So who has the cajones to start BUF D this week? (1 Viewer)

vs Chicago and more importantly Jay Cutler who is good for a few sacks, and INTs. I have TEN D on a bye, so I'm rolling with BUF over other WW fodder that look much better this season so far.

Just as a warning, this game is not really a Buffalo home game. The game will be played in Toronto and will be likely to be nowhere near a sellout and with just as many Bears fans in attendance as Bills fans so the usual crowd noise advantage your defense ordinarily might get at home will be much less of a factor.

I like the prospects for them, their only bad games came against good offenses, and they fair decently against bad ones. I was looking at it too but then went with MIN against the Cards and DA. Could regret it later.

I guess this depends on how your DST scoring works. For leagues that score mostly turnovers, sacks, and D and special teams scores they might be an ok fill in for a team that's desperate. However, for leagues that account for points and/or yards allowed I think most people would stay away. My primary league scores -1 point per point allowed. Currently, they're the worst DST unit in the league.

So I think I'll pass.

Tough call. Bills are really bad on D and the Bears are coming off the bye, but Bears are so turnover prone. The one thing the Bills have going for them is that even though they have the worst rush defense in the league the Bears have a coordinator who absolutely refuses to run the ball, so their rush D won't be exploited too much.

Man I wouldn't go there... if anything it could be a Chicago blowout.

Bad defenses usually make struggling offenses look good, not the other way around.

:lmao: I agree with this. They have 1 TD in my league and still average less than 4 points per game. 11 sacks and 1 INT in 7 games makes me think we see Cutler of the first two weeks instead of a bad D having a great game.

I traded to get the Saints Defense rather than pick up Buffalo on the WW and play them against the Bears. I realize that Cutler has been a sack and INT machine but Buffalo's defense is pretty bad.

I dunno maybe I should have done it but I wimped out. Good luck to all that starts Buffalo this week...

The Bills should be foaming at the mouth to get this game started after the scedule they have opened with:

Dolphins Packers Patriots Jets Ravens Chiefs

I like their chances in this one . . .

I have TENN on a bye so Im starting Chicago...

I believe it comes down to what other teams may be available that your starting The Bills D. over. ie. Det or perhaps the Raiders?

I'm in!

Chicago has given up more sacks than any other team this year. Average over 3 per game.

Cutler has 7 TDs to 7 INTs

They are 29th in the league in total yards

They are 29th in the league in total points

Buffalo is actually 6th in the league in passing DEF. The rushing DEF blows though. But is Mike Martz really going to refrain from throwing it 50 times and pound the rock? Doubtful.

Chicago only has 156 rushing attempts this year. Good for 30th in the league.

Chicago is also middle of the raod is respect to special teams coverage. Buffalo is top ten in kick off retunr yardage per attempt. Buffalo to return one?

I think Chicago will roll up some yards and points, but Buffalo should be a lock for 3 sacks and 2 turnovers (INT, FF).

Definitely not the play for the weak of heart. But if you've been relying on Seattle or say Philly, this is a good risk/reward one week play.

The Bills as a team only have 1 INT and they really struggle rushing the passer. While I think most times starting a D/ST against Cutler and the Bears, I just don't think the Bills will be all that successful as a start this week.

Buffalo's defense is 25th in sacks (11) and dead last in interceptions (1). I think their lofty 6th ranking for passing yards has more to do with the fact they are dead last in rushing yards allowed.Buffalo's defense may or may not be a good play against the Bears this week but don't kid yourself into thinking their pass defense is good.

I thought about it, but with ARZ going against Favre, I thought they had an outside shot at being a significantly better play. Had they not been available, BUF woulda started.

Absolutely correct. If you seemingly never force a team into "passing situations" it's easy to keep the "passing yards against" stat-line low (meanwhile giving up 250 on the ground). That's why it may get ugly for the Bills this week. If Chicago can actually run on somebody, we just might see the Jay Cutler that all of the Jeff George fans have come to know and love.

C'mon guys THE BILLS????? For a DEF ????????? We all watch football, even if it turns out ok, as anything can happen, it's not a smart play.

ETA: They haven't scored 7 or more points IN ANY GAME THIS YEAR AS A FF DEF
