Those #######s swim right by me, and me with correct bait and tactics. It's infuriating. :hot:
Weird. Never thought of them as hard to catch.
During spawning they can be had, guy across the lake lands them all the time. I use the same ####### bait and tactics and get nothing. I had one last year but it broke the line, then mocked me by swimming by the boat ten minutes later. I have large mouth bass in the lake too, I get a good number of those. I catch crappie by just looking at them.

What kind of bait/rig do you use?

I definitely am going to get better at Spanish. I plan on spending more and more time in Baja in the next few decades, and will make it much easier.

Spanish. I like to go camping and I'd love to learn how to actually make a fire without using lighter fluid or a duraflame. Also learn how to tie cool boy scout style knots.

Go camping in Mexico, by the border and you'll learn lots of things ;)

You're right that there is a good time of year. Right after ice out when they are moving into shallow water and aggressive. Big spinner baits (yellow or chartreuse), big crank baits. I know a lot of people like Red Devil spoons.

ETA: Fish along weed beds/reeds in the early Spring.

Going to start growing hops in the Spring, I have a ton of land and would like to grow a variety of them. I will use them in homebrewing but would also like to see if some of the local breweries that have opened up recently would be interested in them. Heck , if they give me free beer and allow me to name a brew I would give them away.
I have heard they are really easy to grow and once you get them, they just keep coming back....couldn't get rid of them if you wanted to.
You can make pretty god cash on a relatively small piece of land. Becoming a popular cash crop. May get over saturated, but right now it is money.
