Some positive news on LJ (1 Viewer)

Sorry if this is a Honda, but I got this e-mail this morning from a fantasy website:

Updating RB Larry Johnson's fantasy status and hold out. NEWS: Sources have updated the recent contract talks between Larry Johnson and the Chiefs front office: "LJ and the President and GM Carl Peterson have an agreement in princpal for a new contract. Neither party is in a hurry to get Johnson to camp nor sign the deal. LJ is working hard this summer in Arizona and minus team contact drills is ready to don his pads and practice or play as soon as the two parties ratify their agreement. Sources reported, "Johnson will be the Chiefs starting tailback for Week 1. Guaranteed!"INSIGHT: While most media and fantasy outlets continue to downgrade RB Larry Johnson, the KC featured back remains steady in our player rankings. Although Johnson's yards per carry and total touches from a year ago (416) will decrease in '07, he is still the Chiefs top offense weapon especially with first-time starter Brodie Croyle as the teams top signal caller. Johnson is a sure fire fantasy bet to receive 350 carries this season and be Herm Edwards go-to option in the redzone.
Add this to what Adam Schefter said last night and suddenly things are looking a lot better for LJ, contract-wise at least.

:excited:

"Kansas City holds the leverage edge against Johnson because he still has one season remaining on his contract and the club likes what it has seen from Michael Bennett and Louisville rookie Kolby Smith. And if Priest Holmes's dream of returning to the field becomes a reality, KC wouldn't be in terrible predicament without Johnson."
That may be the most ludicrous thing I've read this entire preseason.

Some of you just make me laugh. Nobody knows when LJ will come back. Do any of you have a crystal ball? LJ is not in camp and probably won't be. I hope everybody takes him at 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and so on. It's a gamble! We play for a lot of money in our league and I don't want a maybe on my team. So for all you fortune readers........draft him. I think that everybody that is fighting for him, has already drafted him? Good luck to all the GAMBLERS!

The REAL gamble is NOT taking him.

This type of news will push him back to #3. Good value to those who drafted him at 5 or 6 etc.

 especially when you get down to picks 5, 6, & 7. If he's there......it's a no brainer - IMO. I'd rather take a chance on unbelievable value with some risk then play it safe.....but that's just me.

No, actally the most ludicrous thing would be somebody who didn't have the balls to post this earlier and then taking credit for it after new information comes out. You have zero credibility except as a Monday morning QB.

my sentiments exactly :blackdot:

Damn, you mean that there is no chance that I can get him at 2:08? I might have to reach for him.

For all of you noobs, set your sarcarm meters to high.

:goodposting: I would say many of us had him at 3 or 4 and never moved him, and thought the same thing about the "holdout".

I'm still going to trade him after our cuts in my money. keeper league. This will only help his trade value for me.

I think he will be solid this year, but I fully expect his numbers to drop as KC flounders on offense. The signing won't change my opinion on that, like I said, it will only help me get more for him.

And you've been here like what, 8 months?
He was just keeding n00b.There would be much more entertainment value in LJ holding out several games into the season than him signing in time to play game 1 and subsequently getting injured.Take your pick.. :football: Those Chefs sure do look like a powerhouse offense tho'.

So now that it looks like LJ will be playing week 1, what do you project his stats to be? I actually think the holdout helps alot as he has not been taking any hits up to this point and has really helped himself from that standpoint. I think he will go for 1450 on the ground and 400 through the air.

That's 1850 combined vs. almost 2200 last year. I think LJ's real benefit comes in td's as he is 1 of only 3-4 who can legitimately score 20. I believe he will get 16 this year.

So 1850 and 16 vs. 2200 and 19 last year. A drop but not a huge one.

 Enjoy that 3rd place finish this year, superstar!
