So I drew the #2 pick in my redraft league (1 Viewer)

Pittsburgh United

So is Steven Jackson the clear-cut #2 pick in redraft leagues this year? Every time I get a high pick I blow it. Ricky Williams the year he got suspended. Deuce McAllister the year he blew his knee out. I don't want to make the wrong move this year, after three years of drafting later in the round. Is Jackson the guy for sure? (Non-ppr league, btw.)

Maybe you should let us know who you draft so we don't take him in our leagues.

I think Leonard is a pretty good player who would be a much better handcuff to Jackson than any of the backup RBs to LJ.

Based on your previous luck just make sure you get Leonard too. I don't think his ADP will be that high.

Report back if thats your pick so the rest of us can make a shark move by just drafting Leonard.

If Jackson drops to #2, you should be glad to ahve him.
I like SJAX as much as the next guy, but to say "if he drops" is a little silly. Sure, you can make arguments for him at #1, but it is REALLY tough to say that LT isn't the absolute safest #1 pick.
He's being a bit facetious as he realizes he's one of the few that has Jackson #1, so he's having some fun with it.

A lot depends on your scoring system. If it's a PPR league, go with Jackson. If the scoring is tilted more to TDs, then I would go with LJ. Just my :blackdot:

1. L.T. -The unquestioned Lord of FF, and now he get's Norv Turner.....this could get ugly!2. Larry Johnson -Last time I checked, LJ is still pretty good. He will most likely get 25-30 carries a game, and he's probably good for 13-14 TD's.3. Steven Jackson -Slight edge over Frank Gore based on a better offense, and reception yardage. However, I'm one of those that believes that STL didn't bring Leonard in for window dressing. 4. Frank Gore -Reminds me of Emmitt, he was infuego the 2nd half of last season.

I agree with that last part, but let's go back to your #1 and how it relates. With Norv gone, do we see a reduction in Gore's performance? Who took over the OC role in SF and what is his history with the run game?

Well it's not a positive, but I don't think it's necessarily going to hurt his numbers. We all know that Turner works wonders for FF RB's, but I don't think the 49er's will change the offense very much. Jim Hostler is the new OC, but he doesn't have much of a track record (he's mostly worked with QB's & WR's). Nolan is a smart guy, and he's gonna get the ball in the hands of his best player.....plenty!

Is this where I roll my eyes at you? Excessive use of smilies to try and act "cool" is one of the reasons this site is really taking a downturn. You feeling the need to quote said smilies is even more confusing.Seriously, I have Jackson at #1, Tomlinson at #2 and I don't even have Gore in my top 10.

:goodposting: My thoughts exactly (except maybe the Gore part).#1 - LT (duh)#2 - Here's the debate: Do you take Alexander, LJ, or SJAX? Here's how I break it down: - Alexander is getting old, but still runs behind a solid O-line and has a good supporting cast. Also has a solid defense to shorten his field. Probably the safest pick.- LJ is a beast. However, his O-line is falling apart and they have too many question marks at the other skill positions. Now, LT showed us that when you are a true stud RB, you're O-line doesn't matter that much. KC's defense should be vastly improved (atleast the front 7) and should be able to shorten the field. KC also has pretty good ST's. He also doesn't have much competition behind him to steal too many carries.- SJax has helped STL forget about Faulk. He's a dual threat (rush/rec). He's also the youngest of the group and has the freshest legs. He too has a great supporting group yet has a questionable O-line. Add to that equation that STL drafted Leonard in the 2nd and I'm sure they intend to get his skillsets on the field.- Gore...well, I think I'm putting too much of his success in the lap of Turner. Turner can turn anyone into a Pro-Bowl RB. The loss of Turner should have an adverse affect on Gore. He's another question mark in the group. So if you wanna play it safe, I'd go Alexander in a redraft. But like someone mentioned, no one would laugh at you for taking SJax or LJ.

SJax unquestioned number two on my board. LJ worries me this year. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at about 5-6 position production wise.

Gore will again be solid. My only worry about him is goal line carries. MR was brought in often for SF in GL situations. That may change this year, which would increase Gores value. The new OC is really the key. The system Norv put in place is not changing, but it won't be Norv doing the play calling which was his strong suit.

I posted this in the other SJax thread....

SJax's value largely lies in the fact that he had 90 receptions last year for a ridiculous amount of yardage and to assume he's going to repeat that is a big assumption IMO. A few years ago LT had 100 receptions and in the 3 seasons since he hasn't gotten more than 56. How will Bennett and McMichaels additions affect his reception/yardage total?

SJax's stats...

10 G - rush 811 - 5 tds rec 482 - 0 (extrapolates to 288 pts which is still good enough for 3rd but right there with Gore/Parker/Westy)

6 G - rush 717 - 8 tds rec 324 - 3 (firmly entrenched at #3 a couple points below LJ and a full 57 pts (21% more) than #4 Gore)

He got almost 70% of his td's over the last 6 games. Was this due to a change in philosophy in the offense?

LJ is a TD machine and you know he will get a ton of carries all year long, only dynasty owners need to worry about Edwards running him into the ground.

Well I deeply apologize....I didn't mean to upset, or confuse anyone with my excessive smilies. Maybe I was a little liberal with them...lol...I def wasn't trying to act "cool".Back to the issue though, you obviously don't think Leonard will get a good chunk of the pie (I'm assuming this is where we are in disagreement). Or, maybe you are just down on L.T. (why?), and LJ (O-line concerns?) Which is it? :no smilies:
