has been pulled from covering kicks on special teams but will continue to be a return man, so if return TDs go to the individual player in your league Cribbs has added value. If return yardage is awarded too then Cribbs is easily a #2.

I can see why people could take issue with that statement - compounded by the love for Williams.

Fantasy Football Index is pure gold for the nuggets they uncover that other sources don't. Second year QB's (with 200 plus attempts as a rookie) tend to marginally improve over year one. QB performance generally spikes later. The only improvement is in aggregate due to more starts. So that would project to about 18 passing TD's for Freeman (10 in 9 starts last year). That's still not much to spread around.

Time will tell.

I was seriously thinking about this too. So far in both of my drafts he fell to the fa pool. But I'm keeping a close eye.
