Sleepers/Breakouts for 2008? (1 Viewer)

Pitchers are preferred, since it's easier to project who will and won't be in the rotation next year.

The one guy that jumps to my mind immediately is Andy Sonnanstine.

Bronson Arroyo has had a really nice stretch run, more sleeper than the breakout, but might be some nice value late. Nice K and K/BB numbers.

Ubaldo Jiminez has had a few nice strech starts(a few clinkers too, he's in Colorado but gets the K's)

Don't know how sleeperish he is, but I figure Dustin McGowan will be down the draft boards and he was impressive.

Potential with Litsch and Marcum in Toronto too, but they lack McGowan's success and stats but worth a look.

Lirano back from surgery next year in Minny

I think a guy who will be a little under the radar next year is Corey Patterson. His numbers since the All Star break have been terrific. I know he's disappointed a lot of owners in the past, but I think that a lightbulb went off in his head sometime before the AS Break, and he quit swinging for the fences in every at bat. They moved him up in the order (to #2) and he's been terrific ever since. Next year I see him batting around .280 with 40-50 stolen bases and possibly 100 runs scored. Give him 10 HRs and 60 RBIs and you have a pretty good #3 OF.

He's also missed a few weeks now with an ankle injury so this season's numbers will be a little depressed. I was actually thinking of keeping him in my keeper league (keep 4), but I'm thinking I might be able to get him cheap next year since I don't think the other owners have him on their radar.

Good call on Arroyo. I like Marcum as well, although I'm a little skeptical on both Litsch and McGowan.Liriano is going to be a wild-card, it'll be interesting to see where he goes. You know, we could organize an '08 mock. Now.

contiuing on the Jays wagon, Burnett has been very good lately.

Along with Burnett, Cain's also been good in the 2nd half.

on the offensive side..if Markakis could ever put together a first half he'd be $. I have no idea where he's going to end up in drafts, but Tulowitzki is probably going to be a fairly cheap option. Kinsler seems to be figuring it out at 2B. Wily Mo in Ave leagues. I also like Beltre, Kemp, and Loney, but with Los Doyers, who knows how much pt those 2 will get. I also think Gordon and Butler will be viable starters in KC.

Other guys:

Howie Kendrick- ticketed for a big year, dealt with a slow start because of a spring injury, then missed a good chunk of time, but he's had a real nice month, and I hope he stays just below the radar enough to get him late next year. He's back.

Melky Cabrera- He's running out of gas, but he's still a young player, I think he's only 23 next year and his HR power is still developing. He'll be the starter from day one next year, and if you have multiple stat categories as I do(2B, 3B) he is kind of a nice across the board contributor. If he can be your 4th outfielder in a deep league, he's real nice and still has ceiling

Yovanni Gallardo- Big time hype and then he slumped with a few starts, rebounding nicely, might be under the radar a tick after not throughly dominanting but he's the goods

Jeremy Hermida- another big hype guy who disappointed, but he's been strong down the stretch, another young guy who might be both putting it together and putting injuries behind him.

Kevin Kouzmanoff- Don't like the ballpark but he's shaking out of that season long slump at the right time. A big postseason would put him back on the radar, but
