So what's everyone thinking about Portis this week? (1 Viewer)

The rant on the radio makes me wonder which direction this thing will go. Will Zorn make an example of him? Will he realize that sitting him last week was the wrong decision and his best chance of winning is with CP in the lineup and getting plenty of touches?

What are the sharks thinking here?

Looks like it's been settled. Start him against Cinci and be happy.

ASHBURN, Va. (AP)—Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis has met with first-year coach Jim Zorn to sort out their differences, according to quarterback Jason Campbell.

Campbell said the matter has been settled and that the whole issue has “died out already.”

The two spoke after Zorn addressed a team meeting Wednesday morning concerning the first significant locker-room crisis of his head coaching career.

In a radio interview Tuesday, Portis expressed his frustrations over his lack of playing time in Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The NFL’s third-leading rusher criticized Zorn for inconsistent handling of players and sarcastically called the coach a “genius.”

Portis and Zorn were expected to address reporters following practice in the afternoon.

Good news. I like the idea of a rested Portis playing with a chip on his shoulder in my lineup for the playoffs.

I don't own or play against Portis this week but IMO he will have a really good game. Seems like the type of player that wants to stick it to the coach for not playing him last week.. We shall see but I would start him if I had him..

Quote from Rotoword.com

Clinton Portis (knee, hip, neck) took part in all phases of Redskins practice Wednesday.

It was his first full practice since Week 8. "He went hard (in the workout)," coach Jim Zorn said. "He kept looking back at me and smiling." The player and coach have ironed out their differences and Portis will start at Cincinnati in Week 15. He's a top-twelve play in this matchup. Dec. 10 - 4:11 pm et

I think Portis will have a good game. It's telling that he is practicing this week, even though he doesn't like to practice. This makes me think that Zorn actually did the right thing. He said that he put Betts in because Portis hadn't practiced and Betts was more prepared. I don't think it's a coincidence that now Portis is practicing despite bumps and bruises. There is a larger point here. Everyone acts like when there is a conflict between players and coaches that it is automatically a bad thing. But it is not automatically a bad thing. Coaching is a leadership position and leaders have to make unpopular decisions sometimes based on what they think is right and wrong. Sometimes this causes conflict. You then have to resolve that conflict and move on. Often, the end result is better than if you never had a conflict from the beginning. It's like if you have something on your mind to tell someone and you don't tell them to "keep the peace." This is often worse than having it out with the person and ultimately coming to some sort of mutual understanding.I remember when Tom Coughlin took over the Giants head coaching position. Apparently at that time he was "too hard" and the players were very unhappy with him and wanted him fired, etc. What happened in that situation? He got the team disciplined to the point where they won the Super Bowl. Sometimes a leader does things that people don't like and everyone is better for it.I think the key is not whether Portis and Zorn exchanged words. The key is whether they now resolve the conflict and move on. I think Portis is the type of guy who will want to win and that he runs his butt off in Cincy. If they win the game, they will be making nice the next week I guarantee you.Just my 2 cents.M

This is not making my decision any easier. Going to be watching FBGs take on this in the stat line closely. At the moment, I have portis benched. I tried to ride his emotions against NYG, and it backfired majorly. I'm going to need more than "he's motivated" this week.

I feel sorry for cincy this week even with all the injuries the the skins OL. Portis is going to be out to prove something to everyone this sunday.

not looking forward to going up against him in my playoff game.

24/135/2?
