Sneaky Defense plays this week (1 Viewer)

First off, I'm thinking about only defenses, and not factoring in Special Teams... And, I'm about to walk out the door so I don't have a lot of time to back up my general descriptions. If I'm off base on anything I say below, please correct me.

Here is what I'm thinking if you are cruising your waiver wire because you've got a bad defensive matchup (for me, I thought I was sitting pretty with Seattle against an ailing Arizona, but now I'm thinking they will be full strength. They can be a little scary...)

Most obvious is Buffalo v. Miami, with the Dolphins RB woes and a young John Beck doing his best to throw interceptions.

Bengals against the Rams. Now Berlin is starting, so it looks good. But Cincy had been shredded against the run (BUT, now I see that they've toughened up a little recently). I heard that weather might be a problem. Any insight?

The Saints v. Falcons. NO has been great against the run and terrible against the pass all year, and now they got a whole week to prepare for Redman. He's not any good, right? Great numbers last week, but I've more often seen guys of little talent blow up in a surprise start one week, then come back down to earth the next. Atlanta has been giving up good numbers to their opposite DST all year.

Miami v. Buffalo. Believe it or not, they have been scoring a lot in DST points (at least in my league). They have been giving up a lot of scores, but have been making enough big plays to at least garner a look.... Is weather an issue?

I just benched the Steelers and picked up the Bengals off ww. Ice turning to rain is the forcast in Cincy. Brock Berlin ? is starting. Looks like the Rams want the #2 overall pick in the 2008 draft. Chris Long ?

hey, don't get me wrong --- I wouldn't advocate anybody starting a d against the pats, just never thought I'd live long enough to read the above bolded line.

and the forecast in hell just turned from rain to ice.
I would start every defense in the NFL in front of the Steelers this week. NE is not giving up any Defensive TD's and will score 24 or more points.
My thoughts exactly. I feel better about my Bengals vs the Rams now, especially with Brock Berlin starting and the icy/rainy conditions.

I like Miami and the Bengals too... I'm torn between which one to start.

I also like Cleveland vs. the Jets. Miami sacked Clemens six times last week and pretty much any defense vs. a rookie QB is a decent start 80-90% of the time.

BAL def has been my starting D all year. Since BAL played NE last week - I picked up and started CAR and was rewarded with 33 points. This week with BAL going against IND - I have picked up and started 49ers playing at home against MIN. We'll see what happens this week.

Now think outside the box
