What should happen

  • League software issues are not the owners fault - give that owner the players he bid on

In one of my leagues we are still allowed to make transactions even though we are in the playoffs (using a blind bidding process). I never had a problem with waivers before, but of course, that doesn't help now.

I tried claiming a bunch of fresh blood for our playoffs. The problem was that for some reason all my bids got listed on a single list of which the system would only allow me to claim one player. Of course, that was swapping one kicker for another and none of the many other transactions I bid on went through.

I outbid everyone for the 5 other players I wanted but did not receive any of them. What was supposed to happen was that I needed to create a new player list for each player I wanted (if you want 6 players you need to create a list for 6 rounds of bidding). ON MY MACHINE, the league software wasn't working properly and did not allow me to do that and instead made a single list (and thus how I ended up with a new kicker but no one else).

A full record of what I wanted to do is available and date stamped and this was brought to everyone's attention as soon as waivers were run and it got messed up.

However, my leaguemates are taking the stance that what's done is done and the league management software works fine on their end. So people are perfectly happy letting this slide.

What do people think should happen in this case . . .

As a commish, I would verify the issue was only on your system, and the issue was reproducible. In other words, make sure it wasn't the case that the owner didn't understand how it was supposed to work. If I can verify that case, I would write it up to the league as a whole and explain the issue and the ruling ( some of which it appears you've started by noting this behavior immediately after waivers ran.

I had simliar issues with the waiver / FA setup, where the order was messed up and impacted a waivers run. I had to reset the claims, reset the order and rerun waivers.

Was this on fanball? If so, too bad. You should have figured it out by now. It's always been like that. If it wasn't on fanball, what software/website are you using?

Bob Slydell: Milton Waddams.

Dom Portwood: Who's he?

Bob Porter: You know, squirrely looking guy, mumbles a lot.

Dom Portwood: Oh, yeah.

Bob Slydell: Yeah, we can't actually find a record of him being a current employee here.

Bob Porter: I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that he was laid off five years ago and no one ever told him about it; but through some kind of glitch in the payroll department, he still gets a paycheck.

Bob Slydell: So we just went ahead and fixed the glitch.

Bill Lumbergh: Great.

Dom Portwood: So, uh, Milton has been let go?

Bob Slydell: Well, just a second there, professor. We, uh, we fixed the *glitch*. So he won't be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it'll just work itself out naturally.

Bob Porter: We always like to avoid confrontation, whenever possible. Problem is solved from your end.
