So with Garrard at the helm.... (1 Viewer)

Garrard may not be the savior of the Jacksonville offense, but with him under center...which of the Jacksonville WR's emerges as the clear cut #1 for the team?

Wilford, Northcutt, Jones, Williams??

Do any of these guys hold any Fantasy value early in the season until we see what develops?

None, Gerrard is worse at throwing than Vick was. Upgrade Taylor and MJD.
But if that is really true...then they may have the need for a come from behind victory more often than not this season......someone has to catch the ball don't they???? ( and I mean aside from RB screens)Wilford has shown flashes in the past, Jones had so much hype and now in his 3rd season as a WR should improve somewhat....Northcutt has never impressed me, and Williams cant seem to remember routes and blocking assignments on the screens.....So is it really a stretch to guess that Wilford and Jones will probably be neck in neck for the team lead in receptions.?

Matt Jones caught TDs in 4 of the last 5 full games he played with Garrard. In the 5th he had 1 catch for 7 yards.

He had 5 catches for 104 in the finale against KC, but Quinn Gray played QB a lot of the game so it doesn't tell us much.

I've been (too) high on Jones this off season, but I do like his chances of success. By success I mean exceeding his ADP and being a decent WR3 in most leagues.

Broussard. Because all the other WRs have already proven they suck (ok, well Wilford doesn't suck but he's no #1). And Mike Walker is hurt.

If they get to the point they truly try to stretch the field, I think Broussard's speed will make a difference.

Now, would I stake my year on it?

Nope, nuh-uh, absolutey not.

This is why I took him in the 28th round of a 28-round keeper league.Would I have taken him in the 27th? Probably not.

Just a funny blurb I read about the whole Garrard v. Leftwich from an opponents viewpoint............

Several Titans defensive players said Tuesday that they would have rather faced Byron Leftwich than David Garrard in Week

"Who wants to play Garrard?" Albert Haynesworth said. "That guy runs all over the field, he is everywhere. He make plays with his feet and is a very strong guy. It is like playing against a younger Steve McNair. No disrespect, but when I was thinking it was going to be Leftwich, I was happy. When I heard that Garrard was going to start, well, I wasn't so happy."

Haha.. Last time Byron played the titans he had 4 TDs, last time David played them he had 4 turnover, 3 were returned for TDs. So ah, maybe Albert isn't the best source.

It is much harder to place your cleat on a highly mobile target. Hence Albert's disappointment.

Do any of you so called sharks live or even watch the Jags play? If you did you would know that they were 8-8 last year and that Garrard finished 5-8....so that means that Leftwich finished 3-8.. great record. Now that Leftwich is gone (Finally!!) everyone is throwing the season away and saying that its time to sell the franchise now that the "franchise" qb is gone....SO just to let everyone know Leftwich is not a good qb, let alone a good starting qb, and this move can only help all rbs, wrs, tes, water boys and cheerleaders involved with the Jags...

by the way the Jags had the number 2 defense last year

BTW Garrard still sucks and shouldn't be a starting quarterback.

Last time I checked the heart was still beating, but after my next meeting I'll check again...

maybe I have reading comprehension issues. finished 5-8 and finished 3-8. isn't that 24 games?

As starters Leftwich was 3-3, David was 5-5. Over the last two seasons both are 10-6. I have no idea what that 5-8, 3-8 stuff was about.

All indications from what I have read is that the coaching staff feels like they have a better offense and chances of winning with Garrard at QB. The guy had received some pretty good compliments when he came in to replace Leftwich last season, and didn't look all that bad to me. The WR corps may not be a stellar bunch of guys, but I see them producing better than say ATL and even BAL. I think with the ground game they have in place, defenses will try and cheat in to prevent any big runs, thus leaving the secondary prone to some single coverage and big plays.I'd go:1. Wilford2. M. Lewis3. Jonesbut this is just my view, and being as I am not in JAC, It's all speculation.

I wouldn't want a Jags WR with Garrard at the helm. Would of took fliers had Leftwich been the QB.

I'd put any Jags WR on par or below any Titan WR. The Jags will watch Garrard fail again as the starting QB and will either A) draft a QB in the draft or B) Watch Rex come back to FL after he feels unappreciated by the treatment of the Bears faithful.

If you project David's stats from 10 games last season to a full 16 games you'd come up with:

16 passing TDs

14.4 INTs

2776 yard passing

400 rushing yards

0 rushing TDs ( had zero in 10 games)

While 2776 yards and 16 passing TDs isn't much, it's possible that a WR could get decent fantasy stats if he was targeted greatly by David. The trouble is there's really no data that supports any one WR. Reggie would seem to be the odd man out as his history with David is much worse than Byron. Matt Jones did okay with David last season. Northcutt is new. Wilford.. I can never figure Wilford out. Lewis might get some looks and certainly David likes Drew. But overall it's anyones guess. Like much of what's gone on in Jax lately.
