Smells like chicken
[/We enter day 3 of the Suh hold out.

he has the exact same agents as Crabtree did, Parker & Barnes.

There have been tons of rumors around town that they want him to get more than Stafford did last year at #1 and as much as Bradford this year.

Crabtree held out for what like 8 weeks and didnt get a penny more.

I think this is clearly the agents fault, probably both times.

If the NFL gets nothing else solved during the inevitable work stoppage, I hope it is this. Create a rookie salary scale a la the NBA, slot guys in, and go. I get so tired of this same story every year (either the player--like Crabtree--trying to screw the system, or the team trying to screw the player).

ETA: Sorry, by "player" I mean "agent(s)".

It's probably worth noting that Dez Bryant has the same agents & had no trouble signing.

big difference in a top10 pick and 25th overall)or whatever Dez was), but good point

It's noteworthy and was pointed out to me that Parker and the Dallas Cowboys have a great relationship and have done many deals, also it was pointed out that Jerry Jones talked to Parker prior to drafting Dez Bryant if they would have any problems signing him and Parker assured Jones they would not.

For what it's worth, Suh's agents have come out and said that he does not want more than Bradford:http://www.freep.com/article/20100802/SPOR...e-than-Bradford

I think the sticking point is that the slotted amount for the overall #2 may be more than what Stafford got last year and the Lion's want Stafford to be the highest paid on the team.

Also, I am a firm believer that when a contract doesn't get done by the start of training camp that it's equally the fault of the player, the agent and the team.

Good news for Suh and the Lions. I was listening to local Detroit sports talk this morning and Detroit fans were a little frustrated with Suh. Knowing that the 1st and 3rd pick have already signed, common sense would tell you that you're going to be somewhere in the middle, get it figured out and get in camp. If you're that hung up on money, don't donate 2 million to Nebraska before you earn a check.

I'll be going to 1 or 2 Lions practices, probably next week. I look forward to seeing Suh and the rest of the young talent on the Detroit team.

Love to hear how Stafford is looking.

I'll definately let everyone know when I see him but Killer Kowalski (sp?), the local beat reporter who follows the Lions for 1130 AM talked about Stafford this morning. He mentioned that if there's 1 guy who's improved from last year to this year, it's Stafford. He's been in since the first day he could, March 16 or 17 and throwing passes and looking at film. He mentioned he looked like a totally different player. I also heard a clip from the coach and he basically said the same thing, that the most improved player from last year is Stafford, bar none.It was a little like Happy Town besides some of the negative on Suh not signed *not an issue anymore* but they were also talking about J. Best. They couldn't be more impressed with this guy. They don't even talk first about his speed, but his ability to shift on a dime, his balance and then his blazing speed. That's what the veterans on the team are talking about.

He did mention that the defensive line will also be a strength. That there are starters from last year from the DL who will be sitting the bench this year. However, the linebackers and cornerbacks are horrible. Rome wasn't built in a day but that will be where the BIG frustration lies.

When I go I'll definately be looking to see what he looks like but so far it's good news from Lion insiders.

Hey, just a question about Lions practices... have you been to one before? Just curious because I was thinking about heading over to one next week and was reading the info on the team's website. They let the first 700 in on a first come, first served basis. I was wondering if generally you have to be there really, really early to get in or not.If you, or anyone else has info, thanks in advance.Sorry to hijack... glad Suh is in camp!

I've been to a few and usually go about an hour early and so far I've always gotten in. I can't say what happens if you show up 15 minutes before they let you in, but so far, an hour has been early enough for me. I'm also hoping to get to a couple of practices, schedule permitting.

Thanks for the info. I'm coming from across the border, so I want to make sure I get in.
