I faced this a few years ago when I was walking out of my house and I saw some kids letting their dog go on the sidewalk. I politely suggested to the teenage boys that they must have been turned away from their dog when their dog shat; so I assigned no blame to them at all. I then rushed to get a plastic bag for them and thanked them.

The next day; dog poop on my stoop.

And the day after that. And so forth.

I finally saw them walking on the street, followed them for a half hour until I saw where they lived and proceeded to knock on the door and talk to their drunken father in a very conciliatory tone.

Days later, poop on the stoop.

Called the cops. Asked him to knock on their door. Dont know if he did, but it stopped at that point.

This started happening on my street a little over a month ago. Coincidently a new dog and its owner started going for walks here around the same time. I'm 99% sure that it's them but do to the 6' snow banks I've been unable to "catch them in the act". When I do, I'll be sure to ask the owner to clean up the mess. If it continues I'll make sure to return any poop found to them in create ways.

That reminds me. I've always wanted to build a trebuchet.

Had another dog#### memory from 20 years back. I live in Woodside, Queens NY at the time and was looking for an alternate side parking spot and saw this guy walking some small dog. Dog takes a #### in the middle of the side walk and the guy starts walking away. I stop my car in the street and start yelling at him from the car about how inconsiderate it was, etc., etc. He ended up digging out a napkin or something similar out of his pocket and picking up what he would have wished to leave behind.
