So many playoff games featuring poor officiating (1 Viewer)

There was a bad (IMO) horse collar call on the Jags on the Steelers opening series. The replay clear shows him having his jersey not shoulder pads.
As of this year, grabbing the jersey in that area is also a horse-collar. So that one was a good call.
But it went in favor of the Steelers so don't even bother around here......

super bowl XL was a complete joke, the better team got hosed all day by the officials. I fully expect the NFL won't allow the Seahawks to beat their golden boy Favre this weekend also.
You Seahawks fans need to let SBXL go already, it just doesn't look good on your part to try and explain to "knowledgable" football fans what calls YOU guys wanted the refs to make or not make...I've been watching football for over 30 years and I've never seen fans carry on like you guys have been the last two years, but if that's what you want to do then continue on...JMHO.

FWIW, when I saw it live, I thought it was a bad call, too. The HC call is not just tackling by grabbing inside the jersey, but also the pulling straight down. I thought Henderson grabbed the collar and then ran through him. In replay, it showed Henderson hanging on and falling straight down. It was the right call, even if I don't think it was malicious.

Is there any job in the world other than officiating where you can be one of the 100 or 200 best IN THE ENTIRE WORLD at your profession and people will still think you do a lousy job?

I reffed basketball for one summer, and since then I will never critisize refs again....I think 99% of sports fans have no clue how tough it is. Seriously, pro refs are jaw dropping good at what they do. To make so many calls and get so many of them right is just amazing. These guys are the best of the best.

:goodposting: I used to umpire youth baseball and softball tournaments and I agree professionals are incredibly good at what they do. Many of the calls that fans/announcers think are bad are actually correct -- they just don't fully understand the rules and/or how the officials were instructed to call them. That doesn't mean they get every call right, they're only human, but the percentage is very high. Certainly high enough that your team should be able to overcome a bad call when it occurs. Unfortunately fans (and sometimes players/coaches) would rather rip officials than accept defeat gracefully.

Regardless, my point is that there is so much animosity towards the Steelers (and you probably feel the same way as a Pats fan) on this board that every single call that goes their way is questionable. However, when the Steelers seemingly get screwed on a few bad calls.......well "you guys deserve that for the superbowl". Was the superbowl poorly officiated? Yes. Were there other poorly officiated superbowls? Yes. Have their been other important playoff games that were poorly officiated? Yes. The Steelers literally missed out on the playoffs one year because of the 3 games in which the officials cost them (the league actually wrote them 3 apology letters). Bottom line...you can whine and complain all you want but it doesn't change history.

As much as I hate complaining about bad calls I can understand it immediately following the game because the emotion is high and the disappointment of losing is so strong. However when you are still complaining weeks (or years) later you have turned into a whiner.

I stand corrected on this one. I was unaware that the rule had been changed to include the jersey as well.

So now you have your excuse ready if the Seahawks lose to Green Bay this weekend too? Geez, and you guys wonder why you have the "whiner" reputation.
