No confidence vote + snap referendum to confirm / halt Brexit.I kind of think at this point in England someone is supposed to pull a sword out a lake or something.
Get some stones and make it happen, you fools.

It's a bit without nuance, but a decent read. It is spot on how the UK has pissed away any chance of pushing for reforming the EU in the future should they leave and return (or even remain)This Twitter thread does the best job I've seen explaining the situation, and how uniquely f##ked the UK is right now.
I thought it was an interesting movie. Not knowing all the players makes it a bit tougher, but the role analytics and their manipulation of social media was interesting. I am not sure how different what is going on in Washington and Russia’s meddeling in our elections as Robert Mercer’s was in both Brexit and US votes. Mercer is a billionaire hedge fund guy who supplied his data analytics services to Nigel Farage. Cambridge Analytics and Canadian firm AggregateIQ were also major players in mining the never had voted block and used data to cause social engineering to change the outcome of the vote and democracy forever.
The amendment had been put forward by Labour MP Yvette Cooper, but was rejected by 23 votes.
MPs are voting on changes to Theresa May's Brexit plan before she seeks a re-negotiation of it with the EU.

Missed this but like msom said it’s spot on.This Twitter thread does the best job I've seen explaining the situation, and how uniquely f##ked the UK is right now.
When your party leader has a net favorability rating 3x worse than Trump's, these things tend to happen.Labour party looking to lose highest number of seats in decades.
Corbyn absolutely doomed Labour. Johnson vs. Corbyn is their Trump vs. Clinton, and it's got the potential to change the U.K. landscape economically and politically for a long time.According to exit polls just released ( and we all know how reliable they can be) conservatives are looking to win significant majority in election today. Labour party looking to lose highest number of seats in decades.
Scotland already has. In fact, anticipates that its independence party won enough seats today that the party is claiming that they're entitled to another vote.I remember hearing Scotland and Northern Ireland are unhappy with Brexit, particularly the latter since they share a border on the island, and I believe I heard that if Brexit goes into effect, the border would become a lot harder to cross.
If that is true, I wonder if both nations step up independence/reunification talks?
I knew their vote a few years ago failed by not a lot, I wonder if it'll turn out differently now.Scotland already has. In fact, anticipates that its independence party won enough seats today that the party is claiming that they're entitled to another vote.
Judging by my British twitter feed (for premier league), the conservatives were doomed. It was 9-1 in favor of the Labour Party.According to exit polls just released ( and we all know how reliable they can be) conservatives are looking to win significant majority in election today. The protestants (the majority) in Northern Ireland will take up arms again to ensure no union with the SouthNorthern Ireland would probably seek unification if anything, since that would be the most effective way to avoid any issues with Brexit.
I know there's still some tension(I can't understand why, both sides worship Jesus, and it's going to be super awkward at the Pearly Gates when you see each other), but I could see them at least putting it aside if it means avoiding the worst issues in Brexit. The protestants (the majority) in Northern Ireland will take up arms again to ensure no union with the South
Nope. Ain't gonna happen.I know there's still some tension(I can't understand why, both sides worship Jesus, and it's going to be super awkward at the Pearly Gates when you see each other), but I could see them at least putting it aside if it means avoiding the worst issues in Brexit.
If it doesn't, it doesn't, though weirder things have happened.Nope. Ain't gonna happen.
Ulster will fight and Ulster will be right! The protestants (the majority) in Northern Ireland will take up arms again to ensure no union with the South

I don't claim anything resembling expertise on UK politics, but it's baffling to me why Labor kept Corbyn as their leader. That made very little sense.Corbyn absolutely doomed Labour. Johnson vs. Corbyn is their Trump vs. Clinton, and it's got the potential to change the U.K. landscape economically and politically for a long time.
Which is why hopefully we won’t be dumb enough to put up a lunatic Dem as our candidate.flapgreen said:Labour getting their asses handed to them in the UK. Same thing that's going to happen to the lunatic Dems in 2020.
It would be monumentally stupid for Boris (same as David Cameron for calling the Brexit referendum in the first place) to allow a second referendum on Scotland's independence. But not doing so leaves him with a problem, the unhappiness of the Scots. Whether he can weather that remains to be seen. Obviously, the longer they are out of the EU (and this becomes the norm) the larger the chance that the independence movement runs out of steam.SNP also having a very good night. UK may get Brexit but lose Scotland. Lot of talk in Scotland of independence from UK. Doubt Boris allows that referendum to happen.
Don't completely agree. Corbyn is a throwback to the 70'ies socialism and he's completely to blame for the disasterous election result that Labour had. They voted on brexit years ago. I think the majority of people just want it to happen. Labor could have had the British Obama, that doesn't change the will of the people.
Agree completely, those districts that went Tory voted for Brexit. Labour wanted to revote on Brexit and those places wanted out and an end to the never ending gridlock on it. Corbyn was not a good leader but the real issue is Labour was divided on Brexit and not where it needed to be to one those districts and also districts they hold in very liberal urban areas. They voted on brexit years ago. I think the majority of people just want it to happen. Labor could have had the British Obama, that doesn't change the will of the people.
I think Dems will flock to the polls as they hate Trump. The man is a motivator on both sides.I think it’s significant to point out that it appears the Conservative party flocked to the polls. Since dems in the us don’t really appear to have a strong candidate, it seems likely to me that the upcoming election will be much closer than many think and DT might just be the front-runner.
Independents are sour on the man as well.I think Dems will flock to the polls as they hate Trump. The man is a motivator on both sides.
I agree. Running a carping old red against Trump would be beyond stupid (if you actually care about winning). Things are pretty decent in this country overall, so selling "blowing up the system" won't fly. Run a status-quo-small-tweaks candidate (a.k.a. corporate Dem) who will behave better than Trump at home and abroad and you are in the correct lane.flapgreen said:Labour getting their asses handed to them in the UK. If it's anything like Trump's "deal" with China, it's going to be bad for someone. How is that a threat?
Maybe, except for the whole parts about Trump being bad at trade deals/wars, as well as it probably being his successor in 2021 actually working on the deal. You can count on the deal will be far better for the USA than the current situation with china. Im all for a giant trade war with the Chinese communist govt.
A trade deal with the UK will be a boon to Great Britain.
Shoulda done it 2+ years ago. He was a cancer for Labour, and they are chumps for letting him "lead". I don't think I've ever seen a premier candidate so devoid of leadership qualities.
