Going to need some more time to think about this, but just wanted to say that all of these are much cooler than the actual super-power that I've gained sometime since I was a kid: imperviousness to mosquito bites. As a kid, I would get a ton of bites, they'd swell up to 1+ inch across and itch like crazy for a day or more. Now, I get far fewer bites than whoever I'm with, the bites are tiny, and they barely itch for a few minutes before going away.

You’re probably still getting bitten, just your body isn’t making as much of the itch-producing substance in response to the bite. I’m the same way, plus poison ivy/oak doesn’t bother me.

I have no idea. Before this thread I had no idea what the record actually was and was surprised that Bolt still had it. I just know there have been track records nobody thought would be broken and they have been. It is inevitable.

Are you disagreeing that a 50-year-old, balding, slightly overweight guy that is essentially the fastest human on earth couldn't turn that in to more than $3M over 40 years?

I have no doubt that you could likely earn more than $3M. But I am not choosing my super power on monetary gain alone. I really have no desire to be famous or recognizable so the path to get that money doesn't interest me. Living my life as usual and getting $200 a day without really having to go out of my way seems like the right answer. I mean I can even turn into part of workout. I have to walk to the corner store (about 2 miles) every day to buy my lottery ticket or gum or beer or whatever to get my $200. Seems like a win-win.

I get your point, and I also have no desire to be famous either. However, 75k isn't life changing money - and given the parameters it would be pretty damn annoying spending the $200 each day. I think Usain speed is life changing money with limited work - and I don't think that level of fame would ruin my life. I couldn't stop working tomorrow if my employer gave me a 75k/yr raise and probably couldn't retire for 10 more years even. Most people would be in the boat, I think - but I could stop working almost immediately with the speed superpower.

It wouldn’t take much to easily clear $20M in a single year. You’d easily be THE sports story of the year. One of the top sports stories of all time frankly. It comes down to whether "as long as you live" means you can sustain that speed indefinitely (no fatigue) or just you have the ability for life but use it like a normal sprinter (short bursts). I think because Usain Bolt is referenced we're talking about short bursts here and not the ability to run sub-one hour marathons. Either way you're going to be making more than $199.63 and a tootsie roll a day.

Your friends and family never knew or saw you had this ability. How would you be able to explain it? People would think you were an alien.

Exactly. Do I keep my dumpy body, but can outrun Bolt? Do I have also get new lungs that could manage sprinting 100 yds?
