The only other RB on the roster besides Archer is Josh Harris, an undrafted rookie from Wake Forest that they just signed up from the practice squad. I personally don't see how Archer could be considered Bell's backup given his size. He's nothing more than a change of pace. Apparently, the Steelers said they have no intention of going after a veteran FA RB, but I don't see how they can't.
I'd assume that this Harris kid gets a chance and I don't see why he won't start getting carries right from the get-go. Rolling with Bell as your only real RB is stupid. If you get up big in a game, your prize RB shouldn't be out there.
I'm going to pick up Harris as a flyer in my deep dynasty league as a what the heck pickup.
If they do that then they will have to make a cut somewhere else because Harris took over Blounts roster spot. Not that it's unlikely, but from the very little that I was able to dig up, it looks like they plan on giving Harris the job. I'm sure he won't have a long leash though.
Big Ben. No seriously, if anything happens to Bell, I could easily see Big Ben chuck the ball 50+ times a game. They will simply use the short passing game like the run. Heck, sometimes they do that WITH Bell available.
If something happens to Bell then as of today Archer and Harris would split. The Steelers did sign another RB to the practice squad (LaDarius Perkins) so they've got that going for them.
